Red Wing Heritage

Red Wing Heritage Logo
Red Wing Shoes® was built on America’s great promise; if one worked hard enough, one could achieve anything. A big believer in this promise, Charles Beckman, a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota started on a mission. From his Main Street shoe store, he saw firsthand the need for durable, comfortable boots. In 1905 he founded the Red Wing Shoe Company®. Word spread quickly about the quality and comfort built into every pair and the company prospered.
Today, a third generation of employees, located just down the road from the original factory, continue to build boots in this tradition by using the same craftsmanship and attention to detail. Triple-stitched seams, sturdy welt construction and rich leathers are signature elements. Over a century of Red Wing Heritage® goes into every boot.

I just got these but haven't worn them out and about yet. Really well made and heavier than I was expecting (in a good way). My only gripe is that they didn't come in the original box. It was an Amazon-esque "frustration free" package, claiming the original box was damaged in shipment. The boots weren't stuffed with paper like I would expect on new boots, but they seem to be unworn upon inspection. For $300+ for a pair of boots, I'd expect pristine packaging. I bet they were a return which kind of icks me out... but... they were the last pair left in my size, so hey, sounds good! (I'd have recycled the box anyhow.)

True Red Wing quality. Fits true to size - I wear a size 10.5 in Nike, Adidas, and New Balance sneakers and ordered a 9.5 in these boots. Amazingly light and comfortable, for a boot. Outstanding arch support. Look great with Jeans or chinos. I’m very pleased with these boots.

2 sizes down from my sneaker size. You have to try on before buying. I kept going down in size until I couldn't get the boot on, then went up the next half size and they fit perfectly. Speed of delivery was fantastic. I was afraid they'd been worn as they weren't delivered in a Red Wing box, but that's the only negative thing I can say about the transaction.

high-quality boots on every aspect. my suggestion would be to size these boots one size down. normally a 10D or 43 EU so with redwing weekender 9 and these 875's also a 9. They fit well with thick socks and are roomy with normal socks. when fitting, I mainly seek where my foot bends to understand if a boot is a right size. Bent at the widest part of the boot and didn't squash any toes, some heel slip, tight on the sides and plenty of room in my toes, and a little snug. All good signs according to all the suggestions. Currently breaking these in and on my second week wearing full day 4x a week and these are relentlessly tough. I'm barely breaking the footbead and the tops rub against the back of my leg right below the calf. If you're in the market, they are really pretty but don't get them expecting to be comfy right out the box. Will update my review after the break-in. I have tried the Thorogood boots and significantly more comfortable on day one. The leather is much more supple. Those boots will need to break in on the width of your foot. Both are great boots but these fit my foot better like where my foot bends and liked the build quality more than the Thorogood. I posted a picture on day one of the boot and could not lace up like I normally would due to the toughness of the leather.

These are a very cool; a rugged, stylish and substantial pair of classic work books. I normally wear a 10, and my feet run wider (e.g., I don't always need wide width, but some brands are almost always too narrow for me - like Puma and Adidas). Based on feedback, and past experience with Red Wing Heritage, I ordered a full size smaller (size 9), and a wide width...and they fit perfectly. The leather is pretty rigid, so may take a while to break in but my other Red Wings have broken in pretty quickly.

If the laces are pulled tight, sides almost touch. Looser tying makes everything feel better and sides are 1/2'' apart at top. They seem to be stretching in the right places so far, but if sides touch, it will be 11C and keep 11D for times when extra socks are required.

My 3rd pair… absolutely worth every penny. If you’re new to Red Wing Heritage’s, size down a half size from your regular tennis shoe size.

I have been wanting a pair of chelsea boots for some time, and I had my heart set on these because Red Wing will last if I take care of them, and will be waterproof. I am usually an 8.5/39 and I ordered an 8.5 and a 9. I tried them on with thin no show flats socks, regular socks, REI ankle wool socks, and medium smartwool socks. The 8.5 made my foot hurt so badly, and even fall asleep. They seemed like the right size, and I put them on and sat on the couch for a bit for the leather to warm up before I stood up. There was still enough room for the width of my thumb or more at the toe. I think the width was just too narrow. Other than that the 8.5 would have been great. The 9s fit with all socks whereas the 8.5 didn't work with the smartwool and was certainly too tight with either pair of wool socks. The 9s just looked and felt huge, being at least 1.5"+ past my big toe and the footbed just didn't feel like it was right. I wanted these to work so badly, I think the 8.5 is right (so true to size) but being that it made my foot seize up (and even made my knee start to hurt, what??) I'm going to have to look elsewhere, perhaps the mens Red Wing chelsea will work but the bottoms of the mens aren't the same black colorway right now. I love leather boots and have many pairs from different brands, I know the leather will stretch and mold to my foot but with how the 8.5s wreaked havoc on my foot after just a few minutes on, I have no idea how I'd get past the break in period. The 9s I imagine would be way too loose after the break in period. Reminds me of how the Acne Jensen just does not work for me but it wasn't as immediately painful as the Red Wings.

The leather is good quality. I wore these boots right out of the box for a day of motorcycle riding and a moderate amount of walking . They were stiff, which is to be expected, but otherwise comfortable. They are a bit wide and slippy in the heel for me.

I'm usually a 9, and these felt spot on, but they were a little narrow for my feet. Usually i don't have a problem, but I felt like almost my whole little toe was not supported on the sole. Otherwise beautiful, comfortable boot and I'm sad they didn't work; but for the money I'm not risking them getting too little wear.

This is my 2nd pair of Red swing Heritage boots they are the best boots that I ever bought. These shoes didn’t come with the RW insoles so you might want to get them first. You definitely need a shoe horn to get them on. But they are extremely comfortable.

I put felt true to size as my normal Red Wing Heritage size is 11.5D but am a 12D in most shoes and cheaper imported boots. My suggestion on the Red Wing Heritage boots is to order a 1/2 size down. These boots were comfortable from day one with no break-in needed. My Red Wing Iron Rangers and Blacksmith boots needed various break-in times but this boot was great from day 1.

I noted they fit true to size but my true size is a 12D. I have numerous Red Wing Heritage boots and always size down a 1/2 size. This is not an issue as I size down a 1/2 size in almost all quality boots. Cheaper boots and dress shoes I wear a 12D. It takes a little while to break in Red Wings. I usually just have the bottom of my feet being sore as the boots mold to my feet. Others may have different experiences with break in. Love Red Wing Heritage.

As a fan of Red Wing Heritage boots, I thought it was a great idea to buy these for my wife; I was mistaken. I have four different pairs of men's Iron Rangers (among other models) and I can say unequivocally, the women's Iron Ranger is NOT built to the same standard as the men's. I feel like they swapped durability and longevity for comfort and style. Now, while I can understand this to some extent, the price tag doesn't reflect it - the men's and women's are the same price. The leather on my (men's) amber harness Iron Rangers feels thicker, tougher. When I hold my boot in my hand, it feels like a good boot. The amber harness women's boot feels cheap. It's very light. The leather feels thinner. The insole isn't a full slab of veg tanned leather like in the men's, it's a piece of soft leather lined squishy foam. On top of that, besides the cheaper insole material, there is a large gap around the outer edge of the insole between it and the actual leather of the shoe that my wife's little toe was falling into. Maybe her pair was an anomaly, maybe it was a Friday at 4:55pm boot, I don't know. Overall, pretty disappointing for a $320 USA made boot.
