It's so hard to find shoes that are zero drop and have a wide toe box, but still have a little (but not too much) cushion. I had high hopes for this shoe, but was ultimately disappointed. As soon as I tried them on, the cushioning in the heel was uncomfortable. The shoe was tight (except in the toes) and the sole is wider than the shoe. There is an extra 1/2 inch on the back of the heel and I found myself tripping as I went down the steps as I kept hitting the heel on the step.

Altra lovers--consider these! After Altra modified the entire style of the Rivera (made it narrow and like a HOKA but kept the same name (!??!), I set out to find a replacement gym shoe. These Topos have the very wide toe box and zero drop I wanted from OG Altras. The wide toe box is what makes them feel very generously wide. You can feel some extra fabric/"bulk" there when your foot bends. I am getting used to that. Note: the gray color reads very white in real life.

Super comfortable yet supportive shoes. I love zero drop shoes for walking and casual use. I am on my feet all day or walking by dogs before and after work. The zero drop on these shoes make a huge difference in comfort, they are light weight, and look good too! Plenty of width for natural toe push off. I do not use these for running though. I use the Topo Cyclone for running and highly recommend them too.

I have lost count of how many pairs of Topo's I have bought, and these are perfect for everyday use. I can wear them to do just about anything, including going on a walk or run, but I am on my feet most of the day and these are fantastic for everyday. Plus they might be the best looking shoe Topo has put out.

I have been wearing the topo ST model of shoes from the very first original ST model and I will be beyond sad if they ever stop producing this shoe!!! If you want a more minimal shoe with a wide toe box then this is the shoe for you! I feel like the ST-5 makes some improvements on what the ST-3/ST-4 provided, especially the stitching on the shoe, I was always tearing holes in the sides of the 3s/4s but the ST-5 seems to have a better stitching pattern to prevent this. The only real note I have on the shoe is that if you order the 'grey' color it is essentially white. I wear my ST's on dirt trails sometimes as well and they are now so dirty and it really shows on the white.
