I've worn a pair of these almost daily for 12 years!.... 12 years! and still going. seems like boots that have been worn for 12 years would stink a little.... not these. these boots are so amazing! I can't believe i'm here looking for new pair, but then again what else would you replace these with. there are not enough stars to rate these boots

Bigger sizes.
I wear a size fourteen. Sizes 14-16 are quite common these days. They look cool, they just kill my feet by the end of the night. Some wider sizes woulden't hurt either.

What a change!
Wow! I just got my new boots today and they're fantastic. I had an old pair of some generic work boots for almost 2 years now that were falling apart, so I decided to spend some cash and get a pair of Docs. Before I even opened the shoe box, I noticed the difference. These boots are so lightweight! My old pair weighed 5 lbs, which doesnt sound like much, but after 9 hours on your feet, they feel like a ton. After I tried my new Docs on, I noticed a world of other differences, due to their light weight, my feet no longer scuffled when I walked. And the sole on these boots is incredible, there's a bounce in my step that was never there. I can tell that these are going to take some time to work in...but it's definately going to be worth it. I highly recommend these boots for anyone.

I had my first pair of Doc's when I was 13, they were not really worn by women then, but within a year or two had become really popular. They were really cheap about £20. These boots went with me everywhere, when they became a bit tatty they were painted. They lasted me 7 years, that is 7 years of being worn every day!!!
My 2nd pair lasted a little longer 10yrs, but I wasn't riding a motorcycle in these, so weren't dragged along the floor!! When this 2nd pair finally gave up the ghost I decided to go for something different, I bought a pair of CAT boots. They are not the same; I do not have the kind of relationship with these boots as I did my Docs. I am now looking for another pair of docs but the prices in the UK are very high, although when you think about the amount of time they last I suppose it is worth it but as a student it is a little beyond my budget!! That’s why I am now looking at Zappos.com, the prices are a lot cheaper than here in the UK and hopefully when I have saved up enough money the service that zappos.com offer will be as welcoming as their prices!!

Even better than I imagined!
I just bought my first pair of Doc Martens & I'll probably never go back. These shoes are awesome! This is my first day wearing them. I've been on my feet all day. My feet feel just fine & I've yet to de-virginize these shoes. They are quite comfortable actually & they look hella cool. I would normally wear half-sizes. I had to go up to size ten & they fit perfectly. I don't know how your feet will feel in these shoes, but mine are in heaven! Thank you Zappos for your fast & friendly service. I will definately be returning...

These boots are a vital organ.
I inherited a pair of 1460s in purple back in the early 90s, and they were already about 5 years old. I wear them still, nearly every day. They have been all over Europe and the United States with me, and the tread is BALD, but it keeps the dogpoo from sticking when I walk in the park. The upper just split this morning, so I am ordering a new pair, in RED!

I got these boots from a friend of mine that had them for 7 years but seldom wore them. I’ve worn them everyday for a year now, and they feel great. If you get Docs, they will probably outlast your car. Nothing beats Docs and nothing outlasts them. The soles are a little bald but I still wear ‘em and after a year of wear, they have molded to my foot perfectly, making them the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn. Docs are a great investment.

Kick A** Shoes!
I recently got a pair of these boots, in Navy Smooth. I LOVE them! Although, working them in is a little rough on your feet (I type this while looking at the blood on my socks). I'd say that once they're all worked in, they'll be great boots that are really comfortable! It's worth the money!

Wow!
I love the look of these shoes and the comments I get when I wear them. Unfortunately, the soles have cracked on mine after 1.5 years of wear. They're great, though, and I consider them to last a long time even with constant wear.

The Best Shoes.
I love these shoes! I (babysat) this little monster for three days and got $125 for it, but it was worth it. The only problem is finding shoe polish for it.

I have three pairs of docs. Two of them fit a half size too big, and one of them fit perfect…but they are all the same size. I wish the sizing was more consistent with this brand! I feel like if I went a size down these would probably be too small, though, so I’ll probably keep these and use inserts. For reference, I’m a women’s size 9 and that’s what I purchased in these.

Purchased shoes due to reputation of durability and comfort. Have worn for 3 months. Took 2 weeks to break in but very comfortable for tall boots once worn in. The soles are not as bouncy as I imagined, not all way walking shoes but I can wear them all day without discomfort. I really like the style, just leather, laces and rubber, no puffy padding or racing stripes. Buy these mostly for style, but also not bad on comfort. I wear in warehouse on concrete floors 8 hours a day, they do okay but not great.

Comfortable shoes. My only problem is having big feet and narrow calves the boot doesn't tie snug around my leg. Zappos is always great.

Bought these to replace my 10 year old pair. Definitely take a while to break in but once they do they really conform to your foot and ankle. Timeless style with Bouncing Soles!
Only drawback is that they are made out of thinner leather than 10 years ago. Fit is a little snug at first.

I purchased these for my 15-year old daughter. She is the envy of all of her friends! She says that they are super-comfortable and fit perfectly! My only comment is that I purchased the same pair of boots in 1991 -- and the leather was thicker (heavier). The leather on these boots is softer...I am going to assume for comfort!

It's no secret that today's Doc Martens are not as high quality as the Docs from years ago. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is. So with that, I still think Docs are the "comfiest", coolest boot out there.

Christopher from Philipines -
I just bought my son Dr Martens boots. First time he wore it, he said it was too tough, but after a few days, it's getting good and comfortable. Now, he likes it.

A good boot.
After years of wanting a pair, this is my first set of Doc's. I've worn them about a month and they're just now starting to break in to the point that they're getting really comfortable. They do shine up nicely with some saddle soap. (A little hint from Doc Marten is to cover the yellow stitching with tape, before you polish or apply any cleaners, to keep the stitching from staining) These boots seem to be just a little bit longer than I would normally wear, but it is more an annoyance than uncomfortable. One thing that is unusual is that I have to pull the laces really tight, in order to keep my heel from slipping up in the boot. However, all in all this is a good boot and I would recommend it. It will probably be just the first of many Doc's for me!

GOOD SHOES.
I bought the 1460Z series boots with the added tread on the sole, and they're great. I wore them non-stop for almost two years, and only now are the uppers starting to wear out.

I have broader-than-average feet for a woman, so these seemed like a good bet. However, my feet aren't larger in all directions, and while great in the width, these were too big in the height, leaving my feet feeling a little lost inside. Moreover, I have slender ankles (yes, my feet are a sight to behold!), and these didn't quite hold onto them. As Dr Martens doesn't make the style I'm hoping to replace anymore, it's back to the drawing board...

I wish I could write a better review. I've worn Docs daily for over a quarter century. And in that time, as with so much in life, I've seen decline. These boots, while they have the same style and the same initial comfort, do not have anywhere remotely near the durability they once had.
Back in the 90's, I owned two pairs. One got me through high school with daily, hard wear. One got me through college. I retired each pair when the waffle simply wore out and the soles turned wholly slick. They were never retired for poor manufacture. They never fell apart. They never broke. They retained their style and charm.
Over the 2000's, though, despite my daily wear getting lighter as I got older, they wore out more and more quickly. I'm not down to each pair lasting me about 12 months of a desk job and light weekend wear while I run errands.
And all of this while the prices go up and up and up. A pair of black nappa 1460's cost me about $104 10 years ago. My latest pair (April 2018) cost me $154.
That's a 50% price increase for about a 50% durability decrease.
The typical problem I have is that layers of the sole de-laminate. They crack apart and insole padding starts slipping out. (Just this morning, a colleague and I were chatting and he mentioned the pull tag coming right out of his part; his being only about a year old.)
Decreasing quality and increasing price is, in a word, unsustainable.
I buy them out of habit, but the decline has me, sadly, looking elsewhere. It's tough to be a loyal customer--if not devotee--when you feel repeatedly screwed by poor quality. This may be my last pair of Docs.

I bought my first pair of Doc's back in 1996 in England at the Dr. Martens Store in Covent Garden. I wore those boots to death and have never found a pair of boots more comfortable then those (save for my Keen Brooklyn's). However I think I bought the wrong size back then (after about 9 countries and very bloody heels, which loosened up after about 2 months) because after buying my first pair since then. But I continued to where them for another 10 years before giving them up. I have found that I am one of those people that truly fits a size between the US7 and US8. It's true that Docs fit about a 1/2 to a full size bigger than usual...I wear size 9US/8UK in everything. I'm torn because I love these boots but the UK8 is a lot looser than the UK7...and the UK7 is very tight over the width and top of my foot. It's odd that the difference between the the two sizes is so drastic. So I'm torn to return both or just keep the UK8's and get an arch support to ease the loose-ness of the boot. They are really great boots, I just wish they'd make them in 1/2 sizes.

My husband has always loved Dr. Martens boots and was very disappointed with the fit of this pair. They run large by a whole size, but more importantly, they are poorly constructed. Specifically, when tying the laces, it is impossible to tighten them to adjust the boot to the foot because there is an overlap of leather. Also, it is awkward that the heel is not well supported.

Much like other posts from past Doc wearing individuals, the quality is going down having owned multiple pairs over the years. I had a pair of Green 1460's from 1994 and they were removed from closet by my now wife in 2006. They were in rough shape but were still serviceable, at least I thought so. Green was discontinued but when they came back, I jumped at the chance - with a few issues. The color is not dyed through the leather like the older pairs or the blue. Significant because if they scuff it is noticeable & apparent vs blended. Biggest issue is sole separating from bottom of the shoe. Quality has gone down but Zappos customer service is still top notch to make up for it.
