Smart shoe for the casual professional - Comfort and style combine to make this a first choice when out of the office. I wear it in the operating room and get compliments on the smart look. Easy to wear when in a rush to get out.

The Alton is a great, comfortable shoe, but runs 1/2 size small.

Birkenston Alton - Comfortable, loose fitting clog. Feels like a true Birkenstock. A little bit boxy, but my toes are enjoying the freedom.

Birkenstock Alton - Talk about your heavy-duty work shoes! These have stood the test of time and abuse of my job and are hardly worn. I use these for my catering job. They're non-slip and comfortable. Well worth the cost, I'm going on my second year with them.

A shoe for all the right reasons - I would much prefer to wear my Birkie sandals to work, but in a medical college environment, and as an administrator, they wouldn't work. The Alton is comfortable and even goes with those silly business costumes I wear when necessary. Comfort, style, did I say comfort?? Incredible!!!

Awesome shoes Have owned a pair of black leather Altons for 2 years. I wear them a lot and find they are the most comfortable shoes I own, along with another pair of Birkenstock's. Do not be deterred by the fact that they look wide when you look down at them...wear them and see how great your feet and back feel. I have gotten so many compliments on these shoes in spite of my concerns about them looking wide.

comfort I wear this shoe approximately 9 hours a day. It is very comfortable and helps with leg fatigue.

Comfortable. I have these in waxy brown and they're the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned -well worth the investment. I recently purchased them in stone as well.

Chef's point of view - I'm an Executive Chef in NYC and have always worn Birkies. The Alton is a new shoe for me and it's a winner as far as I'm concerned. It's definitely a step up from the Professional in looks and comfort.

Mixed review of a favorite brand - I have been looking for these particular shoes for at least a year. I am more than willing to go through the discomfort of breaking in Birks until they fit. These shoes are extremely tough to break in though. I have subjected them to several shifts which require me to be on my feet and yet they still have the feel of new shoes. I am slightly disappointed the break in has taken so long. Hopefully they will pay for them selves in comfort and longevity.

Overall very comfortable shoe. These are especially good for anyone with a wide foot. I have wide feet and actually found these to feel a bit TOO wide for me. I've noticed alot of people saying they felt true to size or smaller than marked. I found them to feel quite a bit larger than expected. I would reccomend ordering 1/2 size smaller than usual. I ended up sending mine back because of the size.

These shoes are very comfortable, as expected from Birks, but I wear a size 10 (42 narrow) and they looked absolutely enormous on me, very wide, like clown shoes. Unfortunately, I'm returning them. I'd guess they would look good on guys or possibly in a smaller size. Otherwise, they are very comfortable and very well made. EXCELLENT service from Zappo's - I received them only two days after I ordered them, and returning them is very easy.

Nice shoe - This is a comfortable shoe. Nice and roomy in the toe area.
