yeah docs!!
docs! first id like to say tht yeah i love my docs more than anything and ive had them for three years and they look like brand new...SOOO COMFY...it ran a little wide so you might do well putting in a dr sholl's insole or somethign...then it just makes the footbed all like soft and padded and archsupported...fun! also yes these hurt a LITTLE bit to break in but thats the way any boot is..and it only took me a day or so..so yeah...they are SO COMFORTABLE and tough...not even a punk lookI just wear them cuz they look sharp, not cuz Im goth or punk or anything..i LOVE THEM...i can walk farther in these and have my feet hurt less then with my adidas trainers!!

Phenomenal.
I own this same 14-eye style (except is has unique blue stitching/eyelets) and I have never in my life had a more durable, comfortable boot. I've been wearing them almost every day for a year now and they still look just like new--I hope they'll stay that way for years to come! The sole on Doc Martens boots is so tough--you can walk through mud, loose gravel, snow, grease, and still remain surefooted. Even though it's tall, it's not at all hard to lace up--you just need to break it in a little bit and only lace it up to the tenth or eleventh eyelet or so. Absolutely phenomenal. Don't know what I'd do without them.

My previous pair lasted 11 years (eleven, mind you!) But time moves fast, so I bought a new pair. Oh, dear... Either I forgot how tough they can be while new or they really get worse. A month passed, but I still have to wear thick socks and strips of plaster. Squeaking, stiff, really hard to lace up tightly. But still look great, though. Hope they'll wear in.

Not bad -
My only complaint is that the shoe presses against the front of my ankle as I walk. The tongue was not cut to accommodate the natural flexing of the ankle. Otherwise comfortable, once I found the right insoles. Short break-in time and they look great. I just wish Dr. Martens would make a boot with no heel.

I was surprised to see these boots are made in China, but what isn't these days? I am not sure if the uppers are real leather they are very stiff. It bends in all the right places though and doesn't chafe. I have been wearing sandals for months so the tread and feel is taking some getting used to.

Fashion combat boots -
My first impression with these boots was that the leather is very stiff but hopefully it will break in. Other than that everything is fine.
Zappos.com is the best place to shop for shoes! I got my boots 2 days after ordering them with free shipping. I love zappos.com. :)

Plasticy, big-
I guess these shoes aren't what I thought they would be. Upon purchasing them, I thought they looked a little clunky and ugly, but practical. Um, they're pretty damned high, and I don't really know how anyone can wear the 20 whole shoes. Right now, since they aren't broken in, they feel pretty uncomfortable and plastic like, or whatever. I suppose when I break them in they'll feel nice, but they won't look so hot. I think they're ok; they're practical.

Breaking in-
First, I would like to say how much I love this boot. Everywhere I go, people compliment them. This boots also goes with everything I own. The only complaints I have about it is that the heel of the boot never breaks in. I have been wearing them for two weeks straight, 12 hours a day and the heel still is giving me blisters. The rest of the boot is VERY comfortable however. Before wearing this boot, condition it with leather conditioner and water proof it. By doing this process, you will sustain its life.

Not perfect, but looks great, feels good -
I love Dr. Marten's. Unfortunately, I'm a half size and I nearly fit into the size a half size smaller than my feet. The boots look great; I really love most of Marten's collection and wish they fit better to my feet. These, so far, fit well and only cause me discomfort if I'm on my feet all day or am walking for sizable distances. I find that they're not as hard to break-in as I imagined -- from reading the reviews here -- but found that the heel is quite conducive to creating small blisters. That said, I've only had one and I believe I've broken the boots in enough to prevent more blisters from occurring. Again, can't beat the look; I'm a high school teacher and use these for school and to go out in. Although, I really should spare them the stress and save them for going out and special occasions, I suppose. I also find that the treads on the sole don't grip very well. They're not slippers; i.e. there is some grip, but not as much as I'm used to with other shoes. A good shoe.

Great shoes but hard to break in -
The first week of wearing theses shoes was not a very pleasant experience on the feet. They were very hard to break in and to put ot simple...hurt. Nevertheless, I hung in there and really love them now. They were sized perfectly.

Dr. Martens 1914 -
well, it was hard to determine what size to get because they run in UK sizes. I normally wear sizes 6 to 7 (US sizes), usually a 6 1/2. So, I went ahead and bought a UK size 5. When I tried them on they both felt way too big at first. But then I tried wearing thick socks and that helped some but the right shoe felt bigger still. Then I put in some of those thin comfort soles you can buy at the store, and that helped even more. They fit just fine but still after all that, the right shoe is just a little bit bigger than the left. Maybe thats my feet though. I dunno.

Doc Martins 1914 series -
Overall a very solid boot purchase, however some sizes seem slightly wider than others, also boot tongues seem to slide to left or right while wearing the boots, but I think that's related to the quality of leather used.

Buying Third Pair...
I've worn through two pairs of these boots. They've each lasted about 3.5 years of daily, and I mean daily, wear: The last pair I bought in Feb 2000 and its now Nov 2003 (but I should have replaced them a few months back).
I've danced, hiked, run, slept - you name it, these boots were on my feet. The heavy wear eventually takes a heavy toll however, on both previous pairs they eventually split at the toe bend. Also the paper and etc. in the bottom of the boot eventually wears out and comes out in chunks. Don't get me wrong, I really like these boots and as it works out to $3 a month I eke out full value. If you were less rough or kept them clean and oiled, you might get more years out of them.

Ok, so when it comes to a high-shaft boot--especially Doc Martens--you're gonna want a proportionally bold and large base, i.e. the part that fits around your foot. With these I felt that the base was too flat and boring and simply didn't match the rest of the boot. I imagine that someone who decides to purchase a shoe of this nature probably isn't looking for 'boring'. So, I recommend you opt for something more 'chunkier' such as the 1940s or 1942s. Personally I’ve opted for the 10-eyelet 8761s.

Nice high boot light weight -
I have never had a pair of Docs and always liked the look of the originals. The leather is very stiff but will break in. I have had no heel problems. I added a thin insole and wear with thicker socks. I ordered the 14 eye as I wanted to try a higher than regular boot and they feel real good laced tightly all the way to the top. I may even get a 20 eye.
My big complaint is that the lacing part of the boot is cut so big (I’m average build) that I had to spend money to have a shoe repair person add some padding to the tongue and open up the back and cut down a little so that the boot would lace up snugly like a boot should to give good support.
Boot does not have steel shank. This is a fashion boot, not for heavy duty long hours or tough use.

Comfortable but...
These shoes look great and are very comfortable...to a point. The problem with these (atleast for me) is that they take a VERY long time to break in, and therefore, my feet were raw for a couple weeks. I tried oiling them, and breaking them down as much as I could, but they are still not comfortable. But, I plan on continuning to try, and hopefully they will be okay.

Looks great, but only if you have small calves -
These look great just like the old docs and they fit my wide foot perfectly with a UK 5 (I wear a 7.5-8 in US womens) but I'm going ot have to send them back because they are too skinny around the calf area for me. It seems to me they are skinnier in that area than the old UK made docs but I could be wrong. Either way, if you are a big-calfed girl, look elsewhere or get measurements first.

Dr. Marten's -
The new Dr. Martens are not the ones made in England. These squeek with each step and the sole is thinner. These just don't measure up to the original.
I'd also recommend:
