Shimano

Shimano Logo
In 1961, a three-speed bicycle hub displayed at the New York Toy Show became the catalyst for what would eventually become Shimano American Corporation. The popularity of 20-inch wheeled bikes with hi-rise handle bars fueled a demand for multi-speed hubs and Shimano® began producing an affordable and reliable version that caught the attention of the cycling world. By 1965, Yoshizo Shimano, the youngest son of the company founder in Japan, opened an office in New York to get product feedback and to provide technical and warranty assistance to retailers selling bikes equipped with Shimano® parts.

Though Shimano America has grown from its modest office staffed by only three people to a full distribution center with sales and marketing offices, the goals are the same: to ensure that Shimano® always has a listening ear to provide feedback on relevant trends and needs and make it a reality for their customers.

Shimano® invented SPD recessed cleat and pedal technology, which revolutionized the industry. The unique systems-engineered shoe/pedal combinations - only from Shimano® - enhanced power-transfer even more. A few years later the efficiencies were applied to the road systems with the development of SPD-SL technology. Less wasted movement, even distribution of power across the pedal and increased comfort. Simply more power from you to the bike.

Shimano's participation extends much further than its products. Through advocacy programs, ISO 14001 certification and even commuter/car pool programs for their employees, Shimano® is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.

Shimano shoes have always felt very comfortable to me during many hours on the bike. The uppers are soft and flexible while the stiff soles prevent fatigue in the arch of the foot. I like the road touring style which allows you to walk on payment or concrete without messing up the SPD cleats on the bottom of the shoes.

Very comfortable spin shoe. SPD cleat compatible for spinning classes (need to buy separately, but inexpensive and easy to install!) These shoes have been easy to work out in since day 1. Strong Velcro that doesn’t budge !

These are my first pair of SPD shoes. Got the medium width originally which didn't fit me, Zappos sent me the wide pair which fit me perfectly. Pleased with my purchase.

Nice looking shoe; comfortable. Glad I read the reviews. I am a true size 7 (6.5 in Adidas Originals, which run half a size small). Size 40 (US 7.8) fit me perfectly, so order a larger size than usual. Bought these and attached Look Delta/SPD-SL cleats to use on Peloton spin bike. Hope this helps with sizing.

This is described as an indoor cycle shoe. IT IS NOT! It CAN be worn indoors but there is no rubber sole to protect floors or keep the shoe from totally sliding on a hard floor surface (and also causing the clear to scratch floors). There is a model of this same shoe with a rubber sole For walking indoors but not offered here (the SH-ME301 would work but not exactly the same). Would be perfect though for outdoor cycling, although that’s not what I needed, so I returned them.

These fit the bill for occasional indoor cycling (2-3/week). After about 15 wears, I did feel the straps need to be pulled a bit tighter but it's not a big issue since they're fine during class. Overall, good quality and comfortable (more than Pearl Izumi to me) for the price.

zappo.com is one of the best websites to deal with. they gave me express shipping in my first order .although I selected the wrong size, they helped me to return my order. they also shipped the correct on the same day, and I received my order the following morning. customer service is really great customer service. I highly recommend it.

Spin instructor wife replaced her old spin shoes. Loves them! She's a size 11 women normally...which is a perfect size 44 in these.

I am a 36 (Size 5 in the US) but I ordered a 37 (5.5) to have a little wiggle room at the front of the shoe. This shoe looked and felt considerably bigger and wider than I expected. By comparison, I ordered another shoe from a different brand and ordered a 36 and it fits. I'm going to actually order half a size up just for a little extra comfort especially since I'll be wearing these in the afternoon when feet are typically a little more swollen than in the morning. Although I like the style of the shoe and the lightness, I gave it three stars because of the sizing and because I like that my current spinning shoes have a place to tuck the shoe laces in.

This shoe looks good and fits well. I returned it because it is heavy and has little ventilation. The strap fastening to the medial aspect of the shoe is not a problem as several other high end Triathlon bike shoes are designed the same way. I advise not to let this design element deter you from giving these shoes a try.

There were a lot of complaints about the size being off, but it seemed to fit me exactly (about an 11 in US men’s, and bought the 11.2). It’s tighter than I’d like a running or everyday shoes, but for cycling it makes sense; foots not moving around at all. No real arch support, but as this is my first pair of cycling shoes I’m not sure if this is common or not. I use this primarily for Peloton cycling and so far they’ve been great!

I have wide feet and wear orthotics. The SH-ME2 shoes fit me better than any other bike shoe I've ever tried. They're sturdy, and hold up in pouring rain. No complaints. I also tried the Shimano SH-RP300 and they didn't feel nearly as comfortable.

I bought the shoe based on its style and look - not as bulky as a Mountain shoe, but with a sleek road shoe feel. What I found is that you must buy at least one size larger than you would expect as they run small and the hard toe offers no give. For me, I normally wear a 10.5 shoe (euro 45) but settled on an 11.8 shoe (euro 47) - a big difference (and even then my toe was pretty close to the end of the shoe). Other than that, excellent!

I ordered these based on reviews and I have to say I'm pretty frustrated. These shoes require a cleat adapter to be used with SPD cleats. This was not at all listed or stated anywhere. Returning!

Fit and size were good I wear an 8 and got a 41 So far comfortable. Wear riding a Peloton. So much more cushioned than the ones Peloton sell. Only 4 stars because expensive and the technology is new to me But getting the hang of the dial closure. I would recommend these shoes.

I LOVE these spin shoes. I wanted lace up ones because my foot tends to ache if I wear shoes that are too tight around the top of the shoe, so laces gives you full range of adjustment (versus two velcro straps). They're stylish and cute, and if you need to walk around you don't feel like you're walking on cleats - just a stiff sneaker. Note: for the type of cycling clips I had to get with these shoes, the clip bed is a little tight to the clip. I had to use an exacto knife to cut a bigger opening once the clips were installed, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to wiggle into the pedal as easily as I can with a wider clip bed.
