A for style. F for comfort. The cross strap has elastic in the buckle so when you walk the tension of the shoe fights against you.
It would work well for wide leg jeans and the style and color were fine. The shoe insole runs heel to toe in your typical size. Your heel will be at the edge as well as your toes. If you prefer a little extra length, also try 1/2 size up.
You really can’t customize the fit to make the shoe feel more anchored when you walk, because no matter what, the elastic strap buckle will cause tension across the top of your foot.
If they had made the straps with Velcro and you could anchor them tighter to your foot, it would’ve been a better option.
