Timbuk2

Timbuk2 Logo
Timbuk2 was founded in 1989 by a bike messenger who taught himself to sew. In his San Francisco garage, Rob Honeycutt pioneered custom manufacturing and in doing so, created Timbuk2's icon, the Classic Messenger Bag. Timbuk2 is an industry leader in sustainable urban manufacturing, continuing its legacy of manufacturing in the Mission District of San Francisco, since day one. Through the years, Timbuk2 has grown to include innovative laptop backpacks and briefcases, totes, luggage and accessories, all backed by a lifetime warranty, and all designed to help you outsmart the challenges of your urban life.

As one of the leading brands in urban lifestyle bags, Timbuk2 shines on. Tried and true fabric defines their largest collection of styles. In addition, you won’t find any environmentally harmful polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in their bags. Timbuk2 takes pride in their PVC-free liners, which are just as durable and waterproof as vinyl but more supple. Best of all, these liners are better for the environment, which makes everybody happy.

Great, innovative design is part of the driving force behind Timbuk2. Developing and designing durable, multifunctional bags for today’s brave commuters is what they do best. From their authentic working class roots in the bicycle messenger subculture, to their remarkable transformation into a hip, urban fashion accessory, Timbuk2 is a brand with authenticity, heritage and a loyal following.

In 2014, Timbuk2 committed to putting zero bags in landfills. This promise is supported with a program to repair, donate or upcycle used bags. It's for all this, and more that Timbuk2 has a loyal following, worldwide.

The pack was not very deep. It may work if you have a notebook and a few files and maybe a laptop. Definitely not deep enough to fir standard school stuff. There are also no compartments for pens/pencils etc. A rare miss for Timbuk2.

I've had this computer pack for about 3 years now. It looks brand new, has protected my XPS 15 perfectly and fits all my cables and accessories. It is comfortable to wear and doesn't look too big on my small frame (I'm 5'5", 115lbs). It doesn't have a lot of room to expand so don't plan on putting gym clothes and a lot of papers in the thing but it also looks sleek and professional and not overly stuffed and sticking out so the trade-off is fine. I would love a bag that held everything but then I probably wouldn't be able to lift it. If you want an excellent quality, professional looking, highly functional computer commuter backpack, you can't go wrong with this one.

Love Zappos Love Timbuk2 The bag is great and just what I needed (lightweight, strong adjustable strap, nylon, perfect number of compartments) The only thing I don’t love is that the logo label on the outside face of the bag is white and it isn’t depicted that way. It’s going to get dirty when I wear it to the dog park and if I’d known I may have passed on it. But for the price it’s worth keeping for back up but I won’t be wearing it every day as I had intended because that white bit will get filthy.

I have owned many Timbuk2 products over the last decade. And when I say many I mean well over 20 bags and visited their stores in SF, NYC, and Chicago. Suffice to say I am a fan. This bag is unbeatable. This is genuinely my forever bag now. It's been a solid three years with it and there is not a circumstance where it has not been amazing. If it rips or degrades (doubtful) then I will either get it fixed or replaced with the same exact bag. I may buy a second one to store away just in case this one has an issue in 10 or 20 years.

Just has the right look. Functionality of an REI store brand without the 60 y.o. vibe. I like the buckle being asymmetrical it puts it a little out of the way for sneaker thieves. Compared to the also 2 liter Slacker, this is boxier but has an exterior phone slot in case a small water bottle in the main pops a leak.

I really wanted to love this backpack. I'm headed back to grad school this fall, and I was looking for something durable and professional looking, with plenty of organizational pockets. The Authority delivers on all of this, but it sadly feels too big for my frame I'm 5'6" and short-waisted, and this pack just felt too long for me. I'm returning it and will have to keep looking...

After only about a year this bag started flaking plastic off of it. As you can see in the photos I've had to duct tape part of the bag to stop anymore plastic from flaking. Timbuk2 -- why on Earth would you use such a awful material? Really appalled by the ecological implications here -- how much plastic is flaking off into our trails, waterways, and environment so you can save a couple of bucks? This sort of thing should really be illegal. Loved the bag until it completely started falling apart after, again, less than a year.

I use this bag pretty much everyday for work. I carry my lunch, t-shirts for work (where are laptop would normally go), usually a book, and some other accessories. Okay, so after buying and returning about five backpacks, I settled on this one. It does the best job, but could use a bit of improvement. First, what I like more than anything is the bag will stand up on its own almost all the time. At lunch, it's nice to have the bag next to me, standing, so I take stuff out and put stuff in without a hassle. Here's what I would change. 1) Make the bottom front to back depth (now 6.3") about 6.8 or 7 inches. That little extra space will allow for a sandwich sized bento type box to fit flat on the bottom of the bag without have to truly stuff it down there. It drives me nuts that the couple of lunch containers I have are just about a " too big. They fit, but not without an effort. 2) The zippered pocket on the front. Can we add just a little more room to this? A thin glasses case and keys just barely fit..they too need to be stuffed in. 3) The front organization portion should have a zipper that lets the front swing completely open, not just half way. Getting into the zippered mesh pocket in there is not easy. 4) If possible, move the water bottle holder just a bit further back. Putting a 20oz HydroFlask in there is the one thing that can make the bag fall over. I think moving it back a bit would give the bag better balance. Overall, a great bag, but like pretty much everything out there, just a bit away from being the perfect backpack. (PS- I miss your stores in NYC!)

I was gifted some beautiful Timbuk2 backpacks and messenger bags several years ago with great geometric and floral designs on them. So fun! So many compliments! Both were waterproof on the inside and the lining is cracking/wearing away, so I am looking for more bags. Pretty disappointed by the lack of colors in both the normal and the customized bags. Hoping more bright/cheery/electric colors come out soon!

I am absolutely obsessed with my Copilot. I am a flight attendant so I spend half of my life on an airplane and navigating airports. I have had my Copilot for almost 3 years now and I cannot recommend it enough. She has passed the test of thousands of hours of travel, and honestly still looks fantastic. I have had to replace the wheels a couple times now, understandably, but with Timbuk2's lifetime warranty, it was such a breeze. Anytime someone asks me for a luggage recommendation, I always send them to Timbuk2. My boyfriend is a new airline pilot and after seeing my bag, he swapped his bag from a well known brand designed by flight crew to a Timbuk2 Copilot! We both absolutely love them! I have the small size and it fits on every airplane that allows carryon suitcases with no issues at all! The amount of stuff I am able to fit in it is unreal, and I love that the handle is external, so it protects the woven back from being slid across the bins or the floor. The smooth front is easy to clean if it gets dirty, which is a huge plus! I absolutely love that you can access the front of the bag through the front zipper flap. It makes grabbing things like a jacket such a breeze! Also, I am 5'9 (5'10 with shoes) and I never have any issues with the handle being too short or my feet hitting the bag as I walk. My boyfriend is 6'0 (6'1 with shoes) and he doesn't either, so it's taller people friendly!

Um, ok so the tininess of this bag is so adorable. I love that it has the comfort, sportiness, and durability of a fanny pack without actually being one. Excited I was able to snag the Bred color when it came back in stock! The bright orange, khaki, and black colors are a fun, unique combo. Great for lighter carry days or days I don't want to ruin one of my nicer purses. This little guy fits all my essentials perfectly: my wallet, a coin pouch, keys, sunglasses, medication, and even my phone with a bulky case (if I'm organized about it).

I've been using this bag for a little over two years and and it's been wonderful. Initially, I wasn't sure about this bag since I'm only 5' 2" but it's been fine. The plethora of pockets inside the main compartment and the smaller compartment are a dream for organization! I can keep my laptop chargers and electronic cords organized in the compartments. Pens, parking cards, medicine, snacks, feminine products, and what have you! The outer pocket is great for when I'm flying and need to store tickets, passports, or easy to access items. I also use this for weekend trips, as it has ample room and expandable future. I can fit sneakers and 2-3 days worth of clothes in here along with my laptop, toiletries, and make-up. The only thing I wish it had is a dedicated luggage pass-through.

For years I traveled internationally and it was my regular carry-on. I use it endlessly for local bicycling and even longer trips. AND,,,,,it is the best beach bag ever!
