Although suede’s textured surface may attract dirt, scuffs and water spots (perhaps leaving them looking a bit worse for wear), the key to longevity is proper care – and it’s so worth the effort! All it takes is a few tools, a bit of time and a little elbow grease to revive your suede slippers, shoes or boots. WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• Suede protectant
• Suede cleaner
• Bristle brush with light/medium bristles (firm bristles may scratch the suede)
• Water
• Sponge
STEP BY STEP: CLEAN YOUR KOOLAS
Before starting, use your suede brush to brush off any surface dirt or loose particles.
STEP 1: START WITH PROTECTANT
Holding bottle 6 inches away from surface, spray suede protectant on evenly until surface is wet, but not soaked.
STEP 2: LET DRY
Let shoes dry naturally for 24 hours, avoiding direct heat or sunlight.
STEP 3: BRUSH YOUR BOOTS
Once your boots are dry, use your brush to sweep lightly over the suede. Make sure you brush in a single direction.
STEP 4: CLEAN ‘EM UP!
Moisten surface of shoe with clean, damp sponge. Apply a small amount of suede cleaner directly to the sponge and gently scrub in a circular motion. Remove any soap residue as needed, using the sponge. Do not spot clean.
STEP 5: ADD SUPPORT
Stuff shoes with paper towels to maintain shape while they dry.
STEP 6: LET DRY
Let shoes dry naturally for 24 hours, avoiding direct heat or sunlight.
STEP 7: FINAL BRUSH
As the final step, use your suede brush in a single direction to restore original appearance.
ONGOING CARE: KEEP YOUR KOOLAS CLEAN
Now that your Koolas are sparkling clean and looking fresh, a little ongoing attention will go a long way in keeping them looking great:
