Purchase these boots if you have narrow feet - also true to size. The heel cup "grips" like no other pair of boots I've had. I tried on 10 different pairs from multiple high-end manufacturers. The boa system is a game changer.

Amazing. Tough, sturdy, grip like crazy and amazingly comfortable. Expensive? Not compared to the number of cheaper boots you’ll buy before these wear out!

They look good, but run small in volume and size.

Ugh, so close. Never owned a pair of Zamberlan, so I thought I would get these to ease myself into the brand. From the price point, these seem to be the entry-level of Zamberlan's range. The core of the boot is fantastic, and I wanted to love these SO MUCH. I thought I had scored a great pair (from many accounts, the absolute BEST pair) of boots at a terrific price. However, the devil in the details is what scuttles this boot; for me at least. The fit of the boot was great (once I figured out the correct size) and thanks to the Italians, they look incredible. However, where this boot fails is on the eyelets. Compare the Brenva Lite with any other Zamberlan boots, and you will quickly find that while seemingly every other Zam hiking style uses D-rings or hooks throughout, the Brenva uses webbed eyelets for the first four and hooks only at the very top, around the ankle. Webbed eyelets are more prone to ripping than D-rings or hooks, so I avoid them, but you may not take issue with them. Considering the price point, I was willing to live with it. However (and crucially), Zamberlan took away the hooked eyelet in between the metatarsal eyelets (the ones that run over the top of the foot) and the ankle hooks. This causes the boot to poke out right at the point where that eyelet would be, making for an...loose and awkward fit (at least in my experience). As much as I wanted to love this boot, I would rather fork over the extra $70 and just go all in for a proper pair of Zamberlans. Now, I will say to you, dear reader, this may NOT be a dealbreaker for you, as I am sure your foot and ankle is different than mine. Set aside the issue of the webbed eyelets and the one missing below the ankle, and this is an incredible boot otherwise. The boot is built with quality construction and quality materials. They are extremely lightweight and more, they can be resoled! So, taken care of properly, they would probably outlive you. I certainly recommend giving them a go, because if your feet and ankle can live with the missing hook, these are a win, especially if you can find them on sale. However, sadly for me, they have to go back.

Fit was spot on and no hot spots. Relatively short break-in period. I was looking to replace a pair from another manufacturer whose sole had delaminated after a few years (A...o). These are every bit as comfortable and more ankle support due to height of the boot. Only had them for a month, but a definite move up in my book. Waterproofing is effective, but still breathable.

These are beautiful hiking boots, I gave them 4 stars because although they are beautiful they are pretty heavy :(

Really nice boots, but too restrictive and narrow in the toe box.

Good hiking shoe. We’ll made. Only slight negative is that feet seem to get a little hot compared with similar brands

I have looked a long time for a comfortable pair of hiking shoes. These are very comfortable and sturdy with good arch support. They were quick to break in and though I have yet to try them on a hike, I think they will do well. Love the BOA, makes them quick on and quick off. They do run a full half size longer, so I went with a 7 instead of my normal 7.5.
Zappos Reviewer on August 11, 2021
There was no break-in time; they felt comfortable right out of the box after I exchanged them for a half size larger. I always wear a size 8, so it was disappointing that I had to get a half size larger. I have very high arches and have a hard time finding shoes and boots that will fit, but I commented to someone that they felt like slippers compared to what I was expecting.

Let me first start off by saying that you get what you pay for. I’ve tried on 8 pairs of hiking boots from Zappos and another retailer. These were number 7 and they fit like a glove, not too bulky, tons of ankle support, I didn’t feel restrained and stifled in them, cushiony footbed, tons of toe box room, gorgeous design, traditional red hiking boot laces. So cute and so comfy and not too warm. PERFECTION. I am an 8.5/39 in shoes, 9 in sneakers/winter boots. Their 41/9 fit perfectly. Their Italian sizing translation is way odd though… a 9 is typically a 39.5, an 8.5 is typically a 39… here is comparison between them and Oboz Bridger. anyway these are definitely worth it.

For me, this shoe runs at least one size too large. Being a long time wearer of a Zamberlan Italian hiking boot, I was disappointed to discover this shoe isn't made in Italy, of Zamberlan's self described "artisan craftsmanship". The description says "imported" so if you know the brand, and for the price tag, you might think like I did, that I was buying an authentic Zamberlan shoe. I am not returning the shoe because it will serve the purpose that I bought it for and I am out of time to keep searching. If the shoe was $100 less, more equivalent to other shoes fabricated in its country of origin, I would give it a 5 star because it seems like it will be a nice walking boot.

Comfortable from the second I put them on. True to size. Can still wear heavy socks. Definitely on the heavier bulky side but they’re for backpacking & are supposed to be. Love em so far. Green color is perfect.

Beautiful boots! Definitely a camel color - a little lighter than expected from the catalog photo. Once they are treated with Zamberlan’s HydroBloc they will darken. Right out of the box my feet feel comfortable in the boots. Normal stiffness of a leather boot. Can’t wait to wear!

Havent taken it out on trail but feels comfortable and lightweight yet sturdy. The boa lacing design seems like a nice add for speed and convenience, but I wonder how long the system will last. Can't wait to take these out on a hike and put them to the test. Overall a good looking hiking shoe that doesn't scream nerd tech shoe, and can be used in an urban setting when off trail. I'd go with the european sizing that best fits you--using my typical street US size (10.5) my shoes were a half size too large. Selecting the European size (44.5 which is 10 US) I hope the fit is right.

The fit just didn’t work for me-too narrow. Definitely a stiff boot that looks like it would be great for daily use just not for me.
Zappos Reviewer on June 17, 2021
These fit me perfectly and are good for 3-5 hour hikes in many types of terrain. The ankle is supported and its pretty hard to roll even with rapid descents (though I'm carrying under 10 pounds of gear). The top is a bit lower than many hiking boots which makes it easier to go up and down very steep hills due to the reduced achilles pressure. A trade off here is that you need low gaiters if there is a lot of gravel that gets into the boot..but this isn't really a problem in my experience. The really cool selling factor here is that there is plastic structure within the sole that feels like its helping you to move forward. If you are standing still its not obvious nor is balance affected. However once underway each step is slightly easier to initiate than with any other brand I've used. This makes a difference after the first hour or so. This structure needs about 40 miles to break in and may feel a bit rigid at first. The waterproofing works well and the laces are very nice and stay tied. There are no protrusions on the medial parts of the ankle area which means a lot less tripping than other more complicated lacing systems. I wish the company still made this model in non GTX for hot weather use.

I wear size 12 and have medium to slightly narrow feet. Size 12 fit me me perfectly. I have worn these 4 days in a row and have about 15 miles total in them. So far I'm very impressed with the quality and their performance on trails and rocky roads. They are still not broken in but they feel excellent around my foot and provide excellent support. They are still stiff around my ankles but are getting more flexible and are not uncomfortable after a few minutes of walking. No regrets so far.

Perfect hiking boots and very stylish.

I have a low volume foot but I need width for my toes. This boot has a little more width in the toe area compared to other brands. I use an additional insole which makes the boot fit nice & snug around my skinny ankle. Great ankle support! I like the flat sole better than their other model that has the higher heel. This is my 3rd pair over the last 15 years. Really a good quality boot.

Finally a pair of leather backpacking boots that fit my wide feet and custom orthotic insoles. I have short 6.5 feet that are also EE or wider and I have custom orthotics. Merrill boots even in wide do not accommodate my feet. I've struggled for years to make Merrill and other brands work and thought I would have to order handmade hiking boots. Hooray for Zamberlan! As you can see I did have to go up 2 full sizes for the perfect fit.

This is my second pair of Zamberlan Vioz GT hiking boots. These are my go to hiking boots for total support, comfort and durability. I use them for day hikes as well as 2 to 3 week backpacking (as my only footwear). They work well with a medium weight wool hiking sock. I keep them well greased and when worn with waterproof gaiters my feet stay dry for shallow stream crossings and muddy trails. I'm starting to wear out my first pair. I've been concerned that I might not be able to replace them so I went ahead and ordered the second pair.

"ZAPPOS" does not know what it is talking about concerning shoe size. A 45 EU is not a 10-10.5 US. A 45 EU is a 11.5 US sizing. The entire size chart is wrong. Also a perfect fit is needed with these boots because of the break forward step sole. If the boot is to big, you will roll and fall forward. Why rubber instead of PU midsole? Is it more dampening than PU? An EVA midsole would break down like a sneaker.

I am so thankful I discovered ZAMBERLAN Trail Lite EVO GTX on Zappos, while reading online reviews during Covid. I upgraded my worn-out boots--Salomon, made in China--to Zamberlan--HAND CRAFTED IN ITALY. Wow, what a difference! I only wish I had discovered these before I hiked Mt Blanc (2018) and Camino de Santiago (2019). The comfort and support are beyond amazing. And the quality is EXCELLENT. Even my walking performance has improved. I am forever sold on Zamberlan. These boots are the ABSOLUTE BEST. Highly recommended! Your feet will thank you every step of the way.

I’m writing this review so that you know you will probably receive boots that do not look as pictured. I was surprised to find that the boots had red laces, not white. And they do NOT come with “two pairs” of laces, as described. They come with one: red. Zappos is normally great with customer service. I ordered a purse that was different from the photo and they refunded me for it, without asking for it back! I still returned it, but it was super nice of them to offer. With this purchase, I did not have a similarly good experience. I emailed to ask for white laces to be mailed to me, and they just went ahead and unilaterally started a return, without asking, which was irritating. I know how to do a return and would have started one, myself, if that’s what I’d wanted! I like to have UPS pickup, but now there’s a non-pickup return label on the account, so they pretty much destroyed my chance of returning, with pick up, if I ultimately decide not to keep them. I probably won’t bother exchanging, since it turns out other reviewers have had a similar experience (receiving boots with red laces, only). And I don’t want to go through re-ordering, just to get another pair with red laces. So that’s the other reason I’m reviewing: know that you probably don’t have an option for white laces, if you received red. I had to order a pair directly from Zamberlan ($12!), so I’ll see how that works out and whether I want to keep them, once I receive the new laces. As far as fit, I’m a 7-7.5, and ordered a 7, and they seem true to size. No rubbing, but I’ve only worn them around the house. Cute, not the sleekest, but not too bulky. The color is a good choice for summer. I also like that they don’t have the annoying “Vibram” label on the toe. It’s still there, but slightly less conspicuous, on the side.
