My kids have worn Tsukihoshi's "Mako" style for a couple years now. It's time for new shoes and my 8 year old wanted to try this style instead. Ended up having to size down because the "Ignite" 2.5 is about the same as the "Mako" size 3. The problem is that even though the shoe seems to fit well (toes are in the right place, heel all the way back, strap tightened down), the heel doesn't stay put. It slides off when he walks. The overall quality doesn't seem as good as the Mako style, either. Unfortunate, because he really liked the way this one looks!

I absolutely love these shoes. I'd been through a couple disappointing pairs of stride rite shoes for my two year old, one of which the finish wore off the toe in ONE wear, and the other which was so mis-sized that I had to give them away new because they fit about a full size smaller than marked. When I first opened this box I felt a little unsure about how they would hold up, but the materials are MUCH tougher than they initially appear, they're washable and durable, and held up extremely well. All without a raised heel and wonderfully flexible sole. Can't say enough good things about these shoes, and just bought another pair from this company now that her foot has grown.

These shoes are great! They work for wide and narrow feet alike. They're sporty, easy for my 2 year old to get on, and hold up. These are our 2nd pair of the same style.

My daughter has been wearing Tsukihoshi shoes for years. I love this brand - they've always been easy for my daughter to put on by herself (even when she was 2 and 3 years old). She says they're very comfortable and are the only shoes she chooses to wear to school. I love them because they're washable and look nearly new after each wash. This Rainbow style was super cute and we'd always get compliments. This particular style did seem to be more narrow than the other Tsukihoshi styles we've had in the past. They're not as narrow as other shoes, they're just more narrow than other Tsukihoshi shoes...not a problem, my daughter just wore thinner socks.

These are the only shoes my 7 year old will wear. For the past 3 years, we just keep buying the next size up. They seem to provide all the comfort, support, & traction needed for running, jumping, biking, & climbing trees.

Absolutely love this sneaker for my daughter. She has a small foot and finding half sizes is difficult. We ordered a 4.5 and it’s exactly what she needed. I love how flexible and lightweight they are, perfect for her to move around easily! Highly recommend!!!

I ordered my son the big kids size 6. Size 6 is a little small for him in New Balance, but the recommendation of other reviewers was to go down a size. The size 6 was much too big. I tried it on for comparison. I wear a women’s 8 and it was too big for me. My boy wore this brand when he was a tot and they are great shoes. This particular pair was lightweight and bright—seemed like a perfect summer shoe. But with the sizing so far from what we expected, we ended up exchanging them for an entirely different brand.

I have bought several pairs of Tsukihoshi shoes over the years, and I have always found them to fit at least a half size short (width seems fine, though definitely not overly wide). I don’t know why the brand suggests sizing down. My biggest concern with this shoe is that it leaves deep grooves in my toddler son’s toes! I felt inside the shoe and there is a very pronounced seam around the tongue that seems to press into his little feet. He’s too young to communicate if it’s painful, but it’s the first pair of shoes to leave marks on any of my children like that. These shoes are stylish and look to be well made, but I wouldn’t recommend these shoes for the above reasons. Comfort comes first when shoe shopping for kids, and these just don’t cut it. I wish I’d noticed before my kid had worn them in the backyard, or they’d be going back, pronto.

They’re big, but great. We are just now, halfway through first grade, buying a replacement pair for the shoes we got my son towards the beginning of kindergarten. Didn’t realize how big they were on him then, but he has certainly gotten tons of air out of them.

Great shoe, but do your research and order based on your child’s European sizing, not by US sizes and save yourself the hassle of exchange. I can’t even say go size smaller or larger, but base it on your child’s euro sizes In keeping with Japanese super thoughtful design choices - the tongue of the shoe is attached to one side which make great ease of use. It quite ample almost wide in width. Great shoe!

When this shoe arrived, I really liked it. I thought it was a sturdy, well-made shoe. My 2.5 yo daughter seemed to gravitate toward them when picking out her shoes so I assumed they were comfortable. I was thoroughly disappointed, however, when the tab completed came off at the seams literally after being worn only 5x. As expensive as these are, I cannot believe they have come apart. I was so hopeful to have found a great shoe brand for my kids. Maybe this was just a bad apple, but they are too expensive for me to keep trying only to find out I'm wrong.

I bought two pair of these for my nine year old son (red/gray and graphite). He will only wear tennis shoes that have something to keep the tongue in place. These fit the bill because the tongue is attached to one side. I used to buy Saucony because there is a piece of Velcro on the tongue that attaches to the Velcro tab to keep the tongue in place. Saucony brand is a little cheaper but they fall apart quickly. This brand is well made. My son can wear them until he outgrows them, then we donate.

I bought these for my nine year old son who is picky about shoes. He likes these because the tongue is attached to one side of the shoe, thus keeping the tongue in place. He wears this brand exclusively. He used to wear Saucony but they fell apart in less than a month. Every pair of Tsukihoshis he's owned still looked good when he outgrew them.

Love these for my active 1.5 year old! He has really smelly feet, but these shoes are the best I've found at keeping odor under control. Easy to get on and off. Plus they are machine washable, and after washing, they look brand new.

My little guy loves his new shoes. He is 18 months old, and these are his first “big boy” shoes. They are sturdy enough for him to wear anywhere but still flexible enough for him to toddle around without stumbling. They run about half a size large, but I was aware of this because I’ve ordered Tsukihoshi shoes for my older children in the past.

My son loves these shoes. We recently sized up in another color to replace the prior pair. These run about half size large and wide, which is perfect for us because he usually needs a wide shoe and can wear regular width in these. Easy to put on - I appreciate that the tongue is attached on one side which makes it easy for a preschooler to put on.

I bought these for my grandson. We were looking at all styles and colors and when he saw these, he said, "Nana, please order these right now." He waited for the UPS and sent me a video with him running so fast in his new shoes. Love the fit, the color and as he says, how fast they can run!

My 4yo son has enormous, wide, water ski feet. Tsukihoshi is the only brand that runs big enough that I don’t have to order special widths. He doesn’t trip over them and the inside is soft and has some give—as opposed to other athletic brands that have a stiff insole that bothered his heels. He loves them and they’ve held up well considering he’s a kid who is notoriously hard on shoes. 11/10. Highly recommend.
