These shoes seem very well made but were very long and narrow. The arch also started very close to the heel. They did not work for my feet.

Once these are broken they are very comfortable and sturdy with great grip on the bottom

I tried these in a 6.5 and a 7. I sent them both back. Although gorgeous, these shoes had less room in the toe area (from bottom to top) than the Scarpa's that I kept. They rubbed the top of my foot wrong.

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they were too narrow for my feet. They also seemed to be about 1/2 a size smaller than normal. I liked the style and features, just too narrow for me. Hopefully you will have better luck.

Finally! An approach shoe shaped like an actual human foot! For years I've been frustrated with approach shoes being too tight and skinny in the toe box and being unable to wear them for any amount of time without aching feet being crushed from the sides. These shoes are absolutely amazing! I have wide feet (not to be confused with fat feet) with a high instep and these shoes are perfect. It looks like they have a great rubber toe that will perform well edging, I just haven't tried them outside yet. This is the first time in my life I've been excited to write a review for a product. I hope this company keeps going with this this awesomely shaped toe box.

Have both Ultra Train GTX and Salomon Speed 4. The Ultra Train is a little wider fit, if you don't narrow feet this shoe will work better than the Salomon. The Michelin sole seems to be wearing much better than the Salomon. If you have problems wearing out the Salomon soles the Ultra Train will last longer. About the same quality of construction for rest of the shoe.

It was hard to tell how these fit because they were too big. I'm going to size down and try again.

This is a cool looking shoe, I'll give it that. I returned it and kept the Keen Targhee EXP because I liked the more open "square" toe box of the Keen. I don't have a wide foot but I felt that the toe "slant" on the front of the shoe would really bother the outside of my big toe. The shoe is kind of 'pointy'. Otherwise, it's a great looking shoe. It's a little bulky around the ankles but I also felt like it would give good support. I am returning these and keeping the Keens.

As with the other Salewa footwear I've purchased, these Trektail hikers are very comfortable. Once you get situated and "strapped in" you'll see what I mean. They invoke confidence. And they are a great looking shoe. Lots of compliments. Built like a tank. I'm a bit of a shoe & equipment freak. I do my homework - and obviously Salewa is doing theirs.

I have been looking for this style of shoe for a while. And when I do my homework for an item, I really do my homework. The Salewa Ultra Train is a really well made piece of equipment. I went with a 1/2 size larger than my usual . Once you get you foot settled in and the lacing adjusted they fit like a glove. They inspire confidence. I have to say that of all the companies producing this genre of footwear it appears that SALEWA is quietly winning over customers. Plus I dig their styling and color themes.

Thought this boot looked really stylish, but I found it to be too narrow in the middle of the boot, and the arches made my feet cramp just walking around in them. Toe box felt fine, but felt like a tighter fit without any room to spear for thick socks.

The shoes fit great and grab the surface. I hiked some of the most dangerous hikes in Oahu and the shoes performed well for a short time. After a few months of use, the sole of the shoe came off. This should not happen for a $145 professional hiking shoes. I have other shoes that have lasted longer..

What a beast of a shoe for not a ton of weight. Trekked glaciers and Torres del Paine National Park in Chile for days. These held up, great grip and the GTX works. The slightly raised arch also worked for wearing gaiters.

Great fit and very comfortable. I find most shoes comfortable but these offer a step up, and it's noticeable. My Aslo, Merrel, or Scarpa shoes are all comfortable too, but Salewa seems to have it really dialed in.

Wore these shoes on the Colorado Trail. The first time I tied the shoe the laces broke, so I bought after market laces. Those laces slowly sawed through the lace loop. The nylon lacing loops towards the top are a bad design choice. Maybe it looks cool, but the shoe won't last.

Haven't put a lot of miles on these shoes yet but, so far, perhaps the most comfortable hiking shoes I've worn. Super lightweight and great fit. The uppers are flexible, breathable, and envelop the foot almost like a sock. If wet, they drain easily and dry quickly. The soles are flexible in the forefoot and stiff in the middle, a perfect balance. Flex allows for comfortable running with enough solidity and stability for rocky ground, loose gravel, and pointy rock hopping. Salewa's customer service is fantastic. I have a hard to fit foot and they went out of their way to ensure I found the right shoe. Highly recommended!

Salewa is a quality shoe, the Mountain Trainer GTX was loose in the heel for me. These are great looking and I will be looking at other Salewa shoes.

Overall, great shoes. I haven't had good luck with "waterproof" shoes in the past but these have yet to let my feet get wet.

This shoe is solid as all-get-out. It took a few tries to get the size right, but what a shoe. It feels like it’s built like a tank but its weight is not as bad as one would think.

OH MY. These shoes are awesome. I thought the Scarpa's were great until I decided to try these and I am so glad I did!!! I'm flat footed and these shoes do not allow my foot to roll inward - so great arch support and foot stability. Very comfortable as well. Toe box has room even with tapered toe. Appears to be well constructed as well. I also liked the insole options in the box and was really easy to also use my custom Wiiv insoles too. LOVE. Will definitely try this brand in the future when I wear these out...Feel true to size and heel is not slipping either.
