My Sole Mates! I'm a ridiculous shoe fiend, obsessed with shoes, own great numbers of shoes, can't fit them all into my bedroom. So, given all the choices available to me daily, it's really quite special when a shoe makes it to heavy rotation, and the Frye Women's Harness made it there on the first day! Exceptionally comfy, requires a wee bit of breaking in if your foot tends to be wider, looks amazing with everything from denim, to tweed to girly skirts. This boot was made for minis! I get tons of compliments every time I wear them.

Too good to be true! This is a case of love at first sight. I thought for sure that my high instep would have prevented me from getting my feet in them, but alas, they fit like a dream. The insole is extremely cushy and comfortable. The rubber sole is flexible. Made in the USA. There almost couldn't be a better boot, but I, too, wish the heel were taller. But that's no big deal. Frye's Harness boot is great.

Too flat. I ordered these thinking they were a bit more feminine looking than they are. I would prefer that they have a slightly taller heel, maybe another inch. Frye's are great boots but perhaps a bit too authentic for me.

Wonderfully Tough Boots! Getting these boots was a dream come true. I had lusted after these boots for the longest time after I saw them in an issue of Allure. I was finally able to buy them, and I absolutely LOVE them. They are tough-looking without being clunky or manly. They look like you could tiptoe around and then kick somebody's butt. They are comfortable and warm and have accomplished the impossible... They make me look forward to colder weather so that I can start wearing them again! The best part is that the more you wear them, the better they look. So buy them and wear the heck out of them. You'll love them.

Definitely a classic. These are stylish, rough, and sexy all at the same time. I tend to wear more feminine styles, but I love to pair my tough-girl Fryes with frilly skirts. I like the contrast. People don't know what to think. Frye's are the best. I still have a pair from college ten years ago.

Better Than You Think! This boots are gorgeous! They're not at all masculine looking. In fact, they very feminine with a decided edge. However, I sadly returned mine. I have a narrow foot but a high arch and I was completely unable to get my foot inside the boot. I so wish I could wear them!

As soon as I saw these boots, I knew that I had to have them! These Frye 12R Harness boots in PINK are my favorite boots in the world! I have the 8R and 12R in black which I wear all the time! The pink ones are different than the black ones in fit and leather. The pink leather is softer and is wider than the black ones. There is no break-in period. The first time I wore these boots, I was in a store and the lady in back of me told me that she loved my boots and asked me what brand they were. Since then, I've gotten so many compliments on them! What a great boot! Would love to see them in pink suede!

Just received and they fit great! Many of the reviews say they run narrow however I wear a M width in shoes/boots and the width is fine for me. I had a pair in the smoke color until a few years ago but as I have gotten older my feet have gotten bigger and they no longer fit. It broke my heart to take them to consignment. Now I have a new pair and the fit is great. I am a size 10 in boots and the 10 is perfect. I know Ill have these boots for the next 20+ years so for me they are well worth the investment. The 20% discount and free shipping made it possible for me to add these beauties back into my wardrobe. Thx Frye!

I always order 1/2 size smaller in Frye's like most everyone else & so far that has worked for me with this style & others. I really wanted the Dark Brown Crazy Horse, but the first pair I ordered were noticeably mismatched. I'd expect some variation, but these were different enough to return them reluctantly. However, the color matched the online picture very well. The next 2 pair I ordered didn't look at all like the same color as the first pair - they were darker & duller, a different color altogether, looked more like the Tan than the Dark Brown. Really didn't like them, so back they went, too. Another reviewer also noted the wide variations in this color. I've ordered the Smoke & Chocolate vintage and hopefully one of those will work. The only other comment I'd make is that I wish the shaft was a little narrower for us gals with slim calves - there's quite a gap at the top - which accounts for the 4 stars. Love the style & leather, so hoping I can find a pair that works. Love Zappos too!

I ordered both of these (in tan) and the Harness Strap (in vintage brown) and ultimately ended up returning this pair. I normally wear a 6½ and got a 6, and they were simply too small. They fit if I was barefoot or wearing tights, but still pinched my toes together uncomfortably. I still love the look of these boots and will likely buy a pair in my true size someday!

I've wanted these boots for years. I usually wear either a 7.5 or 8 depending on the shoe. I originally ordered these in an 8 and they were way too big so I reordered a 7.5. They were still a bit too big but what really bothered me was the fit around the calf. I do have pretty skinny calves but these boots looked like galoshes on me, not the look I wanted. I decided to go to a local shoe store that specializes in boots thinking I'd try the 7. They had a pair of Durango Harness boots in a 7 on sale that fit perfectly and were much smaller around the calf. They look almost identical to the Frye's and seem to be of good quality at a much cheaper price. If you've tried Frye's and found the calf too big around, give the Durango's a try.

Love them. However, mine were a bit off on the color and not as comfortable as they should have been. I returned. I think one day I'll get a black pair because these are definitely something I want to own. However, currently, I want a pair of Frye that I'll get the most usage out of. These are not them for me.

Big Heel! Beautiful, well made boot. When I put them on, everything fit except the heel was way too big and slid around when I walked. I worried about the rest of the boot being too tight if I ordered a half size down. Going to try the Harley version from Zappos.com to see if the fit is better.

Frye Boot Fit & Feel - The boots look wonderful and are made quite well. On the negative side, they are very heavy and after awhile, your legs get tired of walking in them. They are very snug around your foot so not good if you have wide feet or want to wear thick socks.

I got these in the taupe suede and they are absolutely gorgeous. They will match everything and can be worn in all seasons. I ordered my usual size 6 and they fit fine; there is a bit of heel slippage but that is normal for a good boot. So why three stars? I put the left boot on and it fit like a dream, almost slipper-like. I am not exaggerating and I am very picky about comfort! But then the right boot was very tight in width. I looked at the soles and it is visibly 1/8" narrower! What gives, Frye? So I ordered a replacement which was so easy thanks to Zappos' unheard of exchange policy (no need to pay up front for the second pair, you just need to make your return within 14 days). So guess what, same thing! Now they are out of stock in my size, so frustrating! If you can get consistent sizing with these boots I am envious because these have the potential to be the perfect boots in terms of style and comfort. I am not sure about the leather styles but the suede will require no break in period.

I admired these boots for ages before finally taking the plunge and purchasing them last autumn. They are definitely high quality-- the leather is gorgeous and supple, and they look fantastic. However, six months later, ultimately I'm a tad disappointed. First off, as many have noted, they run big. I'm basically always a 9 but took an 8 1/2 in these. Secondly, they're immensely difficult to get on and off. Even after they're broken in, getting your foot into these involves significant struggle and twisting... sometimes I find myself choosing to wear other shoes just because I don't feel like dealing with ten minutes of writhing to get my feet into these! More frustratingly, I'm fairly convinced the heel on my left boot is slightly shorter than the heel on my right boot, which is an aggravating quality control issue. It's not awful, but definitely noticeable, especially when I'm walking on hard surfaces like concrete. The thing that's most kept me from loving these, though, is the rubbing at the heel. Even after breaking them in, I absolutely CANNOT wear these for any length of time without my heels getting rubbed raw... even under socks. This isn't after walking miles, either, but fairly short distances. So, while I love the look of these, after six months I'm just lukewarm on them. Put it this way: when I'm grabbing a pair of boots to wear, these are pretty much the last ones I pick, both because of the struggle of getting them on AND the fact that I know I'll end the day with nasty blisters on my heels.

They have changed the leather. It seems cheaper and not as solid in shape. My brown ones are much nicer. I hope they don't start using thinner leather on all the boots! Make them seem less expensive.

I so wanted these boots to fit. They were too tight in the instep (I am a normal b) and the heel room, even if the instep had been perfect, was too much. My foot slipped as I walked. I can only say perhaps my foot was not meant for this boot unless I got a 5.5 wide. And when I normally wear a 6b, wasn't sure that would help. They are gorgeous, but unfortunately, I will need to return them.

Look great, but didn't fit - I love the look of these boots. I ordered the same size as I would normally wear in a shoe, and found the foot to be too narrow, and the leather around the calf was too tight to get on properly. I ordered Frye Veronica's in the same size and they fit perfectly, so I'll be sending these ones back unfortunately.

Love the look, but they hurt - I thought these boots were a little tight and I called Frye and they said they would stretch to meet the shape of my feet. They did not stretch much and they hurt every time I wear them. Zappos was great about shipping though.

Didn't fit right - The shoe LOOKED great! But, it was much too tight in the toe box and much too loose in the heel area. I think these would be best for those with a very evenly shaped foot i.e. same width from heel to toe.

These look awesome and are definitely well made... but the fit was horrible... my five year old had to pull on them to help me get them off! Way too narrow. These didn't run big for me at all; they ran small, unfortunately. They will be going back. :(

I'm disappointed with these boots. I've always heard wonderful things about Fryes, but these just aren't comfortable. I've had them for a year and they're still not broken in - they're stiff and uncomfortable, and they're really heavy. I've got a new pair of black boots coming in the mail (different brand) and will probably give these to a friend once they arrive. The quality of the leather etc is great, but it's almost too great - it's just stiff stiff stiff and won't break in. Maybe if you wear them exclusively for a while, but if you rotate your shoes often, I feel like these would take years to break in. Also, they're very Western looking. Which is fine, I just wasn't expecting them to look quite that much like cowboy boots.

Look good but very painful and heavy . . . These boots look really cool and when I first put them on, although they were uncomfortable and the leather was stiff I thought I could break them in. These boots are VERY difficult to break in, if not impossible - I still haven't done it yet and my feet are in some serious pain several weeks into the process . . . They are also quite narrow and my little toes are either bleeding or blistered after I wear them. I keep trying to break them in because they were so expensive and now they've been worn outside I can't return them. Additionally, they are extremely heavy and after wearing them all day my legs hurt. If you work on a farm, have skinny feet and wear very thick socks - these boots might be great. Other than that, give them a miss.

When will manufacturers realize that not all of us have toothpick legs? I couldn't even get my foot into the foot bed of this boot. After reading all the stellar reviews that claimed it would stretch and it was the go-to boot for everything, I was looking forward to giving it a try. Since it's a very thick leather, good luck with that whole stretching thing. This is definitely a boot for skinny legs and narrow feet. Once the boot is on, I imagine it is quite as difficult to remove as reviewers claimed.
