I've used Altra before and have been very happy with them. While the overall comfort of the Experience Flow 2 was the same, the toe box was tight and low. My big toe was pushing out against the side of the shoe, even in the wide width. I exchanged it for the next 1/2 size up but that didn't help - just made it longer. I have wide feet, plantar fascitis, and walk about 3 miles/day. I need a really good cushion and also ample toe space. This model shoe was too narrow and not high enough in the toe box only. The rest of the shoe was ok. Not recommended for wide feet.

I bought these to try as an alternative to my Hokas, which I've worn for 10+ years. These had almost no cushion and while the wider toe box was advertised to be a big distinguishing feature they weren't much different than my Hokas.

Finally my weird feet found their shoes! I have a very narrow heel, high arch and medium to wide ball/toe area. It is just about impossible to find a shoe that supports my foot perfectly, and yet here it is. It sounds like this shoe fits more narrow than the typical Altra, but it could not be more perfect for me. I can wear these literally all day and I don’t have any foot, ankle, knee or back pain. It’s a game changer. The perfect amount of arch support. Perfectly supportive, cloud-like step without feeling wobbly. And ohhhh, the cradled heel…. I LOVE these shoes! I went a half size larger than my typical shoe based on previous reviews, and it’s very comfy, but I think I probably could have been fine with my regular size. These shoes might not be for everyone, but they are absolutely PERFECT if you’ve got the hard to fit combo foot like mine.

I have a pair of the original Altra Experience Flow (recommended by the orthopedic team), and they are great. The Altra Experience Flow 2 (the only one now available) has a slightly different feel, but, most importantly, a different tread pattern. That change in the bottom tread pattern causes the shoes to squeak loudly when on a bare floor! That absolutely doesn't work for me!

I have to return these because I have problem feet and the inside elastic, plus the plastic surrounding the grommets, means they're too tight in several places.

Cheaper materials impacting quality of shoes - The first pair of Altras I purchased were fantastic. I wore them until there were holes in the soles. Bought these as a replacement. The first thing I noticed were the shoelaces - shorter and made with cheaper materials so they are slippery and become easily untied. Then I started getting knee pain. Never had it before. Went to my sports medicine doctor three times. Trying all sorts of stretches and new exercises. Come to realize that the footbed is also made of a cheaper, slippery material. I was compensating to keep my foot from sliding in the shoe, causing the knee pain. Cotton inserts helped with the grip, but I really wish I'd bought a duplicate of my original pair before the company started subbing in cheaper materials to try to save money. I will not be buying a third pair.

Tried my standard size. Too small. Read the reviews to go up one half size. Perfect! So comfortable for walking ling distances.

The forefoot was too narrow for me. Even with laces fully undone, I could barely get my foot inside the shoe

Sole is extremely thick and soft, and pushes weight onto heels in standing. Not what I'm looking for.
