I love the fit of this jacket. Roomy enough for layering, and not too long. Hood is very adjustable and protects well. And the Cardinal colour is awesome.
I'm 5'9" and find the sleeves a little long (I wear a large). I have several shells (Arc'teryx and others), and this is my go-to every time.

This is my first Gore-tex jacket, let alone my first 'pro shell' Gore-tex. I can tell you that there is an instance difference when putting this jacket on to others that you may have worn before. I have other jackets but there is a confidence
Arc'teryx beta AR give you that is not like anything eles I've owned. You won't be disappointed if you purchase this jacket. Other brands are a long way behind!!
Thank you Arc'teryx

This is a great jacket that I typically reserve for summer downpours. For my use I probably would be better off with a Beta SL as the AR is not all that packable. I do stuff it into a bag from time to time and it's very wrinkled when I pull it out but the wrinkles seem to disappear on their own after a few minutes. Doesn't really roll up as well as the PacLite material which may be obvious.
I'm 5'8" 150lbs and with a Small it fits well with room to layer just about any mid/insulation-layer including the Atom series.
Waterproof? Yep. 8+ hours of hard downpour tested during one hike and dry as a bone. Notepad and phone in the exterior pockets were dry.
Durable? Yep. I haven't worn this jacket all that much but it has already taken some abuse against rock and gravel and it still looks brand new.
Lightweight? Yep. What does this jacket actually weigh? Feels like nothing.
If you need a wearable shelter from the weather don't hesitate to buy this jacket.

This is the best jacket I've ever owned. I've done tons of hiking/camping/canoeing/etc. with mine and it's always kept me dry and with a good midlayer, warm as well. I have the amazon color which is fantastic. The jacket fits a bit bigger than the Beta SL I replaced with this jacket. This allows more layers to be worn underneath, but does make it slightly larger - something to keep in mind, especially if ordering online.
The fabrics of this jacket are incredible and I'm glad they went to the new front zipper which seems much more robust and durable than the previous version (which already was pretty bomb proof).
I use this jacket to go camping on the weekend and then (as long as it doesn't smell too much like smoke) wear it to work throughout the week. I've never had a jacket this versatile.
I use this jacket as a rain jacket all summer, a wind breaker/rain jacket all spring and fall, and as a winter jacket with a thick fleece jacket underneath all winter. Basically this jacket never leaves my body or my pack.
My girlfriend has the same one in black and she also agrees that this is her absolute favorite piece of clothing.

I got my Beta AR a few months ago and have been putting it through its paces in the mountains, on long bike rides, with heavy packs, and in a growing variety of conditions. When it's not needed, it can fold down to nothing and can sit in a corner of a backpack or even a large pocket, but when it rains, it's like wearing a thin layer of armor. Arc'teryx has reinforced this where it matters and despite some punishing trips through bushes, brambles, and mud that lasted for hours, it still looks brand new. Dirt washes off easily and quickly. Pit zips are an invaluable, higher-end addition and make a difference in rapidly changing weather or altitudes, something I didn't fully appreciate until I had them for the first time in this jacket. Was kind of skeptical about the waterproofing of the zippers, but after a long hike in a downpour and coming out bone dry (the breathability of the Gore-tex fabric really works too), I'm a believer. Finally, fits well at size and exudes high style, but still leaves room for a decently thick underlayer or two since the Beta AR offers virtually no insulation of its own. If you're sitting on the fence, don't bother. It's a keeper.

I have owned the Beta AR for a little over a year and it is the best fitting, best performing rain shell I have ever had. I am 6'4", 200lbs. and the large fits me perfectly. I have used it in a variety of very wet, very windy conditions and it has performed flawlessly. I have owned the "best" rain shells from Mountain Hardwear, TNF, and others. These jackets don't fit me as well and while they perform similarly to the Beta AR initially, they start having performance issues after six months or so. I am confident the Beta AR will perform exceptionally well for years. This jacket is expensive, but if you consider its quality and the performance guarantee, it is more reasonable.

It's been quite a while since I bought my first Arc'Teryx jacket, the Theta AR, and with good reason: I never needed to buy another! I wore it beneath pack straps, scraped it across the craggy surfaces of river bluffs and once during a sudden rainstorm used it as an impromptu bag for my camera equipment. Recently, though, I updated by purchasing a new Beta AR and I'm really liking the versatility of its shorter length. I'm 5' 8", 190lbs and the large size provides the right amount of room for layering when it's cold and hits comfortably right around my waist. Here's to another decade of wear.

I recently bought this jacket for my mountaineering tripsfirst impression. I love the colour: Yukon/Amaranthus/Edziza. The material is fairly thin, and I hope it can withstand my outdoor activities. I hope this jacket is breathable and doesn't create too much condensation/sweat when I wear it. I can't wait to wear this jacket in the field:) Thank you, Arcteryx!

I've had this for a few weeks and so far here's my assessment:
Pros: waterproof and windproof
Love the color
Fot is good overall
Hood is very adjustable and easy to see in - best one I've had
Collar also very adjustable - this is great
Seems durable - time will tell
Cons: very noisy - like wearing a paper bag
Zippers are difficult to move, not smooth
General: fit is good overall but the arms are a bit long.

Used this all of last winter in below 0 degrees celsius weather mostly doing mild output outdoor activities. Really comfotable fit allowing for unrestricted movement even with layers underneath. Breathes wuite well and if it gets too warm the pit zips help a ton.
As I have a beard the stand up collar is a littlebit annoying but other than that I have found no issues with this jacket.

Compare with ALPHA AR JACKET I like Beta AR design better, especially the design of the two front pockets. I was trying to get a better color (red-bright) and was wating for a long time. But Custom Service told me that the new color would not come until in Dec. So finally, I selected the pinkish purple color since I need a replacement for my old Beta AR jacket for this season.

I have had it for 3 years and after 1/2-2 years the GoreTex began detaching around the sleeves.
After just under 3 years one zipper broke, teeth detached in an area leaving a whole between the teeth and the rest of the zipper leaving it not water proof and unusable to zip all the way at least without it breaking further.
Was very very good while it lasted though I expected it to last at least twice as long special when thinking of my very light use pattern and the price tag.
Its a 50/50 for me regarding recommending.
If durability was better this would be the best for all-round use.

I own this and anther arctyex shell because they are the best built. Unfortunately those who aren't perfectly slender climbers will have trouble with the fit in the waist and hem areas. I'm 6' 190 and the large fits fine in the top but the bottom is just a little restrictive.

I shopped around for a Gortex shell to invest in. I chose the Beta specifically for the collar, so please keep it! It's great for keeping out the elements with the hood down. My only complaint is the sizing. I am between xs and small, opted for the small for layering. The shoulders in both sizes seemed to have too much fabric. Some reviews said the jacket wore better after some use, I still find it an issue still. I have broad shoulders and even with layers underneath there is still extra fabric that bunches up in the shoulder area. For the price point, I want it to fit amazing which is why I give it four stars. I'm also not a fan of the colour scheme these days, bring back vibrant mountain colours! Also shout out to Arcteryx customer service, it's a big factor when deciding on Arcteryx so keep up the good work!

I bought the BETA AR Jacket and I am very please with the fit and feel of it! I was surprised how different the colour was from the original website picture. I got the Kingfisher orange and the coat I received is a lot more of a light brown than orange. I expected a different tone but not a different colour.

This is my first Arcteryx Goretex jacket. It is a great jacket overall especially for waterproof and windoroof. The only drawback for this jacket is the hood. It is more designed for people to wear helmet inside, otherwise you need to adjust which could be annoying.

Pretty much everyone has had a similar experience with the jacket. Waterproof, durable, yadda, yadda, yadda. Just one thing, the sleeves are like slender man long. Most places fit alright, ample spaces for layers under, but I am short and can't really downsize from XS, gonna look like I have super long arms. Maybe just the cutting of this year.

This jacket was my first Arc'teryx product and I was so excited when it arrived. The jacket itself feels amazing and the materials are excellent. The only problem is that the sleeves are just crazy long. Like 3 inches too long. I ordered a small and the jacket fits perfectly everywhere else so I wouldn't bother sizing down, especially since I'll usually be wearing this on top of other layers. But I just don't understand why the sleeves are so long. You can tighten the cuffs which is nice but I think I actually have slightly long arms for my size and the sleeves come down to the very tips of my fingers before any adjustments. Just kind of bummed that i have so much extra material bunched up on my arms Overall, almost perfect jacket, the sleeves are truly the only flaw for me.

Just purchased a second one after destroying the last one. My previous Beta AR lasted 10 years. I wasn't very easy on it. Surprised it asked that long. Was happy to buy a new one knowing it would serve me well for the next decade.

This replaced my first beta AR (which I loved until it delaminated after only one season and the pockets would fill with water). I would like to think I simply had a jacket that slipped through the cracks in terms of quality control, especially as none of the quick "fixes" worked either. But oh how I miss that Whiskey Jack colour.
Can't fault the customer service - this was very quickly taken care of for me in terms of a credit and once I could find a replacement (I get it - the outdoors is in an even higher demand during Covid). However I wanted to upgrade to Alpha AR which was to be "restocked in 2 weeks" yet that message lasted for 2 months until I was informed "try Fall 2021". So I'm giving the beta a second chance.
Have high hopes for my replacement especially as the price has since increased and I still think highly of the brand. I can understand wear & tear but I'll be raising my eyebrows if I only get a season out of this. I have no problem paying for quality but that's what I should then receive.
The kingfisher colour is much nicer in reality than online too (apparently I like the bird theme colours). I can still nicely layer underneath too even in an XS. Sleeves a bit long on me but not a big deal in the grand scheme.

I bought this jacket for both backcountry skiing and mtn climbing in the NW where it can get pretty wet. So far i've mostly used it for bc skiing and it has performed very well by keeping me completely dry when snowing hard and of course blocking the wind. It seems to breathe pretty well also. I've also had it out on some mtn climbing trips where it was snowing hard and it performed well. The reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is i wish it came in a shorter sleeve length. I ordered a small which is the correct size for me but the sleeves are just too long for a person of my height.

Practical and versatile coat and seems robust. Has enough features to be worn in extreme weather but is smart enough to be worn casually too. 4/5 as the hood doesn't pack away, but other than that a fantastic hard wearing jacket.

Great jacket...really keeps you dry. The underarm zipper is an excellent feature to have. The velcro around the wrist is very strong. On the down side, I wish it had a packable bag to put it in so you can just hook it onto a backpack

I bought this to replace my Beta LT I had and so glad I did. It's a perfect fit and keeps me dry. I wear this everywhere. The hood is big but not too big and has a cinch if needed. I don't carry a purse/bag if I'm out for a walk, and wished there was an extra chest pocket for my credit card or cash so I can keep my hands in my pocket without worrying that they'd fall out when I take my hands out.
