I am returning the second pair of Caroline Pearl because of what I believe is a manufacturer defect in the same place of both pairs. There is a crease in the fabric lining one the shoes in the heel area that makes it uncomfortable to wear. It is in a perfect place to cause a blister. I love Clarks and will continue to buy them. This shoe is great in every way, but there is an unfortunate glitch in the construction of Caroline Pearl.

I found this show comfortable and since i am currently suffering from a sore large toe joint because of a serious injury last year, that is saying something. Although the toe box on this one seems smaller than Roseville Dot, the leather is soft and the bending point when the shoe is flexed does not bother the toe at all. Kind of a miracle. You do need to scooch your foot in, as the opening is smallish, but that did not bother me.
I wear an 8.5 in Clarks in the dress shoes which i wear in stockings and i found the 8.5 in this with a medium wool sock, not a heavy winter sock, fit very well.
The brown is very dark, espresso color. I would have liked a medium brown but what the heck. I was seeking a something to wear come colder weather and this fits the bill.
I have never understood the arch question, so no comment,
