Florida vs. Arizona - I had and loved the Arizona soft footbed shoe, but wanted something a little dressier in a soft footbed--which requires (for me) no break-in period and is comfortable beyond belief! The Florida fit the bill. Birkenstocks seem to run large. I normally wear a size 6 or 6.5 in US sizes. In most European sizes, I wear a 36 or 37. In Birkenstocks, I wear a 35. I got the Florida in a 35 narrow, which fits perfectly. (My foot is a B width; I can wear the regular width, but it's a little wide. Am not sure how someone with a really narrow width foot would do in this shoe - even in the narrow width!) This shoe runs a little shorter in length than the Arizona, which works OK for me--am not sure if this is because this shoe is a narrow width (I have a regular width in the Arizona) or if that's just the way the Florida is designed. The three straps provide a very pretty, more feminine look than the Arizona, but I do not find the Florida's three thin straps, as compared to the Arizona's two thick straps, as supportive. Still, it is a very, very comfortable shoe. Perfect for the office, running around town, or other casual or semi-dressy occasions. I wish the soft footbed shoes came in more colors and in leather, rather than just the micro fiber. I bought the Floridas in the black micro fiber, which is terrific - shows no dirt and the micro fiber seems to be wearing well. (My other shoes are the tan micro fiber - this color shows everything. Most spots come off with a wet washcloth, but not everything.) The micro fiber stretches more easily than most leathers - a mixed blessing. All in all, this is a great around-town shoe! It's pretty and comfortable.

Florida softbed - My first pair of Birkenstocks. Very comfortable. The fit is good with the three adjustable straps. I have just ordered a second pair.

I sizes down one size = good. The sandals came in an unacceptable condition. Looked worn & scratched on the leather. Dissappointed as this is my 2nd pair of birks (different styles) ordered within the last 30 days which had to return due to upper leather in unacceptable condition.

I gave the reg. width a try because narrow are hard to come by. My fault. I also asked for size 5.5 and European 36 is NOT 5-5.5. I have been wearing 5-5.5 for most of my 89 years, including Birkenstocks. I was so excited when I saw my size. Please tell me if the Florida, black oiled leather, size 35 narrow is ever available. Today I am wearing Mayari, black size, size 35 narrow in Birkiflor and they fit perfectly, but I want leather. I'll be 90 in Sept. so maybe you could put a rush on it.

I love Birkenstock’s and have had many pairs but after only 4 days of wearing they are already splitting, so disappointed.

I have worn Birkenstocks for years and will continue to do so! They are comfortable and I wear them every day all day long, even in the house. The styles are many, and the soft footbed is what works best for me, so that's what I always purchase. I have even talked my husband into wearing them, and he also loves them now!

I have had two other pairs of Florida soft beds. Each lasted about 10 years, wearing them about half the days of the year (I prefer boots in the snow ;-) ). I thought I would change things up and try some Arizona's. The top edge of the top strap and the bottom edge of the bottom strap of the Floridas and Arizonas hit the same spots. But the Floridas are so much more comfortable to me. The narrower straps and narrower buckles make a big difference. I understand that Birks require a break-in process, but the Arizonas made the top of my feet feel like they were seriously bruising from the buckle. I was willing to gamble on the straps softening and taking the shape of my foot, but I can't imagine how the buckle would (and I didn't want to risk that much money since after breaking in I couldn't return them). So I returned them and got these Floridas. I love them! I can see how a small amount of breaking in is still in order, but I can still wear them 12 hours a day straight out of the box without wearing socks. I thought that the Arizonas would be more trendy, but my son and husband both argued that the three narrower straps looked more dainty and feminine on me (I had never thought of the word dainty when thinking of Birks ;-) ). So happy with them! If you have never tried Birkenstock Florida soft beds, I would encourage you to do so. Depending on the leather type, there could be a break-in period (don't panic if you get a hot spot), but it won't be long before you'll think of them as old friends. They're not good for me for running but they're my shoe of choice for all-day walking at the state fair and I've worn them on hikes. Highly recommend!

I am a 7 and after reading reviews I ordered a 37. They fit perfectly! Someone said that take whatever size you are and add 30 to get your Birk size. I found that to work for me. Only took a day for my Birkenstock’s to form to my feet. Love the oiled leather look!

Love, love, LOVE these shoes!! These are as comfortable as the Arizona’s, but cuter- much cuter in person than online. The leather felt so soft and I love the color variation of the oiled tobacco leather. It adds interest and gives a cool, vintage look. I am so happy with this purchase!

I wasn’t sure what size to order so I called Zappo’s for advise. I normally wear size 6 in flip flops and sandals but need a 6 1/2 in tennis shoes. They told me to order down a size to 36. I have only had them for a few days but so far so good. The soft bed is comfortable from the start. I have been wearing them for a few hours every afternoon to break them in. No problems with the fit or comfort. The arch support is a good fit for me. They are not pretty sandals by any means but as long as they are comfortable I don’t care. Thank you Zappo for your help and advise.

I wear 9 and 9.5 in most shoes, so I ordered the size 40 in the Florida. i love the style, but the 40 was just too big. Then I ordered a 39 (thanks, Zappos, for the fabulous customer service!) and they are perfect. I put them on this morning to try them out and never took them off until I had to. I love these! I may even order them in a second color . . .

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and I love them. I read the reviews and did buy a size smaller (I wear a 9 and ordered a 39) and I ordered the narrow width and the fit is perfect- I just walked three miles in my new sandals and my feet feel great!

These are the best. I've been wearing Birkenstocks for years but the soft footbed was new to me. Loved them from the moment I slipped them on. Will definitely order soft footbed again.

Love these sandals, my second pair of the same type and I have been buying Birkenstock sandals for several years.

Just what I needed - The fact that it came in narrow was great. I am thinking of another pair. This shoe has been excellent for my troubled feet.

Birkenstock Florida sandle - I love this Florida sandle by Birkenstock. It is so comfortable that you do not have to break it in as you do the other sandles. I would love to see a larger range of colors. Please email me all the colors that it comes in now.

Wouldn't trade it for anything! I received my new Birkenstock's Florida--Soft Footbed just before I went on a 10-day vacation. I had these sandals on every single day, for almost every waking moment! They didn't need any breaking in, yet they are a perfect fit to my foot. I love these sandals!

I replaced old leather Florida original footbed with new soft footbed leather ones. The softbed takes much less time to break in and I like the softer insole better but both foot beds are comfortable. I chose the oiled leather. Love the matte shade and they seem to look nice longer. They Florida is also dressier than the Arizona. I wear a size 8 (I size up for boots) but the 38 fit perfectly even though it says it’s a 7-7.5, I’d say they run a little big but since I have always worn the 38 I knew they would fit (plus the recommend measurements for size of your foot, according to the Birkenstock chart, confirmed that I was a 38). I have worn the narrow/medium (which aren’t truly narrow) on my medium foot but they felt tight during hot weather. So ordered the regular this time for more comfort during the hot weather when feet swell. My foot is at the high end of medium but I don’t need a wide in a regular shoes. So in Birks I am actually in between the widths but now prefer the regular. The only problem I had in breaking in was that the leather straps were very stiff and sharp edged so they cut into the top of my foot from rubbing, no matter how loose or tight I made the straps. This was a surprise since I also replaced an old pair of Arizonas with a new softbed leather pair and the Arizona leather was softer and caused no problems from rubbing. But the Florida is getting better and I am confident the leather will stretch and smooth out. Love the comfort of Birkenstocks once they are broken in.

I ordered the same size and style 2 years ago. This time the shoe felt a half size larger!! Still good quality but sizing is off from 2 years ago.

These are longer and narrower than my last identical pair of Birks. Returning.

Um, what’s up Zappos??? Birks arrived on my porch in a plastic bag. No box and no tag attached. I’ve been purchasing Birks from Zappos for years and never seen this. I’m not convinced they are even authentic. Lots of scratches on the leather too. These are same price as buying directly from Birkenstock so huge disappointment. Buyer beware!!!

This was not a full price quality pair, and not how a new pair of Birkenstocks arrive. There was no tissue or anything in the sandals and the tag on the left sandal is frayed and looks haphazardly attached. They were thrown in the box like seconds that should be 1/2 price…and it is obvious.. one sandal had straps buckled and one didn’t. The left sandal is much looser in the straps and they are defective and not at all the same on left and right. I’m so disappointed, after paying the full retail price. I reordered and I’m hoping they arrive new.

Birks never disappoint!! Mostly that's all I ever wear in the summer. These were the same size I always get, and they're fitting great. I like the three straps. It makes them a little "fancier." LOL!!
