Experience spawned inspiration, and a revolutionary new gaiter solution was born. Nearly 30 years later, Outdoor Research continues its long tradition of creative innovation by carefully listening to the requests and feedback of its customers, ambassadors and employees, all who push boundaries within their sport.

Outdoor Research enthusiastically supports the outstanding conservation, access and educational efforts of a variety of organizations. Great sun hat. Shaped longer in the back to keep the sun off your neck too. Working outside this summer and needed a hat that offered maximum protection. This definitely fits the bill. I’ve gotten many compliments on how it looks. Loved it so much that I bought 3 different colors. Very well made so I may not have to ever buy another.

I’ve had one of these since 2009. 2 more since then. They’re fantastic sun hats for many reasons. When tensioned a little with the bungee in the back, this hat says put on your head even in gusts. Has a really nice shape to the brim, low in front and back higher curve up on the sides. Wicks sweat, great SPF, can take some abuse. I spend a good amount of time in the Mojave desert, Death Valley, and Black Rock, NV overlanding/camping. I won’t go out without this hat. It’s as essential as sunscreen. Some people have written this is a cheap hat. I say, false. I think OR makes the best hats available. If I could find a better one, I’d get it. This is a great hat that I hope to never be without.

I like this hat so much that I ordered one as a gift for my mother. It is very cool and the flap keeps the sun off of the back of my neck. I purchased it to use on my daily walks.

cap is lightweight, fits well on the head because of the adjustable strap in the rear. would order your usual size or a size up because the extra material on the side could help more with sun protection. I thought it would shelter my face cheeks more so definitely still need to wear sunscreen on the nose, chin, etc. The reason I purchased this item was because of the string in front which helps as I had assumed. The highlight of this cap is the neck protection.

Seattle Sombrero

I grew up with an OR Seattle Sombrero stuck to my head and wore it on every adventure where the rain showed face. Sadly this new hat, while waterproof, breathable, and lighter weight than the original, is useless as soon as the wind blows. The brim of the hat bends back and plasters against your skull at the slightest gust, which means you're basically wearing a waterproof skull cap. My raincoat hood is better use at that point. Can I still buy the old style that could handle wind?

I have used these gaiters twice. I like their lighter weight for late spring adventures, but I find that, compared with my gaiters that were much older also by OR, they do not stay up on my leg. They tend to fall down and cannot be tightened sufficiently. Was there a redesign done in the last few years.

Transcendent Down Beanie

Amazing hat with room for a ponytail or bun. I have an average size female head and I recommend getting the L/XL as I hate when it's too tight around my ears. You can even fit a wool cap below for ultra warmth. Hard to configure with a headlamp as it will slide on the down, but other than that I'm in love with this beanie and all my hiking friends were impressed too!

I followed the size chart on the website and the hat is several sizes too small. They said i could return it but i had to pay the shipping and that was half the value of the hat. So it is sitting on a shelf looking like a really nice hat that i will end up giving to a charity place.

I've got three of these hats (different colors) - they are light-weight, highly breathable, and the ones that I have are of a darker color under the brim; thereby helping reduce glare. Great for long and short runs!

Bugout Sun Sleeves

for the longest time I was buying sunscreen and sometimes getting sunscreen on my tee or the arm rests in the car :( but now I have these sleeves and I would purchase more, if they had more colors to choose from. use this for mountain biking, road trips and long walks/hiking. I get warm very easily but this actually cools me down. I do notice that on the underside of the hand the material gets dirty when bike riding, probably cause of my bike's handle bar, but it washes out well and drys very fast. would definitely purchase for family etc.

Yard work! 50 SPF protects my old noggin, had some keratosis spots removed last summer by my dermatologist on both sides of my temples. Using Nuetrogena 70 SPF Sport Face on my forehead and an OR Helios XL sun hat for yard work and an OR Sombroilet XL 50 SPF for walks. Love the venting on the Sombroilet, wish the Helios was the same. Prefer the vented hat, cooler.
