Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)
The European size 39 is commonly made for sizes 8 1/2-9. These boots are definitely an 8 1/2. I wear a 9, so I had to return them.

I normally wear 7.5 but in a boot I go up half size to wear socks inside. Fit with socks is perfect. Style was great – love the square toe and the interesting heel. I do not have particularly skinny calves, but the top of the boot was much too wide/big (read someone else mentioned this)?and it looked funny. I believe they said it was 17 inches at the top and it could’ve been 1 inch smaller and still given you ample room. The strange thing is, it was very tight around my ankle and the leather was stiff. I took them off after wearing on the carpet for 10 min. and I had big dents in my skin. Not sure it would have broken in so unfortunately, they are going back to Zappos‘s.
