I have spent several years purchasing different hard shells in search of one that didn't leave me cold and clammy on the inside. I finally decided to throw down the money to try the Beta AR. And it was worth EVERY CENT. I have worn it in rain, snow, dry conditions but 45 mph winds, and this jacket has performed beautifully! It is absolutely bomb proof and unbelievably breathable. So impressed! And as an extra bonus, it not only performs better than I expected, but the fit is outstanding. Plenty of room for layers underneath but the cut doesn't make you look like a sack of potatoes when you're bundled up. So much love for this jacket!

I had a Beta SV that was old enough that I don't even remember when I bought it. Decided that it was finally time to reward myself with a new shell. Honestly, I didn't even know what these felt like - it was Covid-time, and I ordered the Beta AR on faith through the site. It's truly amazing - customizable, breathable and ridiculously light. Once, I thought it was my light Japanese rain jacket when I grabbed it out of the closet in the dark. So good. Kingfisher is a great, deep dark blue and the fit is definitely "athletic" - it fits me but without too much room to spare after quarantine 15. Length is great - hits just below the waist.

Bought this last year after a trip where my previous jacket didn't hold up to the weather. Love it! Great wind protection and keeps you very dry without overheating.

Bought this a few months ago and took on trek to Grand Canyon-where snow and rain were in good supply. Liked that the shell was a bot oversized, so that many underlayers fit (and stayed dry). Easy yo take thru airport and on plane

Bought this jacket about a year ago and very happy with it. It is my favorite all-around shell in the Arc'teryx line. I have used it casually in urban environments as a standalone in the rain and as a shell over a puffer in the winter, as well as for high output winter activities in the back country. It fulfills all purposes very well. It is durable but also very aesthetically appealing. I'm 5'8 and around 155lbs and bought a small, which fits almost perfectly aside from the fact that the sleeves are slightly on the longer side.

I chose this Beta AR over Sabre and Alpha because of the lightweight and hand pockets as Sabre is not light and Alpha does not have hand pockets.
I liked Alpha AR with stormhood and lightweight for my bike commute in winter and the designer should add hand pockets. Even climbers will benefit hand pockets as actual use of climbing will be less than 1% if its life and will want hand pockets 99% of its use for rain and skiing.
I cannot buy Alpha for bike commute and Sabre for skiing and Beta for backcountry skiing, i just want one jacket for all activities (actually i have one for summer rain jacket which is Zeta FL and that is great except FL does not come with underarm zips).
If Sabre come with removable powder skirt like a Higher model now does, it would have been a good choice.
For now i use Beta AR for winter and Zeta FL for summer and will wait for a good all in one. You can do it Arcteryx.
All good except;
Beta AR's hood is not stormhood like Alpha or Sabre have,

Wears like iron, fits great, excellent features, quality of materials top notch, versatile for different temps - zero complaints. My second one to be used for mountain biking

Been outside with an Atom Ar under my Beta Ar in 30 MPH winds at 10 degree F and felt like I was sitting by my woodstove.

I bought this several months ago and use it for both a rain jacket and backcountry snowboarding jacket. It works very well for both! Pit zips are great and the hood articulate very well. It does not have a powder skirt but has not been a problem.

I bought this jacket a couple of months ago to replace an older model Beta AR. The new version is lovely, with a different material, stronger zippers and a few new well thought out details. The jacket runs bigger than older models and is a lot wider and longer through the arms.

I bought this shell last winter for ski touring and to bring it to all of my summer treks. I loved it touring. I loved it hiking. I loved it skiing inbounds. I litterally carried it through all of my hikes this summer as a bullet proof protection in case a storm caught up with us. Other than that, it fits nice and looks great!

I bought this jacket about a month ago, unsure if I would be using it the mild fall temperatures in Canada, however I have found use for it almost daily since. It is fully water/wind proof so it immediately takes care of those elements. Only trick is finding something to layer underneath. I run warm and am good with just a thin sweater underneath in 0-10 degree weather. I am an athletic 5'9' build and the small fits great. It is likely to be too small if I use puffier base layers (down). I got the Caribou color and am super pleased with it. The hood is not attached to the main portion of the jacket which is the reason I bought this jacket. I really hate the tugging feeling if you aren't wearing the hood so I opted for this option, with this separate and it does exactly that; very very pleased with this item.

I've had an Alpha SV for decades and used it for every hiking or canoeing trip. It never fails but is becoming a little old. I wanted something equally sturdy but a little longer, a little less bulletproof, not sized for a helmet and a little more appropriate for walking instead of climbing mountains. I bought the Beta AR at your outlet site and it seems to fit the bill beautifully.

Bought as a replacement for a previous version of the Beta AR that lasted 18 years of four season, multi-sport (skiing, hiking, around town) hard use (2 minor fixes by Arc Teryx during it's lifetime until the zippers de-laminated). The new Beta AR has updated zippers, nicer Gore-Tex and a larger hood. I expect another 18 years out of this one.

I've taken this jacket out in a wide variety of conditions
- tropical storms in Mexico
- misty hikes in the Pacific Northwest
- downpours in the Mid Atlantic US
It's fantastic as a wet weather barrier, extremely packable, and the one jacket I trust to keep me dry when I need it to.
Fits well, accommodates a Phase AR + Atom LT for easy layering/warmth. Rolls into its hood and stuffs into a crossbody hipsack for unpredictable weather days. Great jacket to bring with you no matter where you go.

Just bought this after months of research...Have owned Columbia and North face jackets to name a few...Also compared to other skiing and winter jackets, but I am looking for a product that is long lasting and can do what I need it to do...Looks like I made the right choice so far.
Pending long term review.

This was my second major purchase frlm Arcteryx, the first being the Atom AR Jacket.
Both jackets were size 'S' (5'7"; 157lbs; 38"chest; 31waist) and i was hoping that my BetaAR would fit overtop of the Atom...fit beautifully with the hood up...a little cumbersome with the hood off but doable.
so far ive used this in the Western Pa weather, late summer and Autumn, and this jacket kept me warm during a complete downpour with 25-35mph gust. Felt invincible.
While there are other jackets in the lineup that may be superior, this was the best fit all around for camping, hiking, and outdoor work. Additionally the fit overtop of my revised ATOM AR, was a success. Spend the money and be happy.

I bought this jacket a few months ago and have used it a handful of times this fall. It's held up great to the rain.
I really like the fit, as I am shorter, so it hits me in a great spot without being too long. I usually wear a small in tops and that's what I purchased. It leaves lots of room to layer. I wear my synthetic jacket under it and I'm toasty warm. It even leaves room for a vest. I intend to wear it skiing all winter.
The only drawback for me is, having a little wider hips, it's very fitted around my hips. But I couldn't have sized up, or I would have had way too much room in the arms and chest.
My only little complaint, is that it is quite loud. But I'd rather have a bit of crinkling and be warm and dry; than quiet and cold!
I'm really loving it so far!
