I had given up buying shoes in the internet because I was always disappointed with the style and/or fit when the shoes actually arrived. But someone recommended Zappos and I gave it a try. The results were outstanding. The shoes were exactly as they appeared and the fit perfect.\r\n These are vastly superior to the Topsider boat shoes I had previously been wearing. These are more styled and far more durable, better support and a much better sole as well as being very comfortable.

Sebago schooner waxy brown - Seems to be the exact same boat shoe Dexter used to make. Takes a couple of weeks to break them in and then you'll wear them until they fall apart - really comfortable. I like the look of the tan better than brown. My first pair was too narrow; Zappos exchanged them and I had the new ones in about two days! You'd be crazy to buy shoes from anyone else...

Casual wide shoe - The Sebago Schooner is one of few shoes that provides a comfortable fit for a foot with a high instep. I purchased the WW size (W was too narrow) and am just breaking them in - they widen with wear so laces help. Otherwise fit is true.

All around good shoe - The only thing I think I should tell people is that I bought a wide size and that it was fine, but didn't appear as wide as some other similar shoes I have bought in the past. I have been wearing them for about two weeks and the leather has expanded a little thus making it even more comfortable. So in summary, the wide size didn't really look like a wide. I gave the shoe four stars for comfort because of its stiff feel. Although the leather quality is excellent, it is definitely stiff feeling even after two weeks of wearing them.

Pleased with the Schooner - This is the first time I've worn a deck shoe by Sebago though I've had a number of their penny loafers over the years. This shoe is stylish and comfortable. I'll probably order another pair soon in a different color.

Not totally happy, but not disappointed! The quality seems ok, but no arch support and the width was narrower than stated.

These are good-looking shoes; I've owned 3 pairs of them. The first two (US made) were great and lasted for years. The most recent pair was imported; the leather was stiffer than the originals and the finish on it scuffed very easily. I had to polish them frequently to keep them looking good. I have high arches and there is little to no arch support, a condition common in boat shoes. My biggest complaint is that the soles have worn almost through - much more quickly than my US versions did. I'm not sure I'd buy another pair.

I'm trying the Dunham boat shoes next - or the Rockports. I've had pretty good luck with those.

I require a wide width shoe (EEE) and thought this might do the trick but while it was plenty long it wasn't nearly wide enough for my foot.

I paid a large premium to purchase this shoe over other brands because I thought that Sebago was a better constructed shoe with more support etc. Wrong! This shoe is no different from a Sperry top-sider, which is about half the price.

This is my second pair of these shoes. The old pair lasted for years and were well built and very comfortable right from the start. The new ones are very flimsy compared to the old ones. No foot bed at all. You feel every pebble you step on almost like you are barefoot. I picked up a wide shoe and it is way too narrow in the front. On the back of one shoe where it is sewn together there is a big lump sewn into the leather. It rubs very bad the back of my foot. I would have sent them back but was on vacation and had to use them for 2 weeks. I would not recommend this shoe due to the poor quality and fit.

These were just too narrow and narrowed too much toward the front especially for me. I'm a size 11.5 medium width. I was also looking for some shoes I could wear without socks and they were not comfortable sock-less. Very nice overall quality, but just not even a close good fit for me - Returning tomorrow.

I've had this shoe about ten months as my default casual shoe (which is not constant as I am a suit). The classic deck shoes of late have been of lesser quality than my historic ones, and when this arrived, it appeared perfect, especially for wear with no socks (my standard for a deck shoe). Now the inner leather heel pad has broken lose, and the glue at the front will no longer hold. It rides down, and the shoe has become unwearable. These were never abused, and still look just barely comfortably broken in from the outside. I've run into this before, and shoe repair doesn't seem to fix the issue. I'll try, but I'd expect about 4x longevity at the price and that these are going to Goodwill.

Schooner Review - The leather on the shoe I received is very hard unlike any other Sebago Product I ever bought. This is the first one that was thru the mail, so I didn't get a change to "try then on". The rear top of the right shoe curls back in towards my Achilles tendon, and gave me a nasty blister.. I'm not happy at all with this pair or product line.

I bought this shoe for our Europe trip. The shoe felt comfortable in the beginning. Strangely though, I am not sure why, my feet started feeling really stiff and painful as I walked in these shoes. After three days of walking through Paris, lower half of my body was tired, painful and stiff. Then we went to London, and after halfway through our tour through the British Museum, I literally could not walk anymore. I had to sit down and miss the whole tour with my family. In the evening we went to Oxford street and bought a pair of Nike sneakers, and what a relief, pain in my feet went away next morning. The rest of the trip I was fine in those Nike sneakers. I have never touched these shoes again after that. Something is wrong with these shoes, or somehow they do not fit my feet. Anyway I would strongly advise everyone against these shoes.

I ordered 9 1/2 WW and it's cut extremely narrow, more like a narrow medium. Very disappointed.. I had to return the shoes.

Another reviewer talked about how much they loved their Dexter Navigators. Me too. But they stopped making them. So I had to find a replacement. I went with Sperry Topsiders. They were great for a few years, then the quality went away. I ordered multiple pairs of Topsiders and had to return them for the same problem. The inside leather liners used to be glued and sewn in. Now they are just glued in. At the leading edge (toward the toe) of the liner would become un glued within a day of wearing them. The leading edge would curl/peal up. Some of the Topsiders I would take out of the box, run my finger along the leading edge, and they would peal up. This is even before I even put them on. So I would return the Sperry Topsiders to Zappos. So you ask why am I talking about Topsiders in this review? A friend told me about Sebago and these Sebago Docksiders. Ordered them and got them today. Took them out of the box, ran my finger along the edge of the leather liner on the right shoe. Perfect. Glue holds. Did the same on the left liner. IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE THE TOPSIDERS. TOTAL FAIL! Simulating with my finger what my foot woudl do, the liner would not last one wearing without pealing up. It pealed up just running my finger along the surface. The Sebago Docksider had the same FAIL as the Sperry Topsider!! I thought, same problem, wonder if these are made in the same factory. Bet they are. Wikipedia says that both Sperry and Segbago are brands owned by the same company, Wolverine. Come on folks, do some quality control. One of the shoes you sent me was glued, one was not. Returning them. Zappos can you pressure them to make good quality shoes?

Ordered Sebago Clovehitch and Schooner models in size 10 (Eur 44), my normal sizes. Both ran very small in length and both were very narrow. So narrow in fact that you could see it looking at the shoe. No need to try it on although I did. Will look for another brand.

DIDN'T HOLD UP - This was my second pair of Sebagos. The first pair worked hard and lasted. My newest pair, purchased in July of 2007 (worn very little) had bad stitching. I've owned them for 18 months. Leather and soles are like new. The stitching is coming apart on one of the shoes, and they're no longer wearable.

Stitching - I have purchase a couple of pair of these before and loved them, this time unfortunately the stitching started to separate after only a few wearings.
