This is the second pair of Salewa athletic shoes I have purchased, which is a statement itself. They are comfortable, which is a challenge for me because me feet are two different sizes. They feel good and they look good. What else could I ask for? Arrived earlier than expected and I have ordered from Zappos for years without ever having a problem. I trust them.

These shoes are probably over and above what I need for my daily walk, but I do walk on hilly, wet, sometimes slick (moss covered) sidewalks and streets. I wanted non-slip shoes and these seem to be just what I want. The Oregon winter rains are yet to come, but I have walked in somewhat slick conditions and the shoes are as advertised so far. I read reviews on adventure websites and these shoes get stellar reviews everywhere. I am not overly sold on the climbing lacing system but once I figured it out I am ok with it. (I am wondering what would happen if a lace breaks, but considering the expected quality of these shoes I hope that will not happen.) The jury is out on whether or not I would purchase shoes with this lacing system in the future. For now, I am sold on these very comfortable walking shoes. I am also not sure I would pay full price for them. They are expensive, but I got them on sale. I fluctuate between 7.5 and 8, depending on brand, and the 8's fit perfectly. (I had a bit of an issue with my order and, as always, Zappos customer service came through!)

I’ve ordered a half size bigger, cause they didn’t have my size... turned out to be 2 size bigger. I was committed the purchase based on I’ve had a Salewa shoes before. Still think Salewa is unbeatable in hiking shoes!

I have been wearing a lot of Salomon brand shoes. I've good experience but tried these on recommendation of a friend. Fit: They feel about a half size small. Still comfortable but they just fit. If you are close go a size up. Comfort: I'm impressed with how comfortable. They have a little stiffer sole than the different Salomon I have tried. Breathability : this is my only real gripe. They make my feet sweat like no shoe I have ever owned. After one 8 hour day of use they began to smell terrible. I have to spray them every day with something to try to kill the smell. I've tried several things and nothing really works. Never had that problem with any other GTX shoe I have owned. (been through 10 pairs of Salomons, 2 pairs of Merrill, a pair of Asolo, and 2 pair of North face, over the years) I'll probably end up wearing them for yard work because it's getting to the point I can't wear them in public due to the smell.

These do run small. With the size I normally wear, the arch didn't feel substantial at all. As soon as I got 1/2 size larger, the arch felt perfect. Great shoes if you make sure you take the time to get the right size.

Love the look of this shoe on the foot. Laces come up high enough to cinch foot to back of shoe when going down hill. Great feel of heel on the ground and support. Disappointed it is more narrow than their other shoes. Would have bought it if it was wider or was available in wide.

Ordered these after researching and trying a couple other styles by Salewa and others. Was still searching for what seemed to be an elusive replacement for Lowa Tempests (which don't fit me like they used to... 4 pairs later). But, on to the Mountain Trainer GTX: Fit and finish are excellent, with solid construction and intelligent design. They do feel a little short in length, but that seems to be changing as they break in and the heel pocket and upper collar soften a bit. Really like how secure my feet feel in these! The lacing and 3F system lock my foot in place -- no slop, no sliding and extremely stable while hiking some rocky trails near here. They are very stiff when new and have a slight forward rocking motion on the move; which is very like my old Tempests and something I like. The Mtn Trainer is not a lightweight shoe, but I don't honestly notice the weight. Also, it probably is not for the wide or thick of foot! I have an average width foot which is somewhat thin, top to bottom, and these fit very nicely with a lightwight merino wool sock (Smartwool Phd) Trying to get them broken in before a honeymoon trip to do some serious hiking on the Isle of Skye and the West of Ireland next month. So far, so good -- they feel like winners!

I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 shoe, but had to get a full size larger in this model of the Salewa, but it was worth the hassle of returning not one but two orders (first a 7 then a 7.5) before landing on the 8 which fits perfectly. For a very sturdy hiking shoe, this one is comfortable right out of the box. It looks and feels great and is a perfect shoe to go from city to country to trail. Very happy with this purchase now that I've gotten the correct size. Happily Zappos makes returns very easy!

These boots are bomb proof. I have hiked a bit In them and out of the box prime comfort. I would recommend that you take the time to break them in. I had a few hot spots on my feet the first 10-20 miles of hiking. Now they feet perfect. These boots aren't hot, flimsy, or uncomfortable. The waterproofing has been spot on all the way up above the ankle. I plan on wearing these for two elk hunts this fall. I look forward to how stiff these are so I can carry 40+ lbs. Will more than likely buy these for my father.

I have had these shoes for a few months now. I wear them for daily work and hikes. They are extremely comfortable. I have the Gore-Tex version and they aren't hot at all. I am 10.5 true and I went with the 10.5 for the tight snug fit that an approach shoe should have. The 3f system has been great for keep my heel locked into the shoe, and reducing the chance of blisters. I tested the waterproofing multiple times and it was perfect. My feet felt wet, but it was just my sweat the cold water making my feet cold. (I pulled the shoes off to check). I am for sure going to be purchasing another pair!

These shoes are very well made, and I love that they come in this nice neutral color with no crazy hideous pink or orange stripes. Comfortable and with solid, almost heavy bottoms, good for protection from rocks. they do feel like maybe they are a size too big. They are very loooong! Great if you like thick hiking socks, I guess. And the lace design makes them appear even longer. I don't get it. I don't need the laces to come down to my toes. It makes this rather attractive shoe unattractive and weird.

I have narrow feet for a guy. These shoes fit me very well when most new shoes feel a bit too wide. The shoes are comfortable in longer walks, (haven't run i them) and the support is spot on even for a pronator like me. I highly recommend these shoes.

A very comfortable shoe. I normally wear an 11.5 in a Salomon, had to go up a half size in the Salewa.

I bought half size smaller than what I usually wear after reading the reviews and I was glad I did. I usually wear size 8 and the pair I purchased size 7.5 were the right fit. I purchased the shoes to hike MachuPicchu Mountain; they certainly helped to make the hike easier. The sole of the shoe was good.

I have hiked many thousands of miles in the mountain and have owned many shoes by different brands but I have never worn a shoe worse than this Salewa Multi Track GTX shoe. It feels like walking in a brick with a ill-fitted hole inside for your foot. Everything about this shoe is bad. I tried running, hiking and walking in the shoe, hoping that it needs some time to adjust to my feet but it only made my feet sore in all the possible places that can feel sore. If these shoes cost 10 dollars, I would have forgotten about them, but at this price the way the shoe is designed is outright offensive. I have no idea who designed it and if that person has ever been to the mountains. PS. They do keep your sore feet dry though!

When I first put these shoes on, I was unsure about the fit. While they felt perfectly snug in the heel, they were a little too snug in the toes, which usually is a no-go and cause of blisters for me. However, I gave them a chance and I'm sure glad I did. After a few days of wearing them around the house, the material surrounding my toes stretched out a little, (just enough to allow for more wiggle room, but not enough so that my toes "swim"). The tread on these shoes provides the perfect amount of grip for running on various terrain, and I love that the lacing system allows me to slip them on and be run-ready in less than 15 seconds, while staying tight during my runs.

I have the Salewa Alp Trainer boots, and they are the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet. I was looking for a lower version those boots, but found these to be a lot narrower, and since they are more of an approach shoe, they don't have the cushioning or comfort of the Alp Trainer boots. I think if you had narrow feet and were looking for a true approach shoe, these would probably work really well.
