Purchased these Bed Stu Glaye boots 12/2016 in the "Teak Rustic" color (but custom dyed them because I didn't like the brown or rustic black). They are beautiful boots and extremely well made. I looked and looked for a pair of tall boots, and chose Glaye because I love the style of the boot with the dual Zippers. Initially when I bought them I was in love. I had wanted a tighter fitting boot, and per the descriptions and reviews, I thought these were gonna be it... but that wasn't the case. The more I wore them, the less I liked them. They're super gape-y just about everywhere, not snug like I wanted. Now... after reading the reviews, I sized up, and bought a size 11 (my norm is closer to a 9.5-10), overall, these boots were WAY too big. Per my measurements, the max calf circumference is just shy of 17", the ankle circumference is 12", the height from floor to top is 19", the length of the foot (measuring from the sole bottom) is 11.75" (heel to tip of the toe), and the stacked leather heel is just shy of 1.5", As a reference, I am 5'8", ~140lbs, my max calf circumference is 14.5", my max just-below-the-knee circumference is 13".

I read the reviews after I received the boots to see if anyone else felt they were a little on the smaller side, because when I first put them on I was surprised by the comfort and fit. I have the Manchester Bed Stu boots and they are super comfy and true to size. Because of the quality of the brand I decided to try breaking them in. I would hate to order the next size up only to find that they are too big once they break in. I used a hot hair dryer and some thick socks to soften them up before I left the house and wore them to run errands and they were totally fine and my feet didn’t hurt at all. I can only imagine that after a few more times out and about these are going to become my favorite boots.

I had been searching for a quality pair of brown riding boots I could have for years. After trying on a bunch of different Fryes and not being pleased with how they fit, these ones came to the rescue! The leather is BEAUTIFUL, and most importantly they are structured--I hate when riding boots crinkle and shift too much when I walk. Plus, the bottoms have amazing traction. I am normally an 8, but bought an 8.5 in these based on other reviews. They're tight but in a good way--and it seems like they'll stretch out in all the right ways as the weeks go on :) if you've been a Frye lover but have been disappointed in how some of their riding boots fit (the Melissa, for example--crazy!!) then Bed Stu might be your new best friend. Size: I usually wear 7-7.5 and ordered the 7.5. I have SmartWool socks on, not too thick. The boots feel quite snug and hurt at my left ankle; I am concerned I will have a serious "break in" period ahead of me, and may not be able to wear thick woolen socks...So I am wearing them now for awhile sitting at my computer to see if they soften or mold to my ankle; additionally, I just ordered a size 8 (which I never wear) to see if that is better. My calf circumference is 13 3/4" at the widest and the boots measure 15" circumference at the widest. Not for wide calves -- I had to stuff mine in! Other than the ankle issue, however, they are basically comfortable. Style: I ordered the Tan Rustic and they are absolutely gorgeous; as gorgeous as such tremendously distressed boots can be! The leather is a caramel with some white splashed all over. The interior leather is gorgeous too. One of the cool things about them is that they are a very straight profile; somehow, they blend the clunkier sole with a relatively sleek look. The photos above are exactly how they look on my leg -- very straight up and down, and narrow. The leather is profoundly distressed; its almost funny to see how they flung white paint here and there. But they are not white -- they are tan/caramel/natural leather. The overall look is just great and I don't think I need to tell you how great they look with skinny jeans! Love the red soles. These boots are stunning and worth every penny! I have been in search of a riding style boot with a lug sole for sometime. Leave it to Bed Stu to make such a high quality boot with a rustic luxe look and feel. If you are unsure, order half size up as this boot does run a tad narrow in the toe(I'm usually a 9.5 and the 10 fits like a glove no break in required). I have athletic calves, and as expected the shaft fits snugly,especially at the top. But, the supple leather of this boot will provide just the right amount of give over time. The graphite color is fantastically different, with a bit of a distressed look. I may have to splurge and order the brown ones too!
