I heard a lot of great things about these boots they look great I got them home and there is a hard spot on the inside area of the arch of my foot I thought they would break in I wore them on a couple hikes and they never did my feet literally bruised from wearing these foolishly I waited too late to be able to take them back and although only used on three or four hikes The toe ends came apart . A lot of money down the drain

Have average size 10.5's, these ran long and narrow, back they go.

I'm going to focus on how amazing these boots are for someone with Hallux Rigidus (stiff, arthritic big toe joint). If you need a boot that does all the bending for you, look no further. They are comfy and supportive and they allow for miles of completely pain-free walking. I wish I could wear them everyday. I have custom orthotics on order to the tune of $350 so that my everyday shoes can hopefully be as user-friendly as these are right out of the box. They are soooo worth the money.

I know that most people would think that the price for these Tofanes is a bit steep, but the old adage is so true. You do get what you pay for. I am not a hard core hiker, but I do live in a place where it’s cold and snowy most of the year. Now I can’t wait for winter, but it’s only June. I just wanted a beautiful pair of boots. I know that these boots will last for years. I’m a real fan of quality, and these are it. Low cost boots just need to be replaced every couple of years. Having to replace a low quality gear frequently will ultimately cost you more in the long run. When I put these bad boys on, they immediately enveloped my feet in amazing comfort. I have worn Merrells for years. My new Zambies make the Merrells seem like Walmart specials. These Zamberlans are my first pair, and won’t be my last. I have been wanting these Tofanes for a while, I was considering the Vioz, I’m really glad I finally pulled the trigger on the superior Tofane. Listen to most of the reviews for these amazing Italian works of true perfection. Take your boots to a new level, buy them. You really will be glad you did.

These are amazingly boots! If I did any serious hiking I would have kept them, but the bottom is way to rugged for my daily sidewalk/dirt path walking. Wish they made a more casual version.

I wear an 11 to 11.5 in US sizes depending on the type and brand of shoe. Typically an 11 in lighter shoes and an 11.5 to accommodate heavy socks in serious hiking boot. I used the size charts on Zamberlan's website for this specific last design, rounding up slightly on my measurements and came in at size 10, which fit perfectly.

I put off buying new boots for far too long. I wore my previous pair until the soles started to fall off (were re-glued and then fell off!). This is to indicate that I was fearful about having to break in new boots. I put these on and was amazed at how excellent the fit was. Just enough room in the toe box, great support at the arch, and sung at the ankle without rubbing. Perfect all-around daily hikers that can be properly re-soled, so you’ll be enjoying these for a long, long time. An investment in the consistent comfort of your feet.

Don’t waste your time on other, lesser shoes. Buy these Zamberlan Hike Lites and enjoy all day/night comfort and great quality.

These are not the Zamberlans that I knew years ago. These are for long narrow feet. I have a pair of Zamberlans from 20 years ago that still fit great. This company has changed their quality and sizing of footwear. If you have a normal to large foot box or wide feet do not buy this boot.

Awesome boots! Zamberlan has the absolute best fit, finish and functionality of any boot out there for my money. These are no exception. Perfect light hiker. Fit like a glove, though the lasts on their boots all seem to be different, which can be frustrating. All of the shoes/boots in my closet are size 10, but I wear a 9 1/2 in these, and varying sizes in some of their other boots. Once you find your size in each last though, the fit and footbed feel is amazing. They have this kind of rocker effect that makes it feel like the boots are walking for you. No hotspots or heel slip. The Vibram sole is solid and grippy with very little torsion/twist. Top notch Italian quality, design, and functionality. I used to wear Vasque Sundowners, but these make those feel cheap by comparison. Once you put these on and find your fit you'll never go back. One complaint...the laces are so long as to be almost comical. Can't figure that one out. Otherwise an amazing, top notch boot.

Top notch Italian style, quality and craftsmanship (although this particular model is made/assembled in Romania). These light hikers are awesome! The Vibram sole is epic and substantial, feels really steady and grippy. They have this sort of rocker effect where it kind of feels like they're walking for you. I'm a devoted Zamberlan fan, all of their boots are amazing. My one complaint are their lasts...the fits are amazing...but they all seem to be different sizes so you will inevitably be sending them back for exchanges. This particular last runs a full size larger. I have 20 pairs of shoes/boots in my closet and they're all size 10. I wear a 9 in these. For the Vioz 996 I'm a 9 1/2. Go figure. Overall though, once you find your fit, you're not going to find a better built, more functional, or more stylish boot/hiker. As soon as you put them on you can't go back.

These boots remind me if the “Original” Vasque boots before they out-sourced their manufacturing to china. Zamberlan has a great product ! I could immediately feel the fine quality of these Boots as soon as I laid my hands on them. The boots fit great and wear very well for a rigid terrain boot. I like the sole pattern and I can feel the traction it gives when you need it. I will be putting these shoes through the ringer in the near future and expect they will perform well. I will be revisiting the review section at the end of summer to give an update.

I believe I ordered a half size too big. For decades, I didn't know I had a wide foot. You can imagine the first time I slipped on a EE. For many more years, I thought I wore a size larger than I actually did. The two resulted in many years of ill-fitting shoes. Only recently have I discovered my true size. (Yeah, I probably need some kind of therapy regarding "size". I'll look into it.) On to the shoes... Many years ago, I went into an Air Force boot store on base in Germany. I tried on and bought a pair of extremely hard-shelled mountain boots. Took me forever to break in, but once I did, I seldom wore anything else. I actually wore through the Vibram sole after some ten or so years. Probably still be wearing them had the cobbler replaced the soles correctly. I've searched for 30 years for another pair of boots like those. Glance through my closet and you'll see. I wish I had known the maker of those boots! Along comes Zamberlan. Are they the same? I don't know. Time, beer and other things have dulled the memory but never the desire. Soon as I tried these on, I knew they were the real thing. And too big. But another week and another pair - ohhh. Wonderful! They are not cheap. Neither were those first pair. They won't be easy to break in. That just means I'll still be wearing them when I'm 64. Sinfully perfect.

It is late February and I plan on wearing these shoes in......so to speak.......in order to use them as an alternative to hiking boots this summer in the Swiss Mountains. We will just be doing day hikes with light backpacks ranging from 2-12 miles of hiking per day. Therefore I can only write about the fit and current feel of the shoes: I am normally either a 10.5 or 11 size shoe depending on the brand and shoe type. I purchased a 10.5 in the Zamberlin Hike Lite RR's and they were too big. I even pulled the laces tight (way to tight and narrow) and they were simply too big. I returned them and purchased a 10 and the 10's fit perfect and snug without needing to tighten the laces really that much at all. So we are talking 1/2 to 1 size smaller. I have NO other shoes in my closet that are a 10 (and I have about 15 pairs of different types of shoes) so these truly run just a bit larger. So far I have walked 3 miles and 8 miles and both distances felt real comfortable and the shoe's sole and support is nice. I am planning on bringing a lightweight but very effective ankle bracelet with me on my summer hikes because I did break my ankle last summer (freak accident on a swing) and am looking for good stability. I have ready articles that say it might be better to choose a lighter and nice trail shoe and an ankle bracelet versus hiking boots so we shall see. My luggage weight and room will be happy for sure.

As these shoes are full leather, it has taken a couple of weeks to break them in. Now, they are very comfortable to wear and I am glad I made the purchase. My last two pairs of hiking shoes, which I wear daily for my work in and out of warehouses, on solar PV jobs and office work were Merrill’s and I usually get a wide. These were wider than most other shoes as a standard width and have fit well. There is not as much cushion in the sole like the Merrill’s and are quite hard- I first thought this might be a problem, but they have been fantastic and now a couple of weeks in I don’t notice the difference at all. The vibram soles seem to be softer than the ones on the Merrill’s and am curious to see how long they wear.

These are way too heavy.

I have not hiked in these yet. Just wearing them around the house for now. I love Zamberlan boots. I bought my first pair of Zamberlan's 20 years ago and I still have them today! My feet are wide and these seem wide enough for me. Very soft and I feel like there is going to be a very short, if any, break in time. I thought I read that they come with two pair of laces but mine only had the red ones. It's fine--I don't think I would have used the white ones with these boots.

Don’t mess around with other boots. Just buy these and never look back. Your feet will thank you.
Zappos Reviewer on January 30, 2019
I just could never break them in. I actually left them behind in Israel. They would hurt after a few hours of wearing. My feet just never settled into them. They were attractive and had great traction but just couldn’t wear them too long so I left them for the hotel cleaning crew!

Really excellent boots; great for stomping around in mud and rain. The inner sole is hard but comfortable. Regular shoe size leaves enough room for thick socks. Construction feels durable except for the laces, which have those standard plastic aglets at the ends that always fall apart. Still highly recommended!

The Zamberlan Hike Lite is the best pair of shoes I have ever owned for daily activity. The shoes fit well, are very comfortable, and the materials and workmanship are top-notch. Also, they easily accommodate my orthotic. The large number of lacing holes enables you to create the right amount of snugness along your entire foot. I'm not a shoe fanatic, I just look for something practical. My wife, on the other hand, IS a shoe aficionado, and these shoes are stylish enough to make her happy. It's a win-win. I will likely buy another pair when these wear out. The only issue I had is it was difficult to find replacement laces when the original ones wore out.

First pair lasted five years! Excellent quality hope they make this boot forever.

Well made and the most comfortable shoes I've tried on in a long time. Worth taking a look at. PS you cannot beat the customer service from Zappos.

This is a very old school leather hiking boot still made in Italy, which is what I wanted. It fits well, has a nice Vibram rocker style sole, and will be fine on medium-length hikes (not enough ankle support for a long day with a heavy pack but that's not what it's for). It also looks great with jeans and a sweater. I've only had them a few days so I can't report on any real hikes but the comfort is good so far and these appear to be well made boots.
