My husbands feet usually reject every shoe I have ever bought him. However, he LOVES these. He says they are very comfortable and very warm, also waterproof. I like them because they look really good with jeans, and make him look like he has some style! I recommend these very much.

Heard about this model from The Boot Guy and thought they would be for me. Great leather and great customer service when I went a size too small

Had to order 1/2 size smaller than what normally wear. I wear size 11-1/2 order size 11. No break time needed, leather soo soft it fits like a glove. Awesome black color that could be dressed up or just casual with blue jean. Strongly recommend. All Thorogood Boots are The Best American Made Boots.

They did need to be broken in for about two weeks, but now they are very comfortable and they look great. I work in the office and on construction sites and I can wear them at either location.

3rd time's a charm! I bought these for my husband after reading a ton of reviews. He's typically a 9.5 medium width and I initially ordered a 9D based on reviews here and elsewhere. Unfortunately, they were still way too big. We exchanged for an 8.5D, which ended up being too narrow. In a last ditch effort, we tried the 8.5 EE and they fit perfectly! The sizing for these is kinda wacky, so you may need to try a few before getting the right fit. That said, they're extremely well made and, according to my husband, very comfortable!

These boots are very good looking and very comfortable straight out of the box. No break in period

The fit is great. The leather is awesome. It's soft and loose but seems very thick and strong. The sole is a bit flat and hard, but I planned on putting insoles in them anyhow. I'm on my feet 8 hours a day and my feet aren't throbbing at the end of the day. I gotta say they look great as well.

Great pair of boots but do take some time to break in. I have another pair of Thorogood boots that also needed a break in period. Once broken in they are extremely comfortable. The insoles on these have some moderate cushioning but lack arch support. I swapped out the insoles with a pair of thin (no cushioning) Sole insoles. These boots tend to run at least a half size large. If you tend to wear thick boot socks or swap out for a thicker insole/orthotic then ordering your usual size might be ok. The boots appear lighter in color compared to the pictures here (more like a tan than a light brown). Overall a great boot and made in the USA.

Great working shoe. Excellent quality and craftsmanship.

These are quality made boots of excellent materials. There is a short break-in period (1-2) days. I will say, however, that these boots are in a different category then Red Wing 875s. The Red Wing leather is much stronger and more of a classic boot. But the 875s, like most Red Wing Heritage boots are stiff and require a very extensive break-in period. But Red Wing leather will undoubtedly outlast that of Thorogood. Again, the two boots are in different categories. I have only included mention of the 875s because a lot of guys are torn between which boots to buy. I am in a construction related field and am on my feet and climbing ladders all day. I was not eager to suffer the break in that I know Red Wings require, nor was I willing to pay the extra money to basically destroy a $300 pair of boots. Thorogood is an excellent and more affordable alternative.

I had the same problem as one of the other reviewers. The way they are constructed, the inner stitching/ fold near the big toe pressed painfully into me foot, so they were very painful to wear, even for a short time. Overall, they seemed to be constructed well, but maybe not designed the best. Had to return them.

You need to break them in they are tight when you buy them but are awesome after you were them for a while. Best boot

I have been a Red Wing guy most of my life but I really liked the looks of the Black Moc Toe Thorogood's. Ordered the same size I have in RW 9EE and they fit perfectly! Coming from 875's these have more room and are bulkier so just be aware of that if you're used to a smaller framed boot. These are comfortable from day 1. No break in required. Very pleased with these boots! Zappos shipping is fast as always!

Didn't like the color and the size was much bigger than normal. Also toe had a slight lift to it. Didn't like that either.

I think mine are defective. I bought the Thorogood 6” Soft Moc Toe earlier this year, and I wore them literally a couple of times before injuring my knee (wearing different shoes). At the time, they felt good, if not a little stiff, and they looked great. But because of my injury, I didn’t wear my new boots again until two months ago. When I did, they mostly broke in fairly quickly. Then I started to notice that the right boot was causing a pain on the top of my foot, just aft of the big toe. I thought this was just lingering stiffness. But after several weeks, the pain is still there whenever I wear the boots. I then discovered, upon close inspection, that the seam work on the right boot, where the top moc seam meets the upper side seam, is unlike the left boot. This area has a bad seam overlap that created a sort of knot on the inside that presses down on the top of my foot, even if the boot is loosely tied. It starts to hurt after about an hour or so. This is unfortunate, because I can’t send them back now. Nobody else has had this problem, so mine must be defective. If not for this defect, I think the boots would be very comfortable; the soles and insole provide good support and cushioning, and they look super nice. The leather is very soft. Any suggestions?

Great boot, tough yet stylish

I work in residential remodeling. I support any boot company that chooses to build their product in the U.S. As others before me have said, they aren't the most comfortable out of the box. Few quality work boots are. I conditioned mine and took a walk around the block. After a very short distance, the tight spots began to form to my foot. I love the soft strike of the Max Wedge sole, and it seems to have good grip even in wet conditions. I know these boots will last, and I strongly endorse Thorogood for making a quality, hand-built boot.

Right shoe is a bit wider than the left at the heel. Maybe after beak in they’ll tighten up a bit.

Very comfortable boot. Received some compliments. The natural CXL great with jeans and chinos. Not the best color with slacks or a suit. The cork Nitrite sole is not my favorite. I wore it twice and I had my cobbler add a mini lug sole to them. Not noticeable at all. I wanted better traction even if I’m not using this boot as a work boot. The tongue on the boot is not gusseted like the Dodgeville. A deep puddle and your foot will get wet. Other than that it’s a beautiful boot and I made just a few mods.

No break in period required. Extremely comfortable out of the gate. True to size.

Love these boots, decided to buy American instead of the Georgia Boot model I'd been wearing for years (decades?)! As a furniture builder and frame maker I spend most of my day on the concrete floor in my shop and good boots are a must. These meet all of my requirements. They're also great for the routine yard work my 1/3 acre lot requires. The leather is more supple than the Georgia Boot and they were comfortable right out of the box, no break in needed.

This boot that is made in the USA is not only very stylish, but is also very comfortable to wear right out of the box. The only downside for me is that the soles are very soft (squishy) and while that is good for comfort, it allows my foot to bend too easily. This may not be a problem for most, as I have very flat feet. I'd rather see a bit more rigidity in the soles, which is why I left the Overall rating at a 4.
