Apparently, people are too lazy to read before they buy. Doc Martens run true to size...if you buy the right size to begin with. I wear a US women's 10. That corresponds to a UK 8. Rule of thumb for most women's Docs: whatever the UK size is, it is 2 sizes bigger for US women i.e. UK 7 = US 9 ... UK 8 = US 10. Not hard at all if you can read. Docs were a better quality in the past as they were made in England. Now they are made in China. This is definitely the consumer's loss. You can still find them made in the UK, but you have to invest time looking. To me, that time is worth it. If I'm going to part with this much money for footwear, it's going to be well-made footwear! 1460's are still my favorite style of Doc Martens.

These are so cool! But they seem to run big. I am going to try the next size down, after first ordering my usual size.

Worth the break-in time! I echo the words of other reviewers: let them break in! I have a pair I bought that I love, and as my boyfriend loves boots and had been dreaming of Docs, I got him a pair in his size. For about a week, I was worried because he got a couple blisters and one shoe felt smaller. Then that week passed, and now he says they fit perfectly and are super-comfortable--he wears them every day! And it's a great looking boot, sleek and not clunky at all.

Great Boot- Boot has a great look. A little lacking on the comfort inside the boot. I wish Doc's came in half sizes. But all in all, I couldn't be happier. The next pair of shoes I get will be these.

Stiff at first- My husband wears these boots to work every day. This is his third pair. His previous Black pair lasted two years. That’s really good for work boots. They are very stiff at first. Wear then a little bit at a time and he says they almost mold to your feet. He loves them and I love buying them on line. No tax no shipping and no going to the mall...

Doc Martens 8 hole - Rec'd quickly and well packed (as always) from Zappos. Doc Martens have been my son's favorite boots for some time and these were a holiday gift. He's worn them continually since opening and says they're comfortable and warm. Four out of four stars.

Good fit- The Docs are true to size, but, as with any new boot, they are tough to break in - be prepared for some blistering! The color is more of a burgundy/cherry red. Because I am on my feet all day, I need extra help: i.e. gel soles, arch supports, etc. So, the perfect fit is a product of a marriage between Doc Martens and Dr. Scholl. Overall, they are just what you expect from Doc Martens: reliable.

Just What I Needed! I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and wear a full leg brace. Doc Martens are the only brand of boots that my brace will fit inside of, but are still very stylish. They come in many colors (I have 9 pair!), are durable, and well worth the price. Thank God for Doc Marten!!

The only boot you need - I've been wearing nothing but Doc's for about twenty years...what else needs to be said?

Best Boots Ever - These are the original, the classic. More comfortable (after a couple of weeks, the footbed will mold itself to your feet) and durable than anything similar, they'll last you every season for years.

Dr Marten's 1460 - I look the boots and they take about a week to break in due to the hard shoe leather. I expect years of use just like my previous two pairs I bought of different models. My only disappointment is that they are now made in CHINA! Dr Marten's was one of the last shoe companies to move manufacturing from Great Britan. I probably will not buy anymore due to I would like to support workers with a real standard of living!

Finally the right size, texture and color in black. I can simply say that three times is the charm for purchasing the Dr. Martens 1460 Series in both in color being black and texture being smooth. I miss the lining that used to be inside the shoe, but the shoe is a classic and does not fade with fashion trends. In addition to my burgundy and Aztec crazy horse pairs, I now have the right size. Sizes 9 and 10 were too small but 11 is just right, since I have Irregular width size.

Great service by Zappos. Ordered on Sunday, received on Tuesday. The Docs are cool and were in excellent condition. They are a little loose in the heel, but I intend to put a decent insole in them. Too bad they don't come in half sizes.

After 20 years in the US Marines, I've worn many types of boots. I will say without hesitation that DM 1460s are the easiest breaking in, most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I used to swear by Altama jungle boots, but no longer. The 1460s are a bit stiff at first, but within two miles, they are thoroughly broken in.

This was my third pair!!!!!!!!! I have many pairs of DM now, and out of all of them I fully recommend the steel toe caps. They have been a foot saver at many many gigs and I wouldn't be without them for any money!!!

Good Shoes - As an EMT I'm on my feet all day and these shoes are comfy - better than klunky boots others wear for the same price if not more.. Zappos gave me quicker shipping than they said they would and I saved a bundle from buying them from the stores. I think that people criticizing Chinese production don't know what they're talking about... the shoes are the exact same.

1460's rule! I have 12 or 13 pairs of this style in various colors and patterns. The only problem I've had with them is break-in. They have a tendency to rub the back of my legs at the top on the outside of the leg. This was solved by cutting the top part off an old pair of socks and putting them over my socks making a double thickness there. No more rubbing. I wear and own nothing but Dr. Martens footware. Love them all.

20+ years of same boot style - I purchased my first pair over 20 years ago in London. They have been all over the world with me, Asia, The USA, all of Europe, Eastern Europe, and still are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. ( I have bought over 15 pair by now..) My only gripe to date is the last pair I bought, in LONDON no less, were made in CHINA??? Whats up with that? The leather and fit were completely different than what the UK mfg. Doc's were. But, after a quick trip to a hot shower, and a complete breakdown with saddle soap, shaving creme and the a slight spit shine with Kiwi polish, they are quite comfortable. ( Damn Marines never wear a pair of boots out of a box, we always break them down, and repolish!~ smiles ) Just wish they were made in UK still, hate to buy Chinese!

First official pair of Docs - I decided on these boots because I have been wanting a pair of Docs for years, but never could find a style I liked in any stores. I know these are among the originals and I prefer a simple, classy, basic look to my shoes. I just got them and they're pretty stiff, and a little loose feeling through the ankle. I could probably have used a half size down but obviously don't have half sizes. I think I'm going to love them once they break in. They look great, just as pictured. I've read many other rave reviews here, and figure that I'll give it a shot and keep 'em!

So Happy! The last pair of Doc's I had lasted me for almost four year's. I found them again on this site and was so happy. Amazing price for these boot's! That was the only thing stopping me from buying another pair before now. I didn't want to spend the money other sites and store's wanted for them. I recieved my boot's today and couldn't be happier. I just have to break them in. Only downfall is no half size's. I can deal with that though to have another pair of my beloved Doc's!
