Newton Running

Newton Running Logo
The inspiration behind Newton® running shoes, as well the brand’s name, was Sir Isaac Newton and his third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

A leader in natural running, Newton believes that maintaining natural running form without being barefoot requires a shoe that allows the foot to connect with the ground as though it is shoeless. Any geometric change interferes with the natural gait, which is why every shoe is built on a level platform that mimics the foot’s natural geometry. Unhindered, flexible movement is essential, as long as the shoe is still protective enough to prevent injury over harsh terrain.

Newton encourages landing on the mid-foot to forefoot. When you walk, you heel strike. Sprinting propels you forward, causing you to land on your toes. The brand believes that optimal running gait falls somewhere in between. To help maintain this, Newton has taken great care to research and design their shoes. You will find technologies like Active Membrane Technology™, Action/Reaction Technology™ and the Biomechanical Sensor Plate throughout the line.

So who are Newton running shoes for? They are for runners who are already mid-foot or forefoot strikers, as well as those who are working on transitioning from heel striking to a more natural running form.

Slip into a Newton running shoe and experience the science of motion.

I go a half size up for running shoes. I’m normally a 9 in all other shoes. I bought a 9.5 but they run a little short and narrow, making them feel more like a 9 without the extra toe space. Everything else about them is extremely comfortable so I’ve decided to keep them. They look good and they are working well for me these first few days running on a manual treadmill (which requires shoes with some grip), jump roping and walking several miles. They feel flat without a dramatic heel to toe drop and they have good cushioning for arch support. They do not have the thick heel, height and bulk ones that many sneakers have. These are great for a more natural movement.

I wear these every day. They are definitely more of an advanced runner type of sneaker than the Focus - there is less padding on the heel and more on the forefoot. Awesome sneaks!

Awesome shoe - comfortable and stylish. Unfortunately it was a tad narrow for my feet and a bit narrow when compared to other Newton shoes.

Excellent shoe. Very comfortable, will be great for walking and workouts. A little too cushioned for me as a running shoe but that’s just a personal preference. Very unhappy with the amount of time it took to receive the shoe. I’m only 20 min away from the warehouse but took a week to receive and that’s being a zappo vip and Amazon prime. Ordered another shoe from out of town as Zappos did not have my size available and without any expedited shipment arrived 2 days earlier (same carrier).

I ordered a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear and the size was perfect. Best running shoe I've purchased in many years. My only wish is that there were more colors to choose from.

I normally wear a 9.5 or 10 but I require a 10.5 in this shoe. I love the shoes because they are the only running/walking shoes I can wear out of the box without a break-in period and also because of their support.

I love the vibrant colors. The raised sole at the ball of the foot took some getting used to.

I really wanted to love this shoe as it is really cool looking. I tried them on and instantly noticed they are too wide. I tied laces as tied as i could so they became more snug. I ran my hallway up and down quite a few times and noticed the soul is kidsa funny, it has a cushion ( or it feels like) on the ball of the foot which makes running a bit weird. But fairly i returned because they were too wide, my feet are narrow.

Been running in Newtons for several years to manage plantar fasciitis. The lugs on the front encourage a forefoot strike. Trying to increase my milage, so I'm now alternating these and Gravity, which was my previous shoe. These feel just a little lighter, have a little more cushion, and are a lower drop from heel to toe, so it helps keep the calf just slightly more stretched. For me, totally worth the money to avoid injury. Colors are a little less crazy than other Newtons, but still totally happy with them.
