I had to return a pair when this style just came out. I don't understand why they don't make the thong more comfortable. I love the style and tried all sorts of fixes but they didn't work out. What's up with that? And so many people that can put up with it?

OK, these are fine if all you are doing is standing around, but try walking three city blocks and they turn into a torture device. Between the toes! I don't know what shoe-makers are thinking; have they tried on these shoes? I can't be the only one. I've been looking for a comfortable pair of slide-on sandals to replace the el cheapo Target shoes I bought in 2006 and haven't had the best of luck. These shoes are cute, in a hippie-dippy kind of way, and like I said, they are OK if you are standing around, but I don't just stand around, so they were a big waste of money for me.

Bought these last year, so I have been wearing them for 2 summers. The "birko-flor" is uncomfortable, I would never buy them again. It's hard and inflexible, and in no way compares to the regular Birkenstocks. Runs small, by one size.

The faux leather upper on the upper made these look cheap. In addition, I am a true size 7 and the size 38 was huge on me! I was hoping to like this one instead of the more expensive real leather version. But these are is going back. As always, I do have to commend Zappos on their excellent service! I did not love these sandals, but I absolutely love Zappos!

So cute... but a for a price. I have the Gizah in black, and they are really lovely to look at. They look great with jeans or a skirt. But man, oh man... the rubber thong is a killah. The thong has left the spots between my toes shredded after a couple of months of trying to break them in to no avail. Try the Wolky Serenity... I love that shoe.

Uncomfortable where toe bands are located. They are stiff and dig into my toes. Do not feel like they will ever be flexible enough to be comfortable Also the material is certainly less dense and sturdy from my other Birkenstock sandals.

This was a disappointing purchase. The cork is cracking and the top layer of the footbed is already lifting. They’re only a couple of months old and wear them just a few days a week.

I love the style and look of this shoe, but the shoe was way too big. I am having trouble with Birkenstock shoes as it relates to consistent fit. No two pairs are the same. So sad as they used to be the best shoes for these old tires feet.

Like many other brands, there has been a noticeable decline in quality. These did not even last one season before the cork sole cracked where the ball of my foot sits. I am so disappointed. I used to love these shoes because they lasted forever and were a dream to walk in. They used to last 2-3 years, now I'm lucky to get 6 months of regular wear. This is the second pair that has not held up. They are too expensive to be disposable shoes. Very disappointed and will not purchase again.

I didn't like the plastic between the toes--that felt like it would continue to hurt

Yet again, something that backs up the claim that "they don't make them like they used to." The buckles are made of lightweight plastic as opposed to metal. Not what I expected from Birkenstock nor what I expect of any shoe that costs over $100. Cheap garbage. It wasn't that long ago that I got a pair that was made with a metal buckle. Maybe it's Zappos. Returning and will try ordering directly from Birkenstock.

I really wanted to love these shoes but they run small and when you already wear a size 11, you do not have the option to go up a size.

I really wanted to keep these but the toe separation really hurts! Sadly I had to return and I'm trying another style.

Great Purchase! Great looking, comfortable sandal. A bit risky for me, but am so glad I purchased them! Not so sure I won’t have them in another color before long!

The cork cracked within six months of wearing them. They look great and I LOVE the silver, but they just do not measure up to the Birk quality that I've experienced in the past.

I loved seeing women in Italy wearing this style Birkenstocks, but when they arrived, they fit fine, but there is a ridge that I found VERY uncomfortable at the base of my foot. For that reason, I had to return them.

Love the shoes, but I received the incorrect ones. I ordered the black patent leather, but got the regular black. Also., they were sent without the box. If the box were included, maybe someone could have checked to make sure they were sending the correct shoes.

Clearly had been worn a lot before

Very poor quality. I loved the look and style of the shoe and even ordered it in black as well! However, I have not even had these for a year and the shoe sole has a crack!! For $100 shoes, I expect them to last a little longer!!

I ordered the Gizeh Soft Footbed for $135 directly from Birkenstock online after trying them on in The Walking Company (which didn’t have my color/size). This was my first pair of Birkenstock’s, and I understand that Birkenstock’s need to be worn a certain minimum amount of time to be broken in. I wore mine around the house in small doses, to walk the dog short distances up the street and to get from car to store on a handful of occasions. My feet ached. Not the foot bed, but the top of my foot. It felt like I was straining the muscles in my foot, and after very little wear, my feet started to hurt even when I wasn’t wearing the shoes. I have friends that have serious and long term foot problems and I was petrified to ruin my feet permanently. So I called customer service and told them that the shoes were not working for me, and in fact were doing real damage to my feet, and I would like to return. They refused to take them back!! I spoke to a customer service agent and a supervisor, and they rudely and regularly recited their policy that once worn the shoes cannot be returned. How can I break them in if I don’t wear them? From prior experience, I know that if I bought them at Nordstrom or Zappos or another retail store, I would have been able to return them. Their customer service was rude, unsympathetic and unbending. I can’t believe that Birkenstock will not stand behind their product, especially after I told them that I feared that they were causing permanent damage to my feet. I will never buy another pair of their shoes for myself or any member of my family. Buyer Beware – if you are devoted to this brand, I suggest you buy them retail and not directly. Zappos customer service is amazing of course! Sadly Birkenstock shoes are not.

Unfortunately these were too big and I ordered the right size. I love Birkenstocks and I have not had a pair since I was in high school, but I am afraid to try ordering another pair.
