Style

The classic Jack Rogers Navajo flat is the go to shoe for summer. Perfect with skirts, shorts or jeans, they somehow manage to be dressy and casual at the same time. I'm a little bit puzzled by some of the reviews that I see regarding the fit, so here's my take on it: these shoes are not intended for anyone with wide feet. Half sizes are marked with a dash on the inside of the strap. Half sizes are the same length as whole sizes, the strap is just slightly wider. I personally think they are sized lengthwise for the half size and are therefore, a little bit long if you truly take a whole size, however, my normal size is a 6 1/2 and the 6 is a perfect fit. The strap is supposed to be very snug at first because the leather is soft and will stretch to the shape of your instep after the first wearing. I suspect that those who return their shoes for a larger size will regret that decision once they are broken in. Also, these are not meant to be walked in for miles as there is zero cushioning or arch support. Save that task for your Tevas. They are, however, perfectly comfortable for the purpose for which they were intended--light shopping or sipping cocktails at the club, so pour yourself a G&T and enjoy!

What has happened to Jack Rogers Palm Beach sandal over the years? They just don't feel or look to be the same quality. A lot of people question online merchants offering "fakes, " but I fully trust Zappos, and I believe it's Jack Rogers who is now out-sourcing these sandals all over the place, so the quality varies. Or, they have purposely lowered the quality to increase profits. Sad. My daughter has an older pair that clearly are made with a leather footbed (they are now a dark brown and nicely burnished) and the top leather strap is soft and supple. Another pair we bought a year or two later are stiff and the footbed is thinner and the top color has actually scratched off in spots--probably inferior leather or some other material. This pair feels the same way as her poorer-quality pair, so we are returning this black pair. They are uncomfortable (as many "Jacks" are, initially), anyway, and we don't feel they are worth the pricetag, despite our love of the look. Maybe I'll compare other pairs from a retail store to see if the quality is any better. Lastly, this pair's size was marked in a pen with "6 1/2." Typically,Jack Rogers' half sizes are marked "6-" to indicated the half-sized. I thought that was odd (although easier to understand for someone not familiar with Jack Rogers sizing). This pair was made in the Dominican Republic.

Cute, timeless flat. The strap across the foot is smaller than on many slides. I found this a huge plus, as this style of shoe often flops around when I walk. However, if you have a very high arch or wide feet, you may find it too tight. The shoes do take a couple of wearings to break in, but are really comfortable once this is done. Do sand or scuff the bottoms before wearing. They are crazy slick right out of the box.

I really like the style of this shoe, and the colors are neutral enough to go with pretty much everything. The bone color is actually a bit lighter than it appears in the picture: it's more like a pale skin tone. I usually take either an 8.5 or a 9, so I initially ordered the 9 and they were definitely too big. The 8.5 seems on the smallish side but it's the better fit, so I'm keeping them. I've only worn these once so far and they did rub my feet a little uncomfortably on the sides and the heel, but I think they'll become more comfortable after I've worn them a few times and broken them in. I also did a fair amount of walking the first day I wore them, so I'm sure that was a factor. Overall, the quality is excellent (I love the real leather) and they're cute and versatile, so I'd recommend them.
