I had Birkenstock for 10 plus years and wear them out. I have decided to give Mephisto a try and was little bit disappointed. Leather not as comfortable as Birkenstock, some edge are rough and cut into the skin, about 1 day break in period. Insole on these sandals is comfortable and you forget you actually have them on, Birkenstock sandals were far from that. Overall, I am very impressed with insole comfort. Yes, I would buy them again and maybe I should have just used nail file to file down some rough edges on one right sandal, but its good now with just one day of wearing.

Really nice shoes. I bought them for my husband who is very picky about sandals. He absolutely loves them! The leather is nice and soft, great arch support and very comfortable shoe overall. It’s his second pair except that one is with the back strap.

Size 41EU felt like a men’s 8 US, even though the listing says men’s size 7 US. So true to size if you go by a European sizes but the US conversion is a size off. They almost fit a man with size 8.5 feet, who has regular width that sometimes appears narrow because of his high arches. The support was excellent for him, but they felt just a bit too snug, almost like a snug sneaker. Immediate comfort and support, but felt a bit narrow with feet spilling out a bit on the sides. I would say they are a true 8 because they would have been more comfortable if they were a bit wide and longer. They look stylish, fancy sporty, perhaps a touch feminine, a good mix of comfort and beauty, definitely can walk comfortably in them. He decided on a Birkenstock backstrap 42 instead of trying a 42 in Mephisto Zeus. Though he is concerned a bit about the initial feel of Birkenstock being a bit too hard. However he is hoping that they will adjust and they do have a more relaxed fit, feeling less restricted and more of the look he is going for. Only thing the Mephisto have a nicer leather quality and doesn’t cut into the top of the foot like Birkenstock.
