Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)
Bought these as a replacement for a pair of La Sportiva Akyra GTX that served me really well for 5 years, and still would but with age my feet are getting more susceptible to a little swelling from time to time and the Akyras have developed a few hot spots particularly right under the very bottom lace eyes. Full disclosure, I haven't actually used these on trail yet but I'm highly confident they're going to be great. Wearing them around the house the first day, no hot spots, laces feel great mainly because they don't have a metal eye, they have fabric loops which are a lot more forgiving. Fit like my other Asolos is spot on, perfect size 12 with just enough room for thick socks and keeping the laces loose or thin socks and lacing them a bit more tightly. Width is just average, probably too thin for people with wider feet. I prefer having moderate to little arch support and these fit the bill perfectly. The sole feels fairly stiff which I prefer as they'll be used on rocky trails, but the uppers feel like they'll break in to just the right amount of give. Very pleased with first impressions!
