It depends on how swollen your feet are! That being said, they have an adjustable strap with a hook and loop closure, so you can adjust the width accordingly. Also, the adjustable strap will be really useful once the swelling starts to subside.

I've been a Birkenstock wearer for over 30 years and have always preferred the Zürich--which is a very hard style to find. BUT, the Kyoto is a great substitute! I can wrap my foot comfortably & securely with these sandals and never walk out of them as I walk (which is important to me) I have a very narrow foot and appreciate the swaddle effect of these sandals. I waiver between a size 36 & 37 (No socks=36, Socks=37) My U.S. size is anywhere from 6-7, so it really has depended on the style. With these, I have both 36 & 37 :)

This is a rave! The morning after they arrived I ordered another (identical) pair because I don’t want to risk being without these when the first pair wears out. Unbelievably comfortable and perfect for me because one of my feet is wider than the other. And at the end of the day when that ‘bad’ foot is swollen I can adjust the straps. I have worn Birkenstock Arizona since the 1960s but Kyoto is now my official shoe. Wish they came in red and purple! (By accident, I received Kyoto in Gray/Taupe with the camouflage pattern upper strap and returned them - the upper strap is faux/vegan leather and I didn’t like it at all - but the Taupe Suede is real leather for both the wider portion and the upper strap. That’s a big difference to me!)

This is the best shoe purchase I have made in many years, if not ever. This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and they are absolutely fantastic. Perfect arch support, perfect size/fit and overall extremelly comfortable. I have neuropathy on my feet and for some reason I find the lining of the sole very soothing. These have no cushioning but that is exactly what I was looking for and I find it is not needed. They look lovely and much better than average Birkenstocks to boot. Wish I had bought a pair years ago!

As soon as I hit order, I realized I wasn't sure if these had their soft footbed or not...sadly they don't! With the extra suede across the foot, the hard footbed feels even more rigid, and the edge of the upper cut in a bit. I hope they soon come out with this style in more soft footbed colors other than pink and pale yellow! Then they I might try them again! (This is from a 35 yr long Birkenstock customer!)
