I have had my Marlons for nearly 8 years. Really. I wear them 2-4 times per week to work, so all day and often through the evening. They are the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever owned, and are right up there with my New Balance walking shoes for overall comfort. Mine have been chewed by a puppy who is now an aging adult dog. The cobbler was able to fix the tooth marks and repair the finish perfectly. I am still on the original sole and heel, with many miles and years to go. Just had them professionally polished again, and they continue to look new. The leather inside is still good; nothing has worn through. My feet are wide (2E) and have high arches. The Marlon handles this at my true length, so I do think the foot box is wider than normal, but hallelujah for that. When I bought them in 2004, I thought the price was extravagant. I had never had shoes that cost a lot a pair. But I have long forgotten the expense and continue to enjoy these shoes day after day. My very highest recommendation!

Love the Shoe: Dislike the Tag - Have had these shoes for a year now. Fantastic. Lived up to the hype and then some. My only knock? The Mephisto label. Do you really want/need a tacky green label on such a nice pair of shoes. It limits their utily as a proper dress shoe.

Most comfortable dress shoe I've found. As a physician I am sometimes on my feet 14 hrs a day with lots of walking while rounding on patients and these shoes have been the most comfortable solution I have found. Proper size is important; I typically wear 9 1/2 medium and in this shoe 10 narrow is the proper size. Craftsmanship is commensurate to the price. Definitely expensive but haven't found a cheaper alternative that is as comfortable and durable. Have a pair of Ecco's that were about half as much money. They have been as durable but not as comfortable. Have tried dress Rockports in the past that were initially quite comfortable but wore out fairly quickly, and became less comfortable as they wore out.

The most comfortable and well-made dress shoes anywhere - I bought my first pair of Marlon’s a month ago, and just ordered another pair in brown. I own ten pairs of Mephisto’s, so I'm used to comfortable shoes. But the Marlon’s are, for my feet, the most comfortable of all. They are also my first pair of Norwegian welt Mephisto’s, and now I understand why they have such a good reputation. The mediums fit my rather wide feet very well. I wear a 14, and the length is just right too. I'm very impressed with the construction and materials of this shoe. It looks like it'll last a very long time, and they can be resoled when needed. The styling is a great compromise that makes them look good with a business suit or with shirt sleeves and tie. Overall, I can't say enough about these shoes. They exceeded my high expectations for them, and I recommend that anyone who needs a shoe like this (most of us, in other words) try a pair on.
