I probably have 120 miles on these now; I purchased a size 11.5, which I normally wear. Fit-wise, they are a little narrow in the toe box and a little loose in the heal, maybe a little short. Most of this can be adjusted reasonably well with lacing. They have a nice stiff sole and good lateral support, if you like that (I do). The rubber is not Vibram, and is not as grippy on rocks, but otherwise has good traction. After a few trips across shallow streams and in snow they appear to be water-proof. Overall, they are fine - not my ideal shoe, but certainly serviceable.

Boot took over a week and several small hikes to break in (about 15 miles). Once broken in, it was perfect for long hikes. Boot ran 1/2 shoe size bigger and don’t come in Wide. At first, I almost returned them because the toe box felt too narrow. I loosened the laces and tighten them near the ankles, made a huge difference. Completed a 23 mile loop in Grand Teton and another 17 miles the Next day. Boot held up and felt great at the end of 2 days of hiking.

I could tell by looking at these that they were going to be too narrow for my feet, which are on the wider side. Good looking shoes but simply do not work for me.

Great boots so far. Waterproof (I’ve worn them in high, very wet grass on multiple occasions) and surprisingly comfortable in 100deg humid temps too. I usually wear a 12 in almost everything, but Salewa is always a bit different for me. I wear size 12.5 in these and they’re perfect. In other Salewa shoes I wear a 13 (Wildfire GTX). I’m a big fan of Salewa’s fit and style, though I prefer their less flashy colors. These look great and feel great too. The only downside I’ve noticed is that the laces can kind of cut into my ankle if I lace them too tight. I think this is caused by the soft tongue and the thin laces. Doesn’t change that I really like them. I just have to resist the urge to ratchet them down.

look good, feel solid and stable underfoot, good shock absorption, slightly narrow in the forefoot (probably not good for wide feet).

I liked these hiking boots a lot in terms of their comfort and style. However, they wore out quickly (the fabric at the top of the shoe), before I even had an opportunity to wear them on a hike.

The new Dropline mid is an exceptional lightweight hiking boot. I needed a new boot just days before a 35 mile backpacking trip, and the Dropline was very comfortable, and needed no breaking in. It is very breathable, and provides great ankle support. I did another trip with a lot of rock formations to cross, and the sole gripped the rock very well. This is my new favorite boot. In my experience Salewas run just a tad small, more like a 1/4 size small than a 1/2 size, though. I am usually a 10 1/2 but got the 11 1/2 and it was perfect. I also have a narrower foot and the Dropline fit great. (I can’t comment on the variable volume insole because I use orthotics.)

I LOVE these shoes! I had a pair from this brand that had a seam in a weird place on the toe and they were very uncomfortable so I was skeptical, but they are terrific! Lightweight, super tread, and fun colors. Two thumbs up!!!!

In the RIGHT SIZE, this shoe I love love love. It's the only shoe I can currently use. But overall I love// hate Salewa. This shoe, gore-tex, walnut is noticeably smaller than non-gore-tex! (We can invent gore-tex but can't figure how to size a shoe using gore-tex? And it;s 1/4 size smaller - enough to hurt horribly after a few hours but not enough to size-up.) Salewa is a small company so they don;t make some models in small sizes (I need M 7) or they don;t make enough and so sell out. Online sales rep breezily wrote "It looks like we just sold out of them, we will be getting more in December and January." in JUNE he wrote that. Plus they have no way to notify me when the new shoes drop. He also suggested I try Women's 8. Hot flash, W8 ? M7. Esp in width. all that aside, when it fits I adore it. // Stock up when they drop!

This is a great boot. Like most Salewas, the boot runs just a touch small. But it was comfortable out of the box, and a few days after getting them I did a 36-mile backpacking trip and had zero issues. Good cushioning and a reasonably stiff sole.

These are superbly structured shoes. The sole is the most stiff and supportive I’ve found in any low hiking shoe, including Scarpa and Asolo; excellent for hiking, even with a moderately heavy backpack. The lacing system is very adjustable and the two layer tongue system keeps out dirt. Note*** these are sized small — low volume and narrow. The fit is totally different from the higher volume, wider “Mountain Trainer Lite” model, and this is a more refined shoe. (I wear a 12 in most American shoes, a 13 in the Mountain Trainer 2, and a 12.5 in the Mountain Trainer Lite).

Beautiful hikes with perfect heel. No arch support and my padded heel socks work great with these. I am happy I got them. I added a light arch support. And I'm glad that it isn't too much arch support in them so I can control how much I need.

I love them. They fit my medium 9 foot perfectly. I do see how someone could say the heel might slip but my hiking socks have extra heel padding so they work perfectly. I also have high arches and I am not getting much arch support but I can add what I need rather than have too much in the arches. They look Great. They fit great. I am happy I got them.

This shoe had great cushion and stability for a hiking/trail running shoe - immediately felt very comfortable and not stiff like some other trail running shoes. However, there were several things that I felt were defective in the design that were deal breakers for me. 1) The tongue on the right shoe disappeared under the laces. 2) The right shoe seemed ( and even looked) narrower than the left. 3) There was a knot (that I could not remove) on the right shoe lace which made it difficult to tie. 4) The heel slipped even when I put on a thicker sock. I actually tried the Salewa Speed Boat, and they are amazing with none of the defects mentioned above. I normally wear a 10.5 Women's Brooks running shoes and these ran similar in size, but the heel slipped. Love the cushion, but couldn't deal with the other issues.

I wear a size 12 and a size 12 in these were too narrow and felt too tight. I ended up ordering a 12.5 in the Mountain Trainer 2 L and the Mountain Trainer 2 GTX, just to compare; 12.5 fit in both pair, but the GTX seemed to have a bit more room in the width. I ended up keeping the GTX and sending back the MT 2 L, however, if it wouldn't have been for the cost I would have kept both pair, I like them that much. I haven't had an opportunity to hike in these yet, going this weekend, but I have been wearing them around the house and out in the neighborhood, to break them in. Shoes feel comfortable, size is perfect, but they are a bit stiff at first. I understand the stiffness will go away with some miles under the shoes, just wanted to mention that. Overall I'm pretty happy with these, pending a actual hike, but I'm sure they will be great. They feel really solid and I'm sure will take years of mountain abuse.

THIS SHOE HAS NO TONGUE! I was afraid this shoe would dig in at the top of my foot because it has no tongue. Strange design. Did not risk it on a 14,000 foot summit hike. Toe is pointy, but I ordered up a half size and the fit was fine.
