I bought these thinking that there was a 30% chance I could get them on without a zipper. It was hard, but if I wear slinky socks it works. I love wearing them though. Once they're on they're comfortable and wide enough at the top to pull up over jeans and leggings. Easy to get on with tights. They're great boots, but it will take a long time to get them to the point I can wear them through airport security.

Love these boots and have wanted them for years! Order a half size down. I wear a size 8 shoe/8 1/2 running sneaker but found the size 7 1/2 boot fit me and my foot literally lifted out of the size 8. boot.

These boots are certainly well made and the quality is excellent. But they are not boots to wear all day. They are very heavy boots and your feet are so tired a few hours into wearing them your legs ache. They are stylish and trendy but the heaviness of the weight and the uncomfortable feel is not worth it to me.

I get compliments every time I where these boots. They go well with skinny jeans/cords or tights and a skirt. The square toe allows a wider foot and they are a very versatile "cowboy" boot style; you don't feel like you should be at a hoe-down at all.

The first pair I received were faulty - inner sole lining of one boot was not attached and you could see/feel the nails underneath. Zappos customer service was very prompt and awesome, getting me a replacement pair ASAP.
So far I have not had any issues with wear and tear and think these boots are cool and I wear them at least 3 times a week. Not sure if I would buy the Frye brand again due to the initial quality control issues but am more than happy with Zappos.

These are true to size. But be aware that the leather is very thick and sturdy and more than likely you will have a killer time getting them on and off in the beginning until they stretch. I recommend using a plastic back instead of socks the first times so as to allow your foot to get in and out easily and help you while you stretch them out in the ankle area. They look great, the feel and texture are truly marvelous. The support afforded to the feet is really great. Once they are broken in, they are a pleasure to walk in.

A gorgeous boot! This boot is difficult to size and I just ordered a .5 size smaller. I hope the leather is as nice as these are. These are only going back because they are too big, despite being my size 8.5. So far these are the best looking boot I've seen from Zappos and I own lots of Frye boots from Zappos.

I love these boots. I bought them in a store, and the associate had me put a plastic bag on my foot before trying them on. They will be almost impossible to get on and off at first but will stretch in time as others have said. The tan goes well with just about anything. Those with large calves may have luck with this boot as I did.

We're in a style moment for mid-calf harness boots, but these Fryes are timeless, too. The fashion mags show them with jeans and leggings tucked in or with short dresses and tights.
I'm not young but can wear these well with tucked-in pants; the challenge was my AA width. But a pair of Dr Scholls gel insoles was the perfect solution, adding both support and a snugger fit. Now they're my go-to boots! I love the look and the fit.

My first pair of Frye boots! A girlfriend raves about them so I thought I'd give them a try - plus, I loved this style. When I first got them they felt tight in the toes, but are slowly breaking in. The heel also slipped a little bit, but with a heel insert they're okay. The leather is high quality and therefore stiffer than usual, but they are breaking in and I get a lot if compliments on them! They are a little pricey, but in my opinion it's a high quality product. You get what you pay for.

I found these boots to run about a 1/2 size too large. The shaft was also just a little too tight for my muscular calves, and then very large around the ankle. The fit was all wrong for my short and muscular legs, which is too bad, as I have coveted these boots for a while now. I would recommend the Harness or Engineer 8 for anyone with large calves or short legs.

I read many of the reviews before purchasing these boots. I wish I had listened better to them. Many of them advised to buy a 1/2 size smaller. My feet measure a 4.5, however since no one actually makes this size, I wear a size 5.0. I purchased these boots in a size 5.5, the smallest size available. They were at least one inch too long. They were huge and made my feet look very large. I absolutely loved the boots and hated calling Zappos to return them. I still wanted a pair of Frye boots, and the salesperson was a big help to locate a better boot to fit my small feet. I exchanged these boots for a Veronica Slouch and they fit great. So, if you wear a size 5.o, these are not the boots for you.

I ordered these boots in a half size larger than my usual 7.5 because I have the Frye Carson Cowboy boot and they can get tight throughout the day. But the 8 was far too big, so I would follow everyone's advice and get your regular size. I read a lot of these reviews and no one mentioned the shaft circumference in relation to their calf size. I have athletic calves (16.5") and have a hard time finding boots that fit. These fall just below the "meat" of my calf muscle and I definitely had enough room to fit skinny jeans in with a bit of room to spare, so that was a definite plus for me. I think I am going to return for a size 7.5 to see if they work! The color of the tan vintage is gorgeous and rugged looking, which is what I had hoped for.

I normally wear a size 8-8 1/2 in Frye and an 8 1/2-9 in other brands. I ordered the 8 1/2 and they were way too big for me. Then I ordered the 8, and they still feel too large! These run very large; however, they have cushioning on the inside, so they are comfortable. The heel height is good too. Unfortunately for me, these are too masculine looking and do not fit me right. Oh well! The search continues.

For me these boots were tight across the width of my foot, and so loose in the heel, they felt like flip-flops. I really like the look of the boot, I wanted to keep them. I thought they would stretch in the width, but the looseness in the heel was worrisome. I love the look, feel and weight of these boots. I ordered a 6.5, and the length was right. Just wish they fit.

I like the how easy it is to slip the shoe on and off.
The only issue is the width. I wore normal socks and it made my normal width feet feel like I was cramming them into a narrow shoe. I know leather flexes with wear, but they were painful to walk around the house in for less than an hour.

Very disappointing. A beautiful boot, but the color was more mottled than appeared in the photos and my big toe on my right foot was killing me when I tried them on. Couldn't even walk. Had to send them back.

Loved these boots from afar for a long time and now I have them. Would have given them a 5 for comfort except that they are very stiff, which can be a problem around the ankle after wearing them all day. Hoping they soften up with time.

I love Frye boots. I have a pair of the 12R Harness in Dark Crazy Horse Brown Size 8 and I absolutely love them. I have had them for a couple of years and I know they will last me another 20. Last year I ordered the same boot (Harness 12R in Black size 8) and my feet were swimming in them. They also felt different than my brown boots. Anyways, flash forward to now and I just sent back a 7.5 I ordered the other day. The black boots do not fit the same way the brown ones do. Bummer. I need black boots. I might try the Frye Jane's in Black. Good luck!
