Overall a good bag. Just took it for two weeks through Europe as my backpack. Materials are great and the look and finish are really good. Comfortable even packed out. Here's the drawback - the zippers don't fully zip down the sides of the bag, maybe to the 3/4 mark. So, when you're fully packed it's tough to get to the stuff way at the bottom without unloading. I appreciate the ample water bottle storage on either side. Again, those pockets got tight when really packed out. I was able to fit h20 collapsible bottle, ipad, plane head pillow, another pack-able day pack, all my chargers and cables, headphones, pills, face wipes, snacks, and my wife's rain jacket, and my stuff able rain jacket, and the small point and shoot camera we have. It was loaded up, but did the job. In the future, I might opt for a different style of opening bag for 2 week in EU as we were in and out of the bags often and constantly repacking from hotel to hotel. But, for a quick overnight or couple days - I think I could make this work with a packing cube for my single bag travel. I'm a minimalist and love that option. So, if you're not trying to get in and out of this thing all the time - its a win.

This is a great daily carry backpack for work and commute. The main difference between this pack and others I've seen is that access to the laptop is super easy and quick and it is just the right size for me where I can fit all the usual work stuff but also spare shorts/shirts/etc for a quick workout but the pack still isn't too big and it looks super sharp to me. Backpack size is kind of personal but I've tried a few close to this volume and a lot weren't laid out as well as this. It has really easy access to the laptop and some easy pockets in the back in a nicely padded area. It has a large soft lined pocket on top of the flap that is good for glasses or headphones. There is a decent amount of room in main area as well that is split between top loading and the wet/soiled compartment below. Fabric is surprisingly soft and pleasant to the touch and seems water resistant although I probably wouldn't plan to take a long walk or bike in the rain with it. All the zippers are high quality. I'm on the fence about the clips as they aren't what I'm used to but seem to hold well enough. Overall I would recommend for sure!

Excellent fit for my tallish (6'8") frame. Very comfortable and easy to adjust. Removable sack is also nice. This thing is a real whip piston!

This is a really nice backpack. It is comfortable to wear and it feels very well made. The bag has many different compartments to keep all of your things organized. The only thing that I don't like about this backpack is that there are no external pockets on the front; you have to go into the main compartments to access everything. I am a graduate student and am mostly using this backpack for work, but I think it would also be great for travel.

Beautiful backpack. Very comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. Handles on both top, bottom, and 1 side makes it easy to move around. Side access to laptop is very convenient. Highly recommended.

Very nice backpack, very stylish and feels extremely well-made. Comfortable to wear. Lots of handles. Lacks a convenient small pocket for wallet, phone, etc. The roll-top is neat and the first I've owned, but realized I didn't really need it. The 30L has all the same qualities, but is also the same downfall of missing a really convenient small pocket.

I've been hunting for a backpack for a while now, mostly for traveling and I was actually introduced to this brand by my husband. Love the quality, feels like it'll last for years. I bought this size and the 30L subterra to compare and the 30L was more suited to what I wanted it for. This bag would be good for a daily commute, but a tad bit too small for me for my needs.

After ordering and returning a couple of other packs, I finally settled on this one--what one review described as "the perfect business travel backpack." And that review was right. I used this backpack while traveling to a weeklong conference, and used this to carry all my tech and personal items while traveling and while at the conference. It's roomy enough for even my "airline essentials," which include bulky headphones, charging cables, and my Nintendo Switch. At the same time, it's compact enough to navigate easily through terminals and tuck under the seat in front of you--even leaving some extra foot space. On top of all of this, it is comfortable enough for all-day wear. My single-favorite feature is the large, hard-sided sunglasses/electronics area on top, which keeps these from getting crushed, and the feature that i liked most unexpectedly was the side water-bottle pocket, which is secure without looking like it belongs on a trail pack.

The overall appearance, utility, and build quality of this pack is excellent. The size--as others have noted--is a bit smaller than would be ideal for a pack you plan to use for travel, or even commuting to and from work. If you plan to use this pack for very short trips or to hold your snacks while you bike, however, it might work a bit better for you. One last note--while there is only one color option at the time of the writing of this review--"Monarch"--it is not the same color as the pack in the pictures. The pictured backpack is a light grey, while the pack I received (in "Monarch) was purple. I could have researched to identify exactly what color "Monarch" is, but assumed that the single color option reflected the one in the image.

So I purchased this as a gym/travel bag and it truly has impressed me in the week that I've owned it. The compression straps on the inside are a great addition and allow you to pack even more than you think you'd be able to. I've packed a towel, boots, toiletry kit, sweatshirt and pants, shorts, flip flops, and sneakers. All of this and I still have space left to use! You won't be disappointed, high price for a high quality product! I've spent $400 on a backpack and I always make sure companies have warranties just in case!

Certainly this bag is spacious (caution about your weights when packing; it would be very easy to run over the airline weight limits). The dual compartment can be a help and a hindrance - easier for packing but harder to access deeper items. Unfortunately, the handle broke (in extended position) on first use. Thankfully, my handy husband was able to rig it to work - or it would have been rendered largely unusable. Wheels and fabric seem quite durable. Overall not bad, but I expected higher quality for the price and reputation of Thule.
