I don't usually buy two of the same in different sizes, but this time I had a hunch (since I have other L'Artiste's and sometimes a 9 can be just a little too snug). In this case (because the back is open, I figured I would be ok either way). So I bought a 9 (40) and 9.5-10 (41). In most cases I am a 9.5 (tennis shoes) or a 9 (sling backs). The 9.5-10 (41) fit better in the toe bed (especially the right foot which seems to be a 1/4 size bigger than the left foot). Going up, gets you a wrap around the ankle that is slightly larger, which makes it loose unless you are at the tightest level of the velcro. That's a tradeoff worth making for the front to have space. Knowing I will be walking in these a lot (and during summer), I opted to keep the larger size. The heel is just right and it is much lighter in weight than a shoe that's typical of clogs, (Danksos, or BOCs). Thank you Zappos for an amazing, no friction return policy.

Super cute and so comfortable right out of the box! I especially love that what appears to be a buckle is actually attached with Velcro. So much easier! The shoes do run a little short- I ordered my usual size 9 and they do fit but just barely. I certainly wouldn’t have ordered them in a smaller size. I think sizing up wouldn’t have worked either, so even though they are a bit of a tweener in size I’m keeping them.

Very comfortable to walk in, the sole is "bouncy" in a good way.

Amazingly comfortable! I wore these for a party that I was hosting. I fully expected it to be painful. When I took them off at the end of the day, I was truly shocked that my feet were in amazing (not tired) shape. I had almost forgotten that I was in shoes! That's saying a lot for me since I prefer bare feet!
