These shoes were comfortable right out of the box!

I purchased these for my daughter's not-super-formal wedding. They felt a little tight at first but after a couple days walking around the house in them, with thinner socks, they fell right into place. A 10.5 would probably have been too long and had a sloppy heel cup on me. While the toe box is not very very roomy, it's roomy enough, surprisingly so for a narrow-toed shoe. The material between the toe and laces, with a hand-tooled leather look, is thinner than the material in the toe, heel, or instep, adding to the shoe's ability to flex for a comfort fit. I have an arthritis-related bone spur on the right precisely in the area I'm talking about, and these shoes did not cause a problem. The synthetic leather has a plush backing that contributes to comfort and prevents my foot sliding around. They're stylish too, dressy but modern, and go well with slacks, jacket and tie, or jeans and a polo shirt. Just what I was looking for. I would give 5 stars but I'm concerned about the durability of the synthetic leather based on other reviews I have seen of Steve Madden shoes of this type. So far, so good.
