This jacket is awesome! Came just in time for a snowstorm! Super high quality, really breathable and even kept me a bit warm with just a long sleeve under it. Water beads off like no other jacket I've had. Goes well with my atom hoodie! Thank you Arc'teryx!!

Arc'teryx Beta AR (Black Sapphire) Review
I've had this jacket for a few months now and it's been spot on. The fit is excellent, mobility is great, and it works just as well as an everyday walking jacket as it does for proper outdoor use.
For sizing reference, I'm 5'11" (179cm), around 200 lbs (90kg), and I wear a size Large. I run slightly hotter than most, and during skiing temperatures ranging from about -10C to +5C, I wore just a long-sleeve thermal base layer with either a T-shirt or thin fleece underneath and felt perfectly comfortable the whole time.
Breathability has been excellent, especially combined with the pit zips, which made it easy to regulate temperature on warmer days or during harder runs. Waterproofing has also been flawless in snow and wet conditions. Being a shell jacket made layering much easier and more freeing, as I could choose my own insulation depending on conditions rather than being locked into built-in warmth.
I recently took it on a ski trip to Mayrhofen and it performed brilliantly. The helmet-compatible hood has excellent adjustability with the pull cords, and the drop hood design helped keep my lower face and chin protected from wind chill whether fully zipped with the hood up or down.
After plenty of falls on the slopes, the jacket still looks brand new with no noticeable marks or scratches. That's what really sold me on the Beta AR over the Beta SL. The thicker fabric feels much more durable, so you can rough it up without constantly worrying about damaging it.
Overall, this is a solid, versatile shell that feels premium, performs exactly as expected, and is tough enough for skiing, hiking, and everyday wear. I'll definitely get a lot of wear out of it and it's well worth the price tag.

Love this jacket as it has pit zips for venting and keep you nice and dry and warm. Pockets are high enough that you still have access even with a harness on. Tough enough for bushwhacking and takes a a beating on a regular basis with no issues. This is my second BETA AR jacket and my first is 10 years old and still going. Breaths well with the pit zips but if you are working hard you will sweat. Fit is relaxed for and good for mobility and you can fit an ATOM jacket inside for extra insulation if you size it correctly.

So far several very rainy multi-hour North Vancouver morning walks with the dog and a day hike up to Garibaldi Lake in the snow. Great so far. A bit noisy and not insulating at all - but kept me dry as a bone as advertised. I love the large hood, longer fit at the back and longer arms. I'm 6'1", 210 pounds, and wear a medium 2025 Beta AR.

What an amazing jacket, so versatile. I've worn it for work in the Scottish mountains a number of times now in pretty bad weather conditions and it was great. It looks really cool too.

I'm 5'11", 185 lbs and purchased size L to be used as my "everything" shell, with the primary use being downhill skiing, but also serving alpine touring, ice climbing, and backpacking rain shell. The Beta AR will replace a low-end jacket from a competing brand. I considered a dedicated ski shell, but decided on the Beta AR (despite missing a powder skirt and a pass pocket)due to its ridiculously low weight that I think will be generally advantageous. The over-the helmet sized hood is awesome, and is also adjustable to fit nicely without a helmet. The chest pockets are easily accessible while wearing a backpack/hip belt, and it compresses down to almost nothing while not being worn

What a great jacket. I haven't used it in the rain yet but I packed it on a little hike the other day for the wind. I got to the summit and the wind must have been blowing 25mph + and the jacket blocked all of it. I tried on a couple sizes before ordering and the large fit me perfectly, as if it was tailored to my body and didn't leave much room for a puffy so I got an XL. It's a little too big but I think I'd rather have a little extra room. I'm 6' 0" 208lbs slightly muscular

Went fishing with this jacket. New Pfas Goretex still works and it beaded very nicely! The synches on the jacket condensed very well on my body and highly recommend this jacket. It was very breathable and and protected me from sun burn.

I have received the Beta AR jacket. I think the color is Nightscape. I have a Beta AR jacket with the color being Euphoria. The Euphoria colored jacket has been gratin dealing with the rain. If the Nightscape colored Beta AR jacket works as well I will be quite pleased. It is too bad Arcteryx doesn'tmake the Beta AR jacket in the colors Euphoria any more.
I am trying to have the Euphoria Beta AR jacket repaired. There are delamination issues in the sleeves. I am pretty sure the process of fixing the jacket is happening. Pictures and answers about the jacket have been sent to Arcteryx.

I hike, cross-country ski and back-country ski. I intend to use this as a shell, as I had a previous Arcteryx jacket. It should work great for that, just as the previous shell. My complaint is the sleeve length - the sleeve is quite long, going way past the wrist, covering my thumb, and almost to my finger tips. No other jacket I have ever owned had sleeves this long. Hard to hold a ski pole when your thumb is covered. All other aspects of the fit are fine: chest, waist, length, etc. I wear, and purchased, a Medium.

After just a few years of use, the adhesion between panels does not hold and the jacket is literally falling apart. Previous version lasted more than 5 years.

I bought this for half off on a friends and family deal so I'm only upset with spending over 400 and not furious with spending over 900.
The cuffs are horrible. Every time it's raining the cuffs turn into sponges that seep up to both my wrists. Not sure if the rain seeps into and through the Velcro or the stitching at the bottom of the cuffs is the culprit.
And the pockets are useless, they are placed way too high.
Rant over. I wish I bought something else

I think it is an overpriced jacket. I have to return it. Zipper does not work on a cold weather and it does not block the cold.

I had an issue with two other lesser cost Arcteryx Gore-Tex jackets. Leaking on rainy hikes. So I bit the bullet and spent on an upgraded pro jacket. First hike in medium rain the jacket leaked right through basically everywhere. I mean what's the point of charging so much for a jacket that supposed to be waterproof and just fails miserably. It is a nice jacket to wear on hikes but useless in rain. Second and third rain hikes just got worse. You shouldn't have to treat a jacket for waterproofing right out of the box.
