I've worn New Balance 608v4 for many years. When they were discontinued I bought the 608v5 and am greatly disappointed. They look nice and fit okay, but the cushioning I've loved about them is gone. You feel every step you take on concrete whereas the v4 was like walking on a pillow. After a day of shopping I come home with legs that ache. I don't understand why a company that has a good product finds the need to change it. Guess I'll have to start looking at other brands.

Will Not purchase shoes on line again. Love New Balance shoes. I have a problem with my right foot and the arch in my shoe was sewn wrong. Putting pressure on my arch. I will buy again but only if I can try them on before purchasing.

I have been wearing the 608 style for many years. I am now 80 years old. I just bought this shoe in larger size as usual but I noticed that the 608v5 has a different configuration (pattern)on the bottom than the usual 608 as I bought in the past. I put in an extra pad in the shoe as usual but when I walk in the street I feel like I have small lumps in the bottom of my feet. Very uncomfortable. I will not wear them any longer. Why did they change the bottom. It wasn't broke so why did they change it?

Left shoe was too small. I order 13 4E from Zappos all the time. Asics have always been true to size both length and width. I have had success twice with New Balance and two failures with New Balance...both times the left shoe was too small.
I'd also recommend:
Asics is my most dependable brand.

If you e worn New Balance 608s in the past you wont be happy with these. They've completely cheapened them and they will not fit you the same. Ive worn 608s for about 5 yrs . Never again. They've been ruined by the new design!

The 608v5 shoe has a very different outsole compared to the 608v4. The description states that it has a "slip resistant outsole to provide superior traction." I have a Morton's neuroma which requires a roomy toe box and good cushioning. Wearing the 608v5 around the house caused my neuroma to flare up again. Even my custom orthotics didn't provide enough cushioning. The outsole is very stiff and it felt like walking barefoot on a hardwood floor. I had to return these shoes.

Last time I ordered a pair of 608 black W (for wide), the came as 4E. This last pair came as only 2E. I can wear 2E but the 4E are more comfortable.
I didn't see any where in the order form to designate 4E just W for wide.

I'm not using this shoe. I'm disappointed and am returning it. The shoe is a little too short. Otherwise would love it.

Barely able to put my foot into the shoe-- I wear a 10 XW -- and it was way to tight --

I had to send them back, and then bought a half size bigger and there was very little difference.

My shoes are not very old and the fabric on the inside has already started to develop a hole.

I wanted these shoes for a while. My size was always sold out, but was available in a wide width. I got those. Too loose and they they felt like someone else had been wearing them ( they were not used, I don't think). So, they are going back and I will purchase a different style of New Balance.

Too small. No input re: conversion to NB sizing and shoe structure.
No option or documentation for product exchange

I loved my "old" New Balance sneakers with their rounded toe and just right width. This style has a more pointed toe and width that I swim around in. Appearance is clunkier too. I did like the color.

1/2 size over my normal shoe size, the sneakers are stiff and lack comfortable support. While they do look appealing, comfort level is at best mediocre.

I bought per the customer service person. I said the lat pair was too small in the toes. This pair is too d as m as ll too. I sent both pair back. I have a pair of white 608. Great Shoe. Now all to small. They had great ones. Not now. Too many numbers now too

For some reason, the right shoe pinched a whole lot more than the left and after several walking sessions, became too painful to continue using. We returned for refund. Thank you, Zappos, for an easy return process!

The LOOK and construction appears to be the same, but I have the exact same size and width in white that I have purchased for a LONG time, and these black ones are NOT the same. I buy the 2E wide (NOT the EXTRA wide) because I use an arch support insole and this has worked out fine for YEARS. But with these black ones, no matter how tight I get the laces, my heel comes right up out of the shoe. If I wore them for 5 hrs, I would have raw skin on the back of my foot/heel - with normal socks. NOT happy. Might try other colors, but guessing I am stuck with white. And NB probably thinks they are good selling because they are white, and not because the other colors don't fit the same. Once they change the white ones, I will be switching brands, because they don't last that long either. Not made like they used to be!!! Constantly re-gluing the soles back on in various spots. I would pay more for better quality & longer lasting.

I ordered a size 11 with 4E. Zappos sent me a size 11 with 2E model 608. That's OK everybody makes mistakes.
I was hoping to get a NB model 609. I need these sneakers. Please hurry.
I'd also recommend:
Brands with extra width.
