Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)
I've been a wearer of Chaco's Flip for almost 20 years. I bought my first pair for 55 USD, it came with a Vibram sole and I wore these through loads of adventures. They were sturdy and fit great and could walk through anything. After wearing the fabric out, I bought a new pair for $60. The flip no longer had a Vibram sole, but it still had the overall dense rubber construction, and literally lasted me 10 years. I just got the latest iteration of the Chaco flip, and sadly, it's dropped in quality too much to be passed for the same product. The material is lighter and not as sturdy, the foot strap is very loose and does not provide a good fit and causes the sandal to flop around loosely as soon as you lift your foot off the ground. It's also not the same sturdy webbing material. The new tread on the sole is tight and thin; and it may provide decent grip on wet rocks (which is where vibram came in). However it's also perfect for grabbing pebbles and dragging them into your home. To sum it up, the fit is not as good (for me anyways), the construction quality isn't what it used to be, and you have the obnoxious tread. With this new Flip, you're basically getting the quality of a $35 flip flop for 60 dollars before shipping/tax. I used to be a fan of Chaco, but I won't look at their products anymore. I don't like being taken for a fool, which is exactly what they are doing here, selling a cheap flip flop for a price that would make you expect more... I know it's 2022, but for 60 bucks you should still expect more than a basic flip flop.

My previous pair of the same flip flop was perfect, but the soles have finally worn out. This version is really weird. The straps are vastly too long. They sit proud of the top of my foot by about a half inch. The only way to walk in them is to grip the post between your big and 2nd toes. Unwearable for a normal foot volume. If you have a large volume foot (measured sole to dorsum of foot), you may wish to try these. Everyone else, steer clear.

I previously owned Chaco flip flops that I loved, so I was surprised and disappointed when these arrived and I immediately discovered the straps were much to loose - they floated about half an inch over the top of my foot. I have a normal instep, so this was a design or construction problem. I had to return them.

These aren't the "classic" flips you may have known. Biggest problems here are the soles and straps. The soles feel like a different material, softer than the original, not what I was expecting. I have previously owned three pairs of their flips, these don't fit the same. The straps are way looser, I can fit the fat side of my thumb between my feet and the strap, whereas the previous version had a tight fit, they weren't going anywhere. These fall off if my foot tilts slightly downward. Not a keeper

The word 'Classic' is a misnomer. There's nothing classic about these. If you're a longtime Chacos wearer (Vibram soles) you will be dissapointed. One look and one handling in the hand, before you even put them on, you can tell: they just feel cheap. Everything stated in the other reviews is true; ill-fitting straps (they might fit Sasquatch), ridiculously unsupportive soles (which is what Chacos prides itself on), cheaply made webbing on the straps, etc. Sadly, there's actually nothing positive to say except: I like the navy color scheme and design; reminds me of Space Invaders. Too bad- I'd love to keep these. I wish the Chacos company would get some people in development and design that have some institutional history of exactly what this company once was. To Zappos: I'm gonna take my money to eBay and buy some used ones and throw 'em in the wash.
