Dr. Marten boots - I ordered these boots for my husband. He was so tickled they were delivered earlier than expected. He has worked in kitchens, as a chef, for eight years in this style of boot. When he tried to replace the last worn out pair, we discovered the shoe stores in our town no longer carried that style. Now I hope we have a reliable source to replace his work boots.

I've had these boots for 5 years, so that's a total of 1825 days of wear give or take a few days for a leap year or two. They're still going strong, definitely the best investment I've ever made in shoes. they've seen more concerts than i can remember, snow, rain, plenty of work and still look practically new. I love these docs, and i wouldn't trade them for any other shoe on the planet.

Docs For Life!!! Docs are more comfortable than any other shoe, boot or trainer I've ever worn, hands down. Once they're properly broken in, they mold perfectly to the contours of your feet and are BEYOND comfortable. The only footwear for stalking the city streets in. They'll have to pry the Docs from my feet in the nursing home one day!!

These boots are the best shoes I've ever owned. Comfort, Style and hardcore durability are what you get with these. A little stiff at first but once broke in they are a 5....

I purchased the steal toe 10 eye boot. I wear them daily with comfort. Cool looking boot-unique. I have had several compliments regarding them. I would recommend this boot.

It's an awesome boot. But this is the wrong shoe to take your kids to the soccer game in--it's all about tucking the pant leg in and wearing it the combat way!!! Extra confidence for those rough nights on the streets. But, only if it doesn't scuff easily. For some of us folks--scuff marks are badges of honor so I guess that doesn't matter...

Nice! Great boots. Only problem is it's taking me a while to break in. Once done, I'm sure I'll never take them off, like all my other Docs.

I purchased these boots not reading the reviews that talked of them being larger. I ordered my regular size and sure enough - too big! But Zappos is so great they let you return and reorder at no charge (who else does this?) and I got a size smaller. Perfect! I am so happy with Zappos - their customer service is the best!

Great boot- Great price- Unbelievably fast shipping- Couldn't ask for better service.

Work Docs - I love all of my Docs, however I do notice that they require a bit of a breaking in period; not too long though, just remember not to lace them too tightly and you should be OK. Soon they will be the most comfortable shoes that you own. And they look great, too.

Good Durability - I had same exact boot, Except the leather was reddish like color. I'm a welder by trade and these boots went through the most grueling tests done by me. They said it was a NON saftey stell cap, well the steel caps can take a good beating and so is the leather is tough but looks beautiful. I had welding sparks, flames, metal blocks, Red hot meatal dropped on my boots and they gave very little damage. I'm not saying its a good welder's boot. But Let me tell ya, the bottoms of the soles ARE NOT fireproof. (Learned that the hard way). All in all there are very EXCELLENT boots.

It was a big surprise to receive the shoes just two days after I ordered them. I found them to be about a half size larger, but after putting in athletic inserts they fit great. It only took about three hours of wearing the boots for them to be broken in.

A classic look, solid boot. But I started wearing Grinders and haven't looked back.

I'm a woman ordering a men's shoe. I ordered a UK6 (i wear a women's 8). Even with my orthotic insert, the boot still felt a little too roomy in the toe box. I'm exchanging for a UK 5 hoping i can still fit the orthotic in a smaller boot. I'll definitely need it, the arch support is relatively flat, and hard. Otherwise i liked the look of this boot, and the steel toe, enough to keep trying to find the right fit.

These are so very handsome. Amazingly uncomfortable, and blissfully quick, to break in...especially around the front top of the foot/ankle. I had returned a size 8 (my normal size) for a size 7. They fit, but I have to wear thick socks or double them. I did not have this issue with my last pair, which were beautifully true to size. I always allow a little extra for the steel toe, but these still feel really loose and I know a size smaller just would not do. All told, still quite happy with this purchase.

I won't sugar-coat it. These boots were uncomfortable to break in. Anything made of durable materials and thick leather is going to require a little work. I'm sure this is not the recommended method, but I dunked the boots in a tub full of hot water, then put them on wet and danced around in them for a couple of hours. It was worth the effort I love them now, and I'm sure they will last a long time. There may be some sort of leather conditioner that might do a similar thing.

The King is dead! Long live the King! I bought my last pair of Docs about the same time I bought my last Soundgarden CD. These are definitely not the same boots. The construction seems comparable, but the leather simply isn't the same grade. It is thinner and already showing some creasing at stress points after only a week break in period. That said, however, they still have that distinctive Dr Martens look that you just can't get any other way. Yeah, it really is as cool as you remember. Do yourself a favor and order one full size down as they are English sized and don't even THINK about wearing them without a decent set of insoles. At this price you would think that insoles would be part of the deal, but you'd be wrong. Expect one bad day and two less than ideal days to break in (especially where the tongue crosses the metatarsal region) but after that they're fairly comfortable for boots of this size and weight. The sole is as advertised, and the black color makes for a more presentable shoe. Use mink oil to help seal, and get some 'Wonder Balsam', as polish ruins the whole effect. You might even throw some STP and Alice in Chains in the rotation.

From 20 Years to the Present... Gosh, I sound so old when I say I've been buying Docs since 1986, but I'm not even 40 :o) I started buying my Docs on St. Marks NYC that long ago. I caved because my favorite daily wear Docs have finally gotten a tear after 7 years (not too shabby and I'm getting them fixed) and they aren't making them anymore. The other DM shoes and boots are fine and will be forever because they don't get daily use. These came the day after I ordered them and I wasn't sure what to expect...the box was the same, but they weren't going to say Made in England. First observation is that the leather isn't that different, though on some boots and shoes I have, it's thicker. The black sole, my favorite and why I chose this boot, seems not to be as dense, but I have no complaint. Amazingly, they are only the second pair out of 15 that didn't require a few weeks of bleeding and pain to break in. I got them this afternoon, put them right on, and just got back from walking/running the dog a little over a mile. That's why I have these boots, believe it or not...to walk the dog at night. I'm really amazed: no ankle blister, no heel blister and no chafing up top. I've had a lot of experience here (and been through a lot of pain) so maybe I have it down pat. My advice is ONE sock, not overly thick, cotton, that fits snugly and won't bunch. A little big on the boot is good (so my 7 is a little big, but that's ok...the 5 is too small), but too big and the heel rubs. Get the right size, DO NOT get them too big. Get the bottom-most laces fairly tight, leave the ankle laces a little loose, and then get the upper ones as tight as you can and still be comfy. I can't stress enough that you shouldn't get them too big...the rubbing is what kills you. Since Zappos let's you send them back for free, try to size down if they have too much room. I have Docs that are brand new after 20 years because I didn't get the size right and you won't ever break those in. I have a wide foot and arch support isn't an issue, but width is and these are perfect. They do run bigger, by a half size, so keep that in mind when ordering. I don't know if I'll get 7 years of walking the dog out of these, but I probably shouldn't have gotten 7 out of the others. It's just a tradition thing, I know, and I'll buy them anyway, but one can still hope. So, no complaints, pretty pleased, and I guess I'll be buying them for another 20 years! Oh (I know this was long), but you CANNOT beat Zappos 110% price match, FREE shipping both ways (and overnight, no less)! Why would you shop anywhere else?

Cool boots! Once we got the right size, my daughter loves these boots! She has gotten lots of compliments on them, and refers her friends to the Zappos website. Be sure to break them in wearing a pair of thick socks to prevent blistering.

I'm Happy - I love Docs. It makes me sad they moved to Thailand/China, but I definitely believe the quality is still high. My last pair was DM Industrials, and I beat on them, as my ONLY shoes/boots for 4 years. They are still OK, but looking ugly and very well worn. I bought this pair and am very happy. I'm 5 days in, been able to wear them every day, but still aren't "broken in". I'd say another week or two. I drive a stick shift, and the first couple days with these are tricky... Mainly, you can't bend your ankle at all. I was really torn between getting a size 12 and 13. My last Docs were 12, and fit perfect, but another pair I have are 12 and too small. I generally take a 13 in most shoes, and going 13 was the correct choice. I really like the look of these boots, but I do wish the toe was a little bit blunter. Badass boots though... I was also digging the 1940's (15 eye) and 1942's (20 eye). I decided that 15 or 20 eyes was too many to be my primary boots. I have to unlace 4 eyes, and then pry open the side of these boots to get them on. After lacing them up for 5 days, I'm glad I got the 10 eye boots. I will be getting a pair of 1942's to add to my repertoire though.

Close enough - Well, first off, Zappos has about the quickest shipping that I've ever encountered. These boots look great, and they're moderately comfortable. However, my family seems to be cursed/blessed, with muscular, stocky legs, and I had a real hard time getting these suckers to fit the first time. I also have high arches, and they've been digging into them somewhat. I've you're a bigger guy (or gal), I'd say that you should get a pair one size up so these things feel and fit more comfortably on your legs.

The Dr. is in. They are pretty nice I suppose. Once broken in (3days- week) they are comfortably worn everyday. I wear a 10 1/2 - in Adio and DVS and I had to order these in a 9. How’s that for sizing accuracy. I ordered a size too big, but I ordered the right size and Zappos sent them fast as sh!t. My return was right on. I buy shoes only from Zappos. No where else.

Good Looking boot, takes a week or two to break-in, would be nice if they were insulated with 400 - 600 gram thinsulate, otherwise it has a good long lasting firm sole.

Doc Martens boot - I like everything about the boot except for one thing. I wear a size 7 1/2. Unfortunately you do not sell the boots in half sizes. So I had to order an 8. The boots are comfortable and look great. I wear them to work and when I ride my motorcycle. I just wish you sold them in 1/2 sizes so I could get a good fit instead of having to wear 2 pairs of socks.

Beat-Down Boots!!! First let me commend ZAPPOS. There is no reason to buy shoes anywhere else. Premiere service, price matching, free overnight shipping, what else do you need? Now the boots: The look is perfect...Fit and comfort is NOT! But, it's better to look good than to feel good. Fit is very roomy, but not long. Insole will provide better fit. Arch support is non existent. These boots appear to be built tuff...time will tell. Doc's aren't perfect, but they are Doc's!!
