My normal foot size is 6-1.2 but I usually order a 7 in shoes/boots that run narrow. I read the reviews about the Iron Ranger (and Red Wing Heritage for women) and decided to go up another 1/2 size to a 7-1/2. My foot is a wide by 1 pink, so I don't need a wide width unless the foot bed is cut narrow.
These boots fit perfectly. The leather is gorgeous, and it does stretch. The fit was a bit tight at first but within 5 minutes of walking around the house in these boots, they are conforming to my feet. Beautiful beautiful footwear. And Made In The USA label on the inside tip of the tongue.

As a fan of Red Wing Heritage boots, I thought it was a great idea to buy these for my wife; I was mistaken. I have four different pairs of men's Iron Rangers (among other models) and I can say unequivocally, the women's Iron Ranger is NOT built to the same standard as the men's. I feel like they swapped durability and longevity for comfort and style. Now, while I can understand this to some extent, the price tag doesn't reflect it - the men's and women's are the same price.
The leather on my (men's) amber harness Iron Rangers feels thicker, tougher. When I hold my boot in my hand, it feels like a good boot. The amber harness women's boot feels cheap. It's very light. The leather feels thinner. The insole isn't a full slab of veg tanned leather like in the men's, it's a piece of soft leather lined squishy foam. On top of that, besides the cheaper insole material, there is a large gap around the outer edge of the insole between it and the actual leather of the shoe that my wife's little toe was falling into.
Maybe her pair was an anomaly, maybe it was a Friday at 4:55pm boot, I don't know. Overall, pretty disappointing for a $320 USA made boot.

Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)I’m a 9.5. Ordered a 9.5. Length was accurate. I have a narrow heel but wide-ish forefoot. Not usually wide enough to necessitate buying wide shoes as long as the design isn’t tapered/pointy in the toe box. These felt nicely snug around my mid foot, but a little too snug around my 4th, 5th, and “6th” toe bone. Not terrible, but not quite enough space to be comfortable.
Leather feels rich a supple, but the amber harness brown wasn’t as interesting as the copper rough and tough offered in the Silversmith style (it’s hard to tell in pictures, but that leather shows lovely orangey-copper creases as the leather bends, creases and breaks in- making it just look richer and better over time). However it might be a better choice if you want the boot to look “new” or more polished.

Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)Sturdy and stylish! I tagged these as narrow because they fit my narrow foot perfectly. Give these a try!
PS: to whomever returned these first… shame on you for stealing the manufacturer box, the felt protective covers and the certificate of authenticity and getting all your money back! And come on Zappos, sending me merchandise in a junky box with no documentation? For $300+, you can do better than that!

Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)These boots fit like a glove. The reviews state that there isn't a lot of wiggle room either in the heel or toe box and that's true. They are not tight, however. They are very comfortable with mid-weight wool socks. It took only one short walk to my office to decide they are perfect and worth the cost. I love how the tongue is sewed farther up the sides than some boots. It stays in place without needing a loop on the front.
