I love these shoes. I wore out an identical pair over several years and just needed to replace them. I could not find them in a narrow width in person, so I took a chance on ordering online. I loved dealing with Zappos. The shoes were delivered on time, the price was ok, and I felt confident that I could return them if need be. Thank you Zappos and Birkenstock!

So glad Birkenstocks are back in style! They are so comfortable I don't want to wear anything else!

I'm giving 5 stars for comfort because I know these will be fine after a few more days. Though I've worn Birkenstock sandals for 30 years, these were tough getting used to. I'm still hobbling a bit - but it's been better each time I wear. I don't know why it's been such a tough go since I wear thongs all the time. The only thing I can think of is that the thong part on these is very hard plastic. I can wear most of the day now and imagine one day soon I will not even notice. All I can say is hang in there if you're having problems at first and like the shoe. It does indeed get better - and if not trade for the Madrid - now that's one comfy sandal. Also I usually wear a 9, but always get 39 in Birkenstock unless I'm going to wear with socks (yeah, I'm just an old hippie)...in which case I get a 40. Really, you can't go wrong with any Birkenstock-some just take a little more initial tending. These will be great in another week or so and they'll last for years. I had one pair with 11 years of hard wear and they still looked fine (cork insole replaced). I kept just because I loved them but finally had to let them go - a sad farewell.

I bought these in the black patent about three years ago or so and wrote a decent review about them. To summarize the review, I said that the plastic thong piece took some getting used to and even hurt in the beginning, but after wearing them for the better part of a summer, they felt better. However, to update my opinion, I probably should have returned them and gotten, say, the Arizona style instead. I rarely wear the pair of Gizehs and am planning to order a pair of Arizonas soon. I'm keeping the Gizehs, but only to wear around my apartment as houseshoes. Last time I wore them outside (after quite some time without wearing them) I walked a few blocks up the street from home and back, and the webbing in between my toes where the thong piece hits was rubbed raw. So I decided I wouldn't wear them anywhere aside from within my apartment, where obviously the amount of walking is limited. But I'd like to stress that it's simply the thong piece that I don't like. Birkenstocks are wonderful and very comfortable otherwise. The only reason I have a pair of cheap foam flip flops is for when I go camping and wear them in the campground showers! The footbeds in Birkenstocks are amazing, and even if you think you don't have foot problems or posture problems, you'd probably find you're wrong after trying them. Though if you don't like thong sandals, I'd suggest a different style.

They fit great! They look great! I'm wearing them right now. Highly recommend. I will probably get them in a few more colors.

Love these Birkenstocks! The footbed seems narrower than my Arizona-style, so it comes off as more feminine. I am already choosing my next color. I needed an alternative for the Danskos that I've been sporting in the cooler months, and these sandals will provide the support I require.

Love these sandals, which has been a pleasant surprise. I always loved the style, but was reluctant to purchase as I have a difficult time with sandals between my toes. Although stiff at first, I never got a blister or any skin abrasion on my toes and they quickly came to feel totally comfortable. I was also hesitant about the uppers not being leather as my other Birkenstocks are, but once again have been happily surprised that they are just as soft and comfortable as leather is. I have a slim foot, so I ordered one size up in the narrow width and the fit is perfect (I wear 38 reg or 39 narrow). Love them so much I ordered the silver too.

This is a beautiful design on my size 10 (US) foot and I love the way the footbed feels. The upper sandal part is also very soft and easy on the skin. It doesn't cut in. However, the plastic piece that the big and second toe fit around is stiff and excruciatingly painful. I wore these a couple hours for a few days (around the house) and each time I was forced to remove them due to the stiff plastic design of the toe. Super bummed!

These are the best sandals you can wear. I have used the Gizeh for almost 7 years now and I cannot find a sandal that is more comfortable than this. I can stand on them all day without getting sore feet and I can walk with them long distances too. They are also very good quality and very long lasting. My 7 year old silver Gizeh sandals still look like new after a lot of wear summer after summer. 4 years ago I bought another pair in black patent. They are so nice and so versatile. I can wear them with anything. Love them! I buying another pair in a different color this summer. My daughters share them with me and they love them too.

From the picture, I thought the Emerald Isle color was more of a teal, with a hint of metallic. The shoe is actually more of a kelly green (not what I was looking for), with almost a glittery high metallic sheen. I also did not like the look of it on my foot, but that was more due to my own preference. I thought the thong silhouette would have a slimming effect (like other thongs do) to my wide foot, however it simply did not; it looked like a very wide foot in a thong. I have owned other Birkenstock sandals in the past, and will probably own more. Just not this one (though this one would be great for someone who wants a high-sparkle, kelly green comfy sandal, and has an already narrow foot).

Like all Birkenstock's they are very uncomfortable at first-especially between the toes...I wore them around the house for a week and now they fit like a glove! LOVE THEM. They will not leave my feet this spring (if it will ever stay warm) In the meantime they have been my "house slippers"! I also have super high arches-and Birkenstock's are the best "flip flop sub" out there for my problem...oh, and ZILLOW is THE BEST! I can't leave that out! No they didn't pay me to say that. ;)

I am a lover of all things Green and these are amazing. They look more blue in the photo on my computer, but they are actually a lovely shimmering green. As Birks go, these are just as comfy as the next one. The thong is bothersome in the beginning, but quickly improves. They are comfortable and cute. This is my 4th pair of Birks and they are my favorite so far!

These are not your typical Birkenstocks! They are very feminine and stylish with the support you expect from a Birkenstock. Can't wait for spring to show them off!

I have three daughters and ordered these for Valentines day to give to them. The color is beautiful, but had to send all three back and order a size smaller. The smaller pairs fit perfectly and they are all looking forward to wearing them in the spring.

Love this sandal. This is my third time buying this style of Birkenstock and it's a sandal that provides really good support for arches and looks really cute! I've had it in brown and purple before and I really like how sleek the black looks. I wear a size 7.5US but ordered this sandal in a size 37. I think this runs a little small, but it's my preference. Personally, my turnover time with this shoe is about 2 years, but that is with some extreme wear (hiking, tidepooling, exposure to salt water, skateboarding, world traveling). If you want them to last longer, stay away from water!

This sandal is a true lifesaver since I hurt my foot and had to revise my opinion of "fashionable" shoes. Birks are one of very few shoes that I can now wear without foot pain by the end of the day. Sizing is a little different, because I usually wear a 5 1/2 in other brands, and I have to have a 35 in Birkenstocks (a 36 is too long, and 34 is available in girls but it is a touch too short). Thank goodness for Zappos for providing some choices, because not all styles are available in size 35 and thanks to the easy return policy I can determine if I have to have a narrow or normal width depending on the style. Successfully adapting to the Birkenstock footbed requires having exactly the right size. The Gizeh style was the easiest for me to adjust to, because I had worn "thong" style shoes for decades and easily adjusted to the strap between the toes. The cork foot bed required a little more time to become comfortable, but each wearing became more comfortable so just give it the time to become familiar and adjust to your foot, and you'll never want to take them off. By the end of summer, I was crushed that it was really too cold to wear them all winter -- I still wear them every time it warms up and can't wait for spring.

LOVE these shoes! The colour however was much different than the photo. The photo looks raspberry coloured, the shoes look purple. They're still in the box, and I'm still deciding if I'll keep them. Super disappointed.

I bought these when I was 17. I forgot the name until I stumbled upon them on here! I wore them until I had to sew them back together, and we're extra cute with a little stitch in them. Don't get me wrong, these shoes can hold up. I wore them to the river and everywhere. They get better with age. To me that is a good shoe! Buying these again and happy I found an old favorite.

Super comfy, molds to your foot. Strap keeps the sandal snug on your foot, doesn't flop around. I get a lot of compliments on the shiny turquoise color.

Cute, but is lacking in quality (the upper straps). Comfortable, although my "rogue toe" (long second toe on left foot) may start to complain after a while. I'm a solid 8 medium, and ordered the 37. I picked the silver ones -- maybe I will like them better when I self-tan my sun-deprived feet (would look lovely on darker skinned feet!). I almost sent them back, but I haven't had a pair of Birks in a long time, so I will keep them for nostalgic sake. My boyfriend hasn't seen them, and I know he will say "yuck", but I don't care.

Can I just say 'wow'? I have early onset arthritis in my knees and hips from a car accident and when I wear these I have no discomfort whatsoever. I'm planning on getting a pair of Birkenstock shoes next, and plan to never be without a pair again.

pretty much live in Havaiana flip flops but I can't walk too long in them without my feet hurting. I resisted getting Birks for a long time because of the ugly factor, but these are quite nice,not too clompy, and I have to admit, the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn. I wear a size 7.5 or 8 and ordered the same the first time around, but they were huge and I had to return them. I tried the 6-6.5 and they fit perfectly. I will definitely be buying these in other colors.

I suffer with heel spurs so the store clerk advised me to buy the Gizeh sandal,I cannot wear it it hurts my foot every time I put it on and walk for a couple minutes I got to take it off it's too hard for my feet and it hurts,I can't take it back to the store because the do not refund and the time has passed for an exchange so I'm stuck with a shoe I can't even wear

I wear these sandals to everywhere. Birkenstock is known for hippies but giving a good weight at feet, looks nice and match to my simple and relaxed style. good alternative to flip-flops or low-tech sneakers.
