Swedish Hasbeens

Swedish Hasbeens Logo
One summer day in 2006, the shoes Anita wore (300 pairs of red, white and black beautiful clogs from the '70s) were found in the basement of an old clog factory in the neighboring village and brought them to Stockholm. The start of Swedish Hasbeens was for all the people that shared a love for Anita's wooden shoes.

Their ambition is to continue to release more incoherent and fun shoes inspired by Hasbeens that once ruled the planet. The Hasbeens shoes are based on original '70s models and are made of natural grain leather, since it's the most beautiful and the highest quality. They are still handmade with respect for people in the old traditional way, and in small factories that have made shoes for decades. Happy shoes make happy people!

I usually wear between an 8.5 and 9 in US sizes and a 39 in European sizes. I ordered a 39 and they fit perfectly. These shoes are very very cute. I love their style. However, they are not the most comfortable. I bought them for work and since I am sitting at a desk most of the day it is fine. But I wouldn't recommend buying these if you have to walk all day.

I was apprehensive about buying a pair of clogs, because I thought the wooden soles would be hard on my feet. Especially since I do ballet. The last thing I want to do is wear a pair of hard shoes after pointe class. But it turns out that they are supper comfortable. The size 6 is perfect. Now I'm ready to buy a new pair in a darker colour. Totally recommend them.

I wanted to love these sandals, but the ball of the foot is too flat. I need more of a rocker type platform. The way they are designed, it pulls on the ankle strap every time you take a step. If the ball was rounded out more, this would not happen.

I really wanted to love these, but ultimately sent them back. The fit and style is perfect. I have a high arch, and even though there isn't much arch support, I still found these sandals to be really comfortable. The fatal flaw, however, is that when I walk it sounds like I have rubber boots on my feet. I have never had a pair of leather sandals squeak at all, much less squeak with every step. It sounds ridiculous. At this price point, I sent them back. If you can get over the sound, they are super cute, but people will hear you coming long before they see you.

Sizing: I ordered two sizes up, like a few reviewers had recommended. However for me, that was one size too far. I'm usually a solid 39, however a 40 fit my natural length of my foot. Style: Gorgeous! The cognac leather was delish and thick. Just couldn't wait to pair it with every free spirit dress or wide leg jean/pant... you get my meaning. Comfort: A BIG FAT ZERO! I ran a few errands (3hours), the next 24 hours, I was in recovery from walking, standing, sitting for those 3 hours. I assumed clogs were the most comfortable shoe on the planet or at least Sweden! I was wrong. Sadly, very wrong.

These fit narrow, which works great for my narrow feet. The ankle strap is very comfortable and the style looks great. These are as comfortable as any wooden clog, which I find great for my plantar fasciitis prone feet.

I have a very narrow, thin foot and I expect that shoes are not going to fit, and these were no exception. The base of the shoe is actually on the narrow side, which is great for me. The strap around the ankle also fit me fine. It's just the upper, the part that goes around the top of the toe/foot area was too wide, so my foot slid forward and a couple of my toes slid out of the shoe. Not a good look or comfortable. However I think if you just have a typical narrow foot rather than extremely thin and narrow, you'd be fine with these. The look of these shoes is very nice and stylish, however I was surprised that the leather quality (tan) looked cheap-- thin and water-stained-looking. I also ordered the Merci sandal (silver) and they looked and fit much better. I recommend that one for narrow feet over this one. Also the silver leather is thicker and looks higher quality.

When I lived in Sweden for a year during college, I wore the wooden clogs and sandals every day. That was MANY years ago. It took me a little while this morning to get used to that unbending platform again - and how loud they are on hard flooring!! But I love them.

LOVE these. I get many compliments on them as well. I wear a 9-9.5 and the 40 fits perfect. The leather is quite hard and they do require some breaking in. Once broken in they are very comfortable and keep feet cool, never sweaty. A note on the light tan color: they start to develop patina quickly from to outside elements (and the occasional coffee slosh, mud puddle, etc). The patina looks very nice and weathered, but if you want a shoe that will maintain a pristine even light tone, this isn’t the color for you.

The shoe that arrived didn't match the picture. The peep toe was much wider. Not sure if this is a manufacturing error but the wideness of these makes them look like old lady orthopedic shoes. Also, the leather of on of the shoes arrived bent and weird and it seems lower quality than a pair of Hasbeens that I had purchased in the past. Every step I make involves some squeaking. I'm returning them.

Completely uncomfortable. No support at all, like walking barefoot on a boardwalk. Killed my back in a minute.

I would definitely recommend going down a size like the brand suggests. However, once I got the size right, I found these shoes to fit great and we’re quite comfortable to wear around all day. They’re one of my most favorite styles of Swedish Hasbeens and the color of the leather is just perfect. Highly recommend this shoe.

Love these! So cute. I’m excited to wear them. I have wide feet and frequently size up to 7.5 due to width. These fit perfectly at 37 and width was ok. The break in time was minimal and the width was workable. The leather is stiff but will stretch nicely. No blisters!

These are amazing and I love them. I would only say that the heel is high and I probably should have bought the shorter ones. I feel like I could take tumble on these and really do a number on my ankles (I’m a former ER nurse so I’ve seen terrible ankle breaks- I’m paranoid). The color is def more brown than it looks in the pictures but these are gorgeous shoes that I’ll be keeping! I went an entire size up based on reviews and they fit well. Normally I’m a size 8 but I ordered the 39 and they are comfortable.

Adorable color. Gorgeous in the photos. But $200+ for "Swedish" clogs that are made in Romania? No thanks. The quality was not anywhere near where it should be for this pricepoint. Plus, the leather that crosses the toes was not stapled exactly symmetrically, so it made me look like I was missing a toenail on one foot. Sadly, these are going back.

I love these shoes, and I've gotten lots of compliments on them. The yellow is pleasing and functions almost as a neutral. It pairs nicely with reds, blues, black, some browns, denim, deeper greens... The footbed and height are both comfortable. They are tall enough to give some lift, but not uncomfortably so. The only issue is that the leather is quite stiff at first and needs to be broken in. This toe straps caused blisters the first two or three times of wear. I tried speeding the breaking-in process by wearing with thick socks around the house. Since breaking them in, I can wear them comfortably all day.

Very cute shoes, but very uncomfortable. Leather was stiff and would have rubbed my skin, and the sole was stiff and didn't feel like the right angle for walking. I unfortunately had to return these shoes.
