Shimano

Shimano Logo
In 1961, a three-speed bicycle hub displayed at the New York Toy Show became the catalyst for what would eventually become Shimano American Corporation. The popularity of 20-inch wheeled bikes with hi-rise handle bars fueled a demand for multi-speed hubs and Shimano® began producing an affordable and reliable version that caught the attention of the cycling world. By 1965, Yoshizo Shimano, the youngest son of the company founder in Japan, opened an office in New York to get product feedback and to provide technical and warranty assistance to retailers selling bikes equipped with Shimano® parts.

Though Shimano America has grown from its modest office staffed by only three people to a full distribution center with sales and marketing offices, the goals are the same: to ensure that Shimano® always has a listening ear to provide feedback on relevant trends and needs and make it a reality for their customers.

Shimano® invented SPD recessed cleat and pedal technology, which revolutionized the industry. The unique systems-engineered shoe/pedal combinations - only from Shimano® - enhanced power-transfer even more. A few years later the efficiencies were applied to the road systems with the development of SPD-SL technology. Less wasted movement, even distribution of power across the pedal and increased comfort. Simply more power from you to the bike.

Shimano's participation extends much further than its products. Through advocacy programs, ISO 14001 certification and even commuter/car pool programs for their employees, Shimano® is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.

These run a bit narrow at the toe and I had to go a size up. I like they way they look. So far only used them on my stationary bike, but look forward to using them for mountain biking.

Perfect! Works exceptionally well with my schwinn ic4. They are easy to get on and off and fit wonderfully—just how they should with a slight lift in the heel. They’re light-weight and cool looking too!

I read the reviews and ordered up a half size and I am glad I did because the size 40 fits perfectly! I have a wider toebox and a bunion so I cannot do super narrow shoes, these are wider but do not feel too big. They are very comfortable to wear for extended periods on my peloton bike and I love them and love the color! I’m usually a 39 and size 7.5 shoe for reference.

Great looking mountain biking shoe. Footbed was very comfortable. Width was great. However, the strap digs into my ankle. I can't imagine why they made it this way. It was digging in as soon as I put them on. There is no tongue to protect the front of my ankle from the strap. There is no way I would try to ride with this shoe as I am sure the front of my ankle would be rubbed raw right away. Very disappointing.

I liked these but they just didn't quite fit the shape of my foot, and it didn't feel like a size bigger was going to help.

This shoe at a 48 fit well for a 12.5 shoe size. Very comfortable. The clasp has been working well and easy to take on and off.

I wear 6.5 consistently and this is slightly longer than how my running shoes would fit. With the cinch down, I can make them work well for my bike. Really love the feel and use for the shoe - would recommend.

The white is far more appealing than the black, which looked like an old school Reebok shoe, nothing bad, just not attractive. I'm a solid size 9. The sizing Zappos has listed is off for sure when converting to European sizing. I bought a 41, but it was a half-size too big. I repurchased in size 40 and now my toe is more than meeting then end. I will be returning, unfortunately.

I use this shoe for MTB’ing trails. Comes with plates but you need to buy the cleat part separately. Awesome shoe, great tread for dismounting and waking on the trail when necessary.

These cleats are multi-directional and great for people new to locking in. You can get out in any direction. They with with any SPD set up but I feel like I get a little movement. So easy to use but depending on the shoe you sue them with you could have a bit of movement.

Ordered my size, had to reorder the next size down. No problem at all, Zappos had both pairs to my door in crazy fast time. Easy return, thanks Zappos! Ridden with them already, comfortable out of the box to both ride AND walk in. Going to be great for year round riding in Fla.

The style of this shoe is super comfortable right out of the box. I haven't ridden in them yet, but I have no worries. I am a pretty solid 8. I got these in a 40. I maybe could do the 39, but the I'm going to stick with the 40.

I wear a 5.5 in shoes and a 6 in sneakers. Ordered a sz 37 which was way too big. The slip-on style meant my heels didn't slip, but there was just way too much toe room and they were too wide. They fit more like I'd expect a 6.5 to fit vs a 6. Zero arch support.
