I looked at Sebagos and Sperry, but chose the Dockside because I had then as a kid. They are terrific quality and super comfortable. They took about three days to break in. These shoes are very stylish with shorts or jeans. I am completely happy with my purchase!

Great shoes, although they seem to run a bit small. I usually wear a 12. The 12s were tight out of the box, so I opted to exchange them for 13s. Comfortable, classic, & well-made.

I spent months looking for stylish, well-made, comfortable navy blue dock shoes trimmed in white. Thankfully, Zappos came through again! I purchased the shoes half a size smaller due to casual wearing without socks. These are too stylish to limit them to casual wear only. They are much more comfortable and supportive than Sperry's flat soled shoes. The leather is top quality and does require some time to break in. I highly recommend these shoes.

Overall the shoe is great! It's durable, looks good, and works with so many summer casual outfits. The most important thing to know, in my opinion it does run 1-1.5 of a size large.
I have a wide foot and the shoe does such a great job of accommodating a wide feet that it feels large.
I put some miles on the shoes walking around New Orleans the first week I got the shoe...blister city. Every foot is different, but you may want carry some band-aids if you're going to do any serious walking right away...or be sure the shoe fits perfectly.
The right shoe got me on the back of my Achilles heel/tendon. The left shoe got me on my left ring toe.
Since the first long weekend of wear, the shoe has been blister free.

This is my first pair of Sebago Docksides which I ordered through Zappos after reading many reviews. I love them in every way. They fit like a glove - are "just right" size wise and are so soft and comfortable. I have no hint of tightness, binding or rub points. There style is "spot on"! The quality of construction is excellent - the thickness of the leather is nice and I know these will last with good care. I could not be more pleased! Can I give them a #10 instead of a #5 star rating?

This is my 3rd or 4th pair of Sebago Docksides and I still really like them. I owned over 10 pairs of Sperrys Topsiders before I switched to Sebago and the Sebagos seem to hold up better and look a little nicer. When Sperrys were cheaper it made more sense, but now that they are closer in price, I would go with the Sebagos instead.

This is my first pair of Sebago's and I have to say so I love these shoes. I am tough on my boat shoes and they are holding up just fine. I agree with a few others that it took me a few times wearing them to break them in but now they are nice and comfortable.

Terrific shoes. The only drawback is that they hurt like hell the first couple of times you wear them. I got some truly aching blisters on my heels, but it's worth it in the long run! After a couple of wears, the shoes are now perfect!

Love these shoes, however the inner foot liner wasn't glued down properly and started to hurt the ball of my foot... took them to a cobbler and they fixed it. No biggie, I would order Sebago again. The fit and quality is very good. Took the advice of other reviewer and ordered a 10 1/2 vs an 11.

The shoes are quite comfortable, and look great. The blue color looks better than the pictures. Sharp and easy to break in.

This was my first pair of Docksiders. Nice looking shoes but the leather was so stiff and squeaky. It's hard to imagine they could soften up enough within a reasonable amount of time. I had owned another brand of boat shoes years ago that I could not get to stop squeaking, so I decided to send these back rather than invest money, time and frustration in getting the Docksiders to be quiet and comfortable. Too bad because otherwise I really liked the shoe. I do appreciate Zappos' free return shipping!

These shoes run big! I'm a Nike sneaker size 11.5 (with socks) and I had to downsize to 10.5 (no socks) to get a comfortable fit. Maybe I just have unusually thick socks. These shoes aren't very cushioned! If you walk a lot, you should consider something else. That being said, they're nice to look at.

I love the style of this shoe! It is well-constructed and heavy-duty (and thus a bit hefty, actually). But on the comfort scale, it scores only medium-low. It chaffed the back of my ankle at first, but now it doesn't bother me. Still, the comfort does not impress. Perhaps it will soften over time. I still wear them because of how slammin' they look.

Best shoes ever, classy look for classy people. Will last forever and I have been wearing this type for 20 years now. Big hit overseas and I am lad to see them being sold in the US. Worth every penny. Also shoes arrived in two days as proomised by Zappos, great service by Zappos.

My feet kept rubbing when I was barefoot. These sites should be made to be written barefoot and it was very uncomfortable and left blisters. The quality is very good and if you wear these with socks, they are an excellent pair of shoes. But they didn't fit the need I intended for them.

These are well-made shoes. I find they have a little less support and a less sturdy sole than a pair of Cole Haan topsiders I loved. No problem at all breaking them in. Be sure to get the right size and bend/break down the back of the shoe before wearing it.

I have a pair that are over twenty years old and still love them. I did not wear them for several years after college left at parents house when I got married. Now they are my go to gardening shoes and even have used them to clean the horse stalls. Just hose them clean. I never had a problem breaking them in because I use lexol on them and saddle soap. Same products I use on horse gear.

The best casual shoes available w/o question. My ONLY reason for a return is receiving another identical pair as a gift, just after ordering. Prior to ordering, I was (and still wear a pair from 1990) replacing a treasured pair that got paint on then. STILL, THESE ARE THE BEST SHOES, PERIOD.

The only complaint I have is that naturally they take a while to break in and as with any boat shoe, the only real way to wear them without looking stupid is without socks. So they're uncomfortable for a while and they can hurt your pinky toes and cause blisters at first.

I bought these when my pair of Sperry Billfish fell apart after 3 years. The Docksides seem much better constructed. They took about 2 weeks to break in. Wetting them thoroughly and wearing until dry a couple of times really helped to soften the leather. A couple of coats of saddle soap ($5 in any shoe polish aisle) also helped, and stopped the squeaking noise. There is no arch support in these shoes - not a deal breaker for me, but be forewarned if it is for you. I picked this color because I like the brass eyelets over the black eyelets of the elk brown color. I wear a size 9.5 athletic shoe, but chose a 9 wide for the Docksides, which is a perfect fit without socks.

A great shoe and I'm very happy with it right out the box. The quality of the leather is superb and has a great feel. Though the leather is a bit stiff I have not had the break-in issues that most have commented on. I wore these for days right out of the box with no chaffing issues -- perhaps this is a matter of biomechanics?
The only downside for me is in the cushion of the insole. There's moderate heel to mid arch cushion but nothing in the front of the foot bed. As I walk I tend to push very much off of the balls of my feet and this shoe had my toes and the balls of my feet aching after walking only a couple of miles.
Overall this is an awesome shoe for the style and the quality of materials and build. However, it is not as good for walking as some other makers of boat shoes I have tried.

The look is good but as everyone else states these things are tough. I bought a wide width and they were very tight. I tried them on with socks and then without. They are still kind of tight I could not wear these for more than two hours.
