THESE. SHOES. ARE. AWESOME. I recently went on a five week European vacation and purchased these because I wanted a shoe comfortable enough for LOTS of walking, stylish enough to go with every outfit I'd packed, and weatherproof enough to stand up to Europe in December and January. These shoes were just the ticket! The first week of my trip, my friend and I went on an estate sightseeing tour in a tiny town outside of Lisbon; and because we're lazy, we didn't bother to check mile to kilometer distance conversions. We decided it'd be easy enough to walk 2.8 kilometers up a mountain before realizing how long it actually was about an hour later. Then of course we had to walk back down the mountain. By the end of the day, I admit I was exhausted and sweaty and gross, but my feet were still happy in these shoes! My friend refused to believe I was telling the truth, considering we'd practically gone off-trail hiking and I'd been wearing boots with a 2.75 inch heel, but I swear on everything, my feet DID NOT HURT. After the mountain climbing adventure, these shoes came with me (and walked with me!) to Barcelona, Naples, Berlin (where there was lots of ice and snow- and these babies live up to their waterproof description AND have great traction!), Amsterdam, London (where they came with me to the Women's March!), and finally Paris (and they were a champ in the rain). Seriously. I walked literally hundreds of miles in these. And they still look great! Best shoes I've ever purchased.
They do require about a week or two of breaking in, but I bought them in advance so I had plenty of time for that. I bought my normal size and a half size up. My normal size were a little tight in the beginning and the half size up felt slightly roomy, but I took a gamble and kept the the normal considering they're real leather. I'm glad I did because they stretched just enough to fit my foot, but not enough to lose their shape or support. I also added a memory foam cushion and a removable Birkenstock insole for added support and comfort. I wear the Birkenstock insole in most of my shoes to relieve lower back pain, and there was plenty of room for the insert without making the boots feel tight. Honestly, these shoes feel like flats. On more occasions than one, I found myself sprinting through airports to make connections and these shoes felt like trainers. Oh- AND the side zip is convenient and speedy for when you have to slip your shoes off at TSA. Sorry to gush, but I just cannot say enough good things about these shoes!
IMPORTANT NOTE: These shoes would probably not work for someone with a wide foot. My feet are super narrow, and the toe box was perfectly wide enough for me. On the few occasions when it was cold enough to require two pairs of socks, the boots felt a little tight, but after a little more breaking in and or/lace loosening, it wasn't a problem. But if you have long skinny feet (and ankles!) these are the boots for you. I get so frustrated shopping for boots because I'm tall and have larger feet, but I have super skinny legs and boots often look awkward (or require expensive alterations). These shoes fit me AND still looked amazing. Sexy, even! I constantly got complimented on being such a chic and stylish traveler.
I hope they continue to last many more seasons, because I can't stop wearing them. I'm now back home and have access to the rest of my wardrobe, but honestly I'm not even interested in most of my other shoes anymore. BUY THESE!!!

I was very happy with the quality of the boots!! Very comfortable and love that they don't slip on wet surfaces. Warmer than I expected in cold weather!!
The person in these boots is ready to slay. Love that the shoe is waterproof. Love the gray color. Love the flare in the style. Laces are just as easy to use as the zipper. I actually preferred to lace them off an on because of beauty and ease. The zipper is not really necessary. The inside fabric of the shoe is sexy, like a panther pelt, but it also makes your foot slip to front of the shoe and squish your toes. It doesn't help that the toe box is narrow ergo your toes might suffer in these shoes.
If these shoes were a gift (free) I'd take them to a cobbler and lower the heal one inch and stretch the toe box wider to make a more comfortable shoe.
