The Madison boot is an age old tradition in my family. I've been wearing that style at least 35 years with a gap of about 12 years from my most recent purchases. I am disappointed because on all pair, behind the band that stretches across the shoe they are cracking and I have never had that happen.

These are my go to casual dress shoes, and I've been wearing them in now for a full year. They have held up very nicely to this point in time, with the normal wear you'd expect from day to day use. They are comfortable and classy. To address the material concerns of a few other reviewers: The Build quality is exceptional. The material is kidskin leather, which is thinner and smoother then traditional leather. Granted, these are not work boots, so I wouldn't expect them to last traipsing through the wilderness. Without lacing them up fully, the laces tend to drag as if your shoes are untied. And even fully laced up, the laces sometimes tend to come undone. It's not a huge issue enough to deter from my overall satisfaction of the shoes, but it does make me consider swapping out the laces at times. Overall, they are my favorite pair of shoes to date, and my only regret was that I didn't hunt down a pair in the taupe.

Nice looking, but I thought the leather felt stiff and flimsy upon first inspection...though, as it's supposedly kid, it might soften up quite a bit and wear beautifully. I couldn't keep them because they were so narrow. Though marked E, they seemed far narrower than that.

I had high hopes for these shoes. I needed high backed shoes because I need to be able to fit an orthotic into it that has over a 1" heel lift, due to a severe accident I was in. The leather is thin and feels sort of cheap, especially the tongue of the shoe which is very thin and feels more like cardboard with a paper thin layer of leather over it. There is not a nice cushioned insole inside the shoe, it has nothing whatsoever inside of it, unlike almost all other shoes. The shoe does look a little long for the size as others have commented, but it is definitely not big for its size in terms of width and height inside the shoe. I had some trouble fitting the orthotic into the shoe due to the narrow width in the heel, and once it was in there the shoe was too tight on top of my foot. Obviously this is not a problem most people are going to deal with, so take that with a grain of salt, but some people do have custom orthotics these days. That issue aside, the shoes are just okay at best. I did not put both shoes on and walk around, so I cannot comment much about the comfort or how squeaky there are (something many people have pointed out).

Needed a pair of stylish night outshoes, and I decided on these after a lot of research. The size I chose, fits me just right, snug but not too tight. My biggest qualms right out of the box is the almost plastic look and feel of the leather. I know this is far from a work boot, but it is more polished and shiny then I would've thought, which just isn't my taste. The most important thing to acknowledge is the polished leather soles. They have 0 grip off the bat, almost like walking on ice. I'm considering throwing them on and dragging my feet down the road on my motorcycle. Granted, the style is fantastic, and they definitely look the part. I generally hold onto my boots for upwards 2 - 3 years, so I think given some good break in time they will have the function and styling I was going for.

On the Stacy Adams Medison boots that I bought Item #102179 are a very good kind of boots, the thing that I don,t like about they they are too expensive for the type of material that is used in them. Material very thin, look cheap after you have used them for a while they became wrinkle specialty in the front of the toes.I like them because I have to use upper ankle boots to hold me straight up because I had a lower back operation, and you are the only place that I can find them.

I am a Madison fan and own several pair. Bought these to wear with silver or grey suits, based on the pictures shown and the color described as "steel grey". Steel grey, my foot. These shoes are GREEN. They look ok with an olive colored suit or khakis, but they darn sure aren't grey and don't look good with grey.

1. Very thin leather. 2. Very classic look. However, the shoe has a brown rim where the sole meets the boot. It's not an all black boot, which means its not suitable for an all black suit. You can see it in the pictures. 3. Makes noise. Kind of ridiculous. Boot looks good. But not suitable for wearing with a suit because of the brown rim where sole meets boot. Returned.

I use the Madison for daily work in and out of the city. I use them for casual outings, too. Quite versatile and comfortable. With some additional insole cushions, they are easily wearable for 10-12 hours without fatiguing my feet. They fit in a way that makes me walk with confidence.

Though the laces are too short, this shoe looks great, almost like patent leather. I have ordered 3 pair to get the right fit but all of them squeak, considerably more and louder than any shoes I've ever heard! Because of this I doubt I will be keeping them even though I finally got an acceptable fit.

These shoes have been on my "must have" list for a long time and I finally got to order them. As often happens with Zappos, my first choice in size was not available but since the shoe looks like it runs narrow I gambled on the next half-size up, which is really more like a full size difference so I\'ll have to return them. Who knows if my size will become available-I have used the size notification feature of the website many times but have rarely been notified. The shaft lining is plastic, the tongue and rear footbed lining are the same thin, shiny leather as the outside, the instep lining is cotton fabric and the front footbed lining is paper, which is not unusual, but the description says the lining is leather. The shoes squeak alot and the shoe strings are too short to tie. I like the style so much that unless I find something similar, I\'ll reorder from Zappos if they get my size in and replace the shoestrings.

Nice stile but $100 is a bit much for thin leather, non leather lining and they squeak like hell. I still kept them as I can't find another like them in black. Size feels true for me.

Looks sharp, but not great on comfort -
I love the look of this boot, but I find the arch to be too far forward. Plus, the boots make a weird scrunching noise, which I think is the leather breaking in. And a small complaint: the laces the shoes came with were frayed AND too short to actually tie the boot all the way up.

Looks 10, Comfort 3 -
I'm an actor, and I bought these shoes to wear in a show set in the Victorian era. They look great, though they took a week or so to break in – a little uncomfortable at first rubbing against ankle. Not much cushion in the sole – if you'll wear these heavily as I am, you'll want some padded insoles.

Handsome, but...
Bought these for my husband for a dress event, and they are very handsome. Every time he wears them, strangers come up to him and indentify the shoes by name. Stacy Adams Madison has quite a following. My husband says they're very comfortable and wears them all the time now. My only quibble with them is that after he wore them for an hour, the coating on the sole began to peel off, exposing a sole that doesn't look like leather, it looks like...I don't know...particle board. It's weird. If I were wearing them, I would have taken them to a shoemaker to find out what the heck that sole is made of. But my husband loves them too much to part with them or return them.

Madison Not the Best -
The fit is good, but the brackets for the upper laces pop off very easily and need to be replaced. The sole loses its outer skin very quickly.

Ordered the Madison boot on Friday, recieved it on Monday at no extra cost to me. Was not happy with the boot, seemed narrow and a full size larger in the toe. The madison boot was not much to look at either when I recieved it, appeared cheap to me.

These looked nice, but strangely, the shoelaces that came with them were too short to accommodate all of the eyelets. The leather seemed a bit stiff. The only width available was one size larger than my husband usually wears, but he said they were fine, so I assume the boots run narrow. The contrasting light brown at the top of the sole (visible when looking down) is much more obvious in person. My husband rejected these immediately after trying them on (on carpet), because he thought the soles were so smooth that they gave absolutely no traction, and he would fall. Returned.

I haven't owned a pair of these in about 30 years, but it took me 30 minutes to remember how they hurt the top of your ankles. Unfortunately I bought two pairs, black and brown and I'm hating them....

Hello, I just bought my forth pair of the boots. I have a black, grey, and blue pair. I just bought the dark brow pair. I ma very disappointed with the brown covering on the outside of the brown pair. It appears to be some kind of a topically sprayed on covering, and not a real leather stain that is shinable like real leather....has more of a "patent leather artificial look' to it...kinda fake looking...my other boots did not look as bad as the brown pair do....would not buy them again

I bought 14 EE and it should've been comfortable. The toe is too pointed and crams your toes. I have the feeling that any Stacy Adams that have pointed toes will impact your toes. But this hurt my entire foot bottom so I tried using insoles from hiking boots that I have that work, such as Danners and Cabelas but they sure didn't work in these Stacy Adams and I kept having the pain. Because I was on a long trip, too much time went by to return them, so they went to Goodwill. A waste of good money. I wonder if they were made in America, with quality control and proper design - if they would work? Oh well. I ended up buying a similar style Chippewa which totally worked. Very comfortable.
