Mephisto makes great shoes for people looking for comfort and support. I am a long time fan and I wanted this particular shoe because it is a little different. Same great comfort but these are difficult to find in patent. I am so glad I ordered when I did!

This is my fifth pair of Mephisto sandals purchased from Zappos over the years. Product is excellent. Service is just wonderful. Received my order within 3 days (live in Hawaii)!

I loved these shoes the minute I put them on. They fit perfectly with no adjustments. I wore them most of the day the for first two days I had them, and never felt any rubbing or chafing. The bottom of the shoe supports the foot comfortably, and the strap over the arch is attached far enough back on the shoe that the foot never slips off the back of the shoe. They look better on the foot than they do in the picture, and I have received several compliments on them. I bought the pewter color, and it goes great with just about everything.

This is a great shoe - lots of style and high on comfort. Great shoe for people who need extra cushioning but don't want to wear an unfashionable shoe.

I have had one pair of these for 10 years, and they are the best walking sandals I've ever owned. No cutting straps, enough support that your feet don't get exhausted, a little wedge so you don't feel/look dumpy, and a nice, feminine shape. Last year I got Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. These were the only shoes I could bare to hobble around in. I bought brown and pewter to support my summer wardrobe and I wore and have continued to wear them every day it's warm enough ever since. I walk the dog in them, visit museums, and hike around shopping malls without ANY discomfort. I even use them as bedroom slippers, because they're more comfortable than going barefoot! You cannot go wrong by investing in these lovelies!

Mephisto makes the best sandal/walking shoes I've ever owned and Elka's are perfection. Over more than a decade I have owned 8 pairs of Elka sandals, in a variety of colors and finishes, including these gorgeous black patent sandals. I presently have 6 pairs of Elkas in perfect condition. I have a spinal problem and these sandals make walking a pleasure and they are very stylish. I wear nothing but Mephisto..sandals, walking shoes and boots.

Elka is a lovely, comfortable, and supportive shoe. It takes a bit of wearing to break in the patent leather, but that's to be expected. Overall, a great shoe.

Love this shoe! I had the brown one for years. Sadly, when I had to stay at a hospital, my best friend made a Spring Cleaning at my home and put these shoes in the trash! So, I have just bought two of them: One brown, one black. They are comfortable, easy to wear and what else can I say? They are Mephisto!

I like Mephistos for comfort. I bought these because I liked the color, but thought they'd be un-sexy. Let me say that the color is rich and the shoe is comfortable and the biggest feature is that they're sexy. The heal height and shoe design makes my foot look dainty and my ankles very pretty. Plus a little added overall body height = leaner look. The PERFECT sandal.

Happiness is sliding my feet into these shoes. They arrived about a half hour ago and I'm never taking them off. I did order up a size and the fit is perfect. Just need to tighten the strap. Love, love, love the color. Thank you Mephisto for this wonderful comfort.

I love these shoes. They run a little large, but I use silicone inserts for extra arch support, which makes them a perfect fit. They are stylish and confortable, worth the money.

I have been buying this style and brand for over 20 years. They are literally the only shoes that I can wear all day long and my feet will not hurt. I have bought the Elka style in every color they make but I used to pay less for them at Nordstroms but they do not carry this style anywhere. I am down to my last pair which are about 7 years old and they are falling apart. Wish they weren't so expensive.

The service was fast. The shoe is true to size. I wear a 7 1/2 and ordered up to a size 8 and they fit nicely. Comfortable and very attractive.

These are a great design, so comfy and look nice. The rubber sole provides cushion, footbed is cork and won't stick, leather is soft. I'm really sorry they don't fit me but they are not wide enough (despite some reviewers saying they run wide). These are a B/C width, not as wide as the Mephisto Mobils line.

Love these shoes, but I cannot find a Euro size that fits me. 38 is a bit too short; 39 much too long. Not many manufacturers make 38.5, which is what I need. So sad! (I am about a US size 8M or 7.5W.)

These shoes are amazing comfortable. They stay on your feet very well for slides. I have a narrow foot and the fact that they come in a narrow width is wonderful and contributes to my satisfaction.

I have been wearing Elka for years and they are the only sandal that I can wear since I have problem feet. I seem to only be comfortable in the nubuck which is softer than the leather. I insert my arches and can walk all day. The style is very flattering on the foot. I wish Mephisto would make more in nubuck.

The Elka is a quality shoe that feels like walking on a memory foam mattress - firm yet supportive cushioning. The outside cut of the leather supports the edge of foot - no slicing, rubbing, or sliding off the side of the shoe as you walk, yet the shoe breathes beautifully and stays very cool. I really love the shoes and particularly like the style and gunmetal grey metallic leather finish because it goes with so many things. The problem for my feet is that the slanted strap over the top of my foot simply will not lie flat. It gapes up in the air and looks odd no matter how tightly I buckle the strap (I appreciate having a buckle option as opposed to velcro). Mephisto seems to be a shoe made on a narrow last, so this fit issue is a function of my high instep and wide foot. I will not ding the shoe rating because I believe the issue is simply that the last is wrong for my foot. My daughter wears a narrow last in the same size and they fit her perfectly. If you wear a narrow shoe and want quality and comfort these may be well suited for you.

Well, I have to agree with the 165 people who have attested before me, this shoe is perfect. It's pretty on the foot, it's comfortable, it's adjustable, it comes in a variety of colors, and it goes with everything. This is my second pair of Elka. My first pair I bought 10 years ago, and they've held up exceptionally. I've worn them touring for days on end, and my feet don't suffer. Their comfort comes from the support the sides provide, rather than having straps cut into your foot. Amazing quality, excellent design, well worth the price, as these will become your go-to shoes.

Smooth and comfy right out of the box. Overall fit is excellent and heel cup holds foot in place. Cushioning is very good and arch support is great. I've had four spinal surgeries, have severe sciatica and plantar fasciitis and these sandals are not only comfortable but actually make standing and walking a pleasure. I wear a size eight, medium width and had no trouble with fit in these. I purchased the tan grain leather and found them to be easy on the feet. You won't regret this purchase-it's like walking on clouds.

I normally wear a 42 in Euro size, but when I tried the 42 a few months ago, the footbed was too long and the leather straps were far too large - they gapped open even on the smallest buckle setting. I returned that pair. I love the gunmetal color and finally decided to take a chance on a 41. They are a bit shorter than I like but the leather straps fit correctly, so I will try these on carpet for a few days at home to see if the compromise on toe length will work. The comfort level of the footbed is fantastic and I appreciate the side stability this style provides. I do not like straps that "cut" into the outside of my foot with each step.

Extraordinary foot bed and very comfy. Very flattering on a wide foot. I wore them for a while around the house but the edges of the straps are sharp in places and rub. They're too expensive to take a chance. Too bad. I loved them.

Fabulous. These felt like they were custom made for my feet the moment I slipped them on. I have plenty of foot and leg issues, including a bunion and ankle problems. Excellent support and nice looking. I bought two colors expecting to keep one but will keep both! I love the Mephisto brand.

Finding this shoe was a dream come true. I got my first pair on a sale rack in NYC. But they're worth paying full price. I have very narrow feet and have metatarsal issues and these are comfortable for hours. If you have thin skin on the top of your feet as I do, they may require a short period of 'breaking in.' I recently moved to a warm all year climate and this is practically all I wear. I do wish they were a little less expensive but I'm just happy I found them.
