I have hallux limitus (arthritis of the great toe) and have to find boots that have good toe spread, adequate padding, and less bend in the forefoot area. I must have gone through 30 some pairs of boots and shoes trying to keep my great toes from hurting and bending too much. I struck gold with these. These boots are the BEST!! Great cushioning, but not awkwardly huge looking, fantastic toe spread without looking like a duck, and a rocker motion that allows for less toe bending. These are hands down the most comfortable walking and hiking boots for someone with my foot problems. I have not ordered New Balance for years, and just recently I purchased the 880-v15 which helped a ton with my hallux limitus so I decided to give these a try also. I am done with other brands and I am sold on New Balance again. I think they really understand feet and have been around for years, so they have some experience. I did have to size up a half size (I always have in New Balance) but other than that, I have had no issues with pain or foot fatigue which occurs with improper shoes
