Newton Running

Newton Running Logo
The inspiration behind Newton® running shoes, as well the brand’s name, was Sir Isaac Newton and his third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

A leader in natural running, Newton believes that maintaining natural running form without being barefoot requires a shoe that allows the foot to connect with the ground as though it is shoeless. Any geometric change interferes with the natural gait, which is why every shoe is built on a level platform that mimics the foot’s natural geometry. Unhindered, flexible movement is essential, as long as the shoe is still protective enough to prevent injury over harsh terrain.

Newton encourages landing on the mid-foot to forefoot. When you walk, you heel strike. Sprinting propels you forward, causing you to land on your toes. The brand believes that optimal running gait falls somewhere in between. To help maintain this, Newton has taken great care to research and design their shoes. You will find technologies like Active Membrane Technology™, Action/Reaction Technology™ and the Biomechanical Sensor Plate throughout the line.

So who are Newton running shoes for? They are for runners who are already mid-foot or forefoot strikers, as well as those who are working on transitioning from heel striking to a more natural running form.

Slip into a Newton running shoe and experience the science of motion.

I have had so many sneakers over the years and these are without a doubt the most comfortable ones I’ve ever had on! I’m thinking of getting another pair in case they stop making them!

I was really hoping this shoe would do the job. I had read about the wide toe box etc. I ordered the shoe a half size larger than I normally get. It was still too small. The space in the toe box was not impressive at all. The extra sole under the ball of your foot feels like something added that didn't belong. Just not impressed.

Love my Newton’s ! Switched styles from the Kismet to the Motion . Great Choice ! Ran a full size small for me. Lightweight Supportive shoe for all types of training/ running activities. A little on the expensive side but worth it.

The increased lift at the ball of the foot felt pretty comfortable walking around the house, but when I tried running it felt unnatural. My heel strike transitioned unnaturally into my rolloff, and my rolloff almost ignored my big toe. Felt to me like I was making myself prone to plantar fasciitis. Just not for me. It's quality-made, no doubt. Just made for someone else's foot and gait.

This athletic shoe runs just a wee bit small, which is PERFECT for those of us with small feet! I typically wear a 4.5 but had to purchase size 5 which fit better for my small foot than other name brands. Yes, they are expensive, but well worth the money.

This note is to Newton, not Zappos. These shoes are positively awful. Way too big in my normal size and a weird feel and fit when I tried a smaller size. Why oh why must running shoes continually be "discontinued" and reworked into sub-par models? So incredibly frustrating. The motion 6 was awesome. 7 was okay. 8 is terrible. Heading off to search for clearance Motion 7s. :-( Thanks to Zappos for being so AWESOME though.

This is my first time running in Newton’s and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a lightweight shoe with a superb and highly breathable upper. While my feet are not wide, a require a lot of toe room which is why my go-to shoes are typically Altras (Escalante). The Distance 8, however, has plenty of room in the forefoot and has a great feel and fit from the moment you put them on. The “lugs” or POP system Newton’s are famous for (this is the raised of protruding area of the sole in the forefoot area) may feel strange when walking, but once you start running they become virtually unnoticeable. For me, this additional cushion underfoot is what gives the Newton’s a unique and super satisfying feel. I run 40-50 miles a month and tend to stick to just a couple of shoe brands. I don’t switch or change brands often, but in this case, I’m definitely glad I did.

Purchased as a bday gift for hubby. He loves them. Usually wears a wide 10.5-11 in new balance. The 11 reg width fit perfectly. He said he forgot he was wearing shoes they were so comfortable. Good cushion and good support. They have just enough detail to make them interesting without being too loud.

This shoe is very well made but the design is a bit "busy", especially the part of the sole that passes under the instep, the marbley painted on stuff. That said, I suspect this is a good running shoe for some. It has a rather strange sole and you roll forward with each step, but rather than a continuous roll, it feels as if there's a "tipping point" and you suddenly are propelled forward once you pass that point. As I say, perhaps that would be an advantage for a runner. I would also say that it seemed narrower than most to me.

I've bought many Newton Running shoes and use them exclusively for cross country running. I really liked the Fate and the previous versions of Kismet. This model, however, felt too wide. I wish the colors were less noisy.

i normally wear a 10 wide but I like the quality and style but they only come in a regular width.so I ordered a 10 1/2. and fit perfect. The style Kismet 4 have a slightly wider toe box than the other Newton.

Once you try the Newton Kismet 4, you will not want to go back to any other running shoe including the Newton Fate (my previous shoe was the Fate II) It is extremely confortable for running on pavement and treadmill, this brand has very durable shoes too, my Fate II lasted me more than a year of constant running in them, so they are worth the price.
