This is a gorgeous shoe, and very comfortable. However, note well that, for me at least, the sizes run very big. I wear a 15, and ordered a 15, and I probably would need a 13 (maybe a 14, hard to say--but a 15 in this shoe is way, way too big, which is hardly ever the case for other brands).

Saw this shoe and it was perfect for dress up affairs at our Single Action Shooting Society dress up events and reenactment costuming. The people who know the fashion of the Victorian period passed this boot with flying colors. Very comfortable for everyday wear too. I will get another pair in brown on my next order.

The boot! Cons: I had to send it back two times to get the right length and width. Pros: Zappos service is incredible. Now about the boot: This is a great boot for any man -- whether you are teen, 20, 60, etc. It's more interesting than an ordinary oxford yet not hideous like the square-toed, triangle-toed, and ultra-chisel-toed dress shoes. A "timeless" and "classy" style does not always equal "boring" and "conservative" and this shoe is a testament to that fact. This is the Chuck Taylor of dress shoes.

Initially, I ordered the Cognac low quarters and he wanted the boots. I received both items promptly in the mail and sent the Cognac shoes back free of charge and received the Madison black boots after 4 days. He is quite pleased with the suppleness of the leather, the size is perfect. He wore them for the first time this last Saturday and danced the night away. If you must order use Zappos they are the bomb. Thanks for everything. It made for a wonderful birthday surprise. The customer service was excellent which is very rare in America

Overall, a cool boot. About the sizing: I normally wear a 10 (medium width) in almost everything, but with this one, I had to get an 8.5 wide! Thankfully, the shipping was free, because it took three tries to get the right size.

Great shoes, but I had to send them back twice before getting the right size. I normally wear a size 9 in all my other shoes. I had to send back for 8.5 and then I had to send back again for 8 for proper fit. No problem with returns. Just know that this shoe seems to run large in size, at least for me.

I bought these as a present for my husband. After reading the reviews indicating that the boots ran a full size larger, I ordered a 9 instead of his usual 10. The boots fit perfectly and looked great! Very good quality leather and soles. His feet are narrow so the fit was good for him. These are perfect for wearing in winter weather (rain and snow) on dressy occasions. Even though they're boots, they look like dress shoes. I'm giving one less star for comfort because they are a bit stiff at first and need to be broken in, also the leather soles would be slippery if you didn't have a shoe repair shop put on rubber half soles.

The boots are wonderful. They fit beautifully and look fabulous. They are rigid enough to hold their shape, but the leather is lovely and comfortable. They have a high shine on them, so they can be worn for dressier occasions, too.

Runs a full size big, but once exchanged for correct size, it fit right out of the box. No break-in required for comfort.\r\n\r\nAn excellent shoe.

Awesome boot, looks great in person. The only thing is that they are a little long for their size. I've worn a 12 in every shoe for the past 5 years and I ordered an 11 1/2 for this boot because of the reviews saying it ran big. And even then, it was still a little long. I ordered it wider too and that made it fit better as well. Just a heads up. Order this boot smaller.

Very nice boot but wears out quickly - This shoe can be worn without breaking it in, right out of the box. Very comfortable. Quite a few people have asked me who makes the shoe and where I got it. It is a very nice looking dress boot. My only complaint is that the soles don't hold up well. I buy two pairs, wear them every day, and find that after six months the soles get holes. I just buy two more pair and start over.

Beautiful Boot - This boot shines on every level. Hard to believe I got them for this price and I had high hopes from the photo. The cut is beautiful and the foot-bed is really comfortable (I pound the pavement in them in NYC).

Excellent Shoe/Boot - I am very pleased with the Stacy Adams Madison Boot. Very comfortable. If you are looking for a shoe/boot with that dressy vintage look, then these are for you. The leather is very thin and soft and they broke in very easily. Match these boots with a vintage looking suit and overcoat with a nice fedora and people on the street will yield the right of way to you!

Stacy Adams Madison Boot - This is the typical men's shoe that we use for turn of the last century through the 40s plays that we produce at the Theatre for which I work. These shoes are outstanding!

A Winner! I have been buying these boots for over 25 years. I am on my 7th and 8th pair. Great for dress up, the office and casual with shorts and tee. Comfortable and classy.

Good Boooot - This is an excellent shoe, if you need an exact fit this is it. I wear size 12d in most Italian shoes but this one is a 11.5ee don't know why but feels greattt from day 1.

Get ready to spend a little more money to tweak the shoe - I bought the Stacy Madison Boot and the first thing I did was take it to the shoe shop and had them dye the area where the sole is attached black.(it's tan from the factory and looks bad on an all black boot). Secondly, as others have done, I replaced the shoe strings with round black dress shoe strings instead of the flat ones they come with, and third, I had them put gripper on the soles as the soles are so slippery they are almost hazardous. Now I have tweaked the boot to the way it should come from the factory.

Very sharp looking boot; I have had several comments asking where I bought them. They look and feel great on. The only thing I didn’t like was the strings; they were too short, wide, and made the boot look cheap. The only suggestion I would make is to change the strings to a longer and rounded string; this will give the boots a dressier look. I bought these boot in gray and replaced the strings in black. If you like the look and feel of dress boots I strongly suggest buying these boot.
