Newton Running

Newton Running Logo
The inspiration behind Newton® running shoes, as well the brand’s name, was Sir Isaac Newton and his third law of motion, which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

A leader in natural running, Newton believes that maintaining natural running form without being barefoot requires a shoe that allows the foot to connect with the ground as though it is shoeless. Any geometric change interferes with the natural gait, which is why every shoe is built on a level platform that mimics the foot’s natural geometry. Unhindered, flexible movement is essential, as long as the shoe is still protective enough to prevent injury over harsh terrain.

Newton encourages landing on the mid-foot to forefoot. When you walk, you heel strike. Sprinting propels you forward, causing you to land on your toes. The brand believes that optimal running gait falls somewhere in between. To help maintain this, Newton has taken great care to research and design their shoes. You will find technologies like Active Membrane Technology™, Action/Reaction Technology™ and the Biomechanical Sensor Plate throughout the line.

So who are Newton running shoes for? They are for runners who are already mid-foot or forefoot strikers, as well as those who are working on transitioning from heel striking to a more natural running form.

Slip into a Newton running shoe and experience the science of motion.

I purchased a size 8.5 originally and it was too short. I normally wear 8.5 in sneakers. So I returned them and bought a size 9 in another Newton-Gravity. I must say Newtons are great. I have bad feet and after trying like 10 pairs of other brands. I think I found my new Brand. These are worth a try i you have hard time finding comfortable sneakers. I don't run but I use it for cross training.

I suffer from metatarsal pain and after trying every other brand (Hoka, Altra, Brooks and New Balance and more) I was just about to give up on finding the right sneakers. I thought I was going to buy orthopedic sneakers like my 83 year old mother. Sigh! I have jacked up feet. I purchased a size 8.5 in the Kismet 6 at first and it was too short. I normally wear 8.5 in sneakers but Newtons run 1/2 size short plus I wear an orthotic and it felt too tight in an 8.5. So I returned them and bought a size 9. OMG- I have no words to say but THANK YOU Newtons for making a sneaker that supports the metatarsals. I was apprehensive to spend $175 but I was desperate. I am so glad I did. I actually purchased the Fate 6 in this brand, waiting for them to arrive. I no longer run but I walk a lot and I can wore them on the elliptical and no feet pain. I will try them on treadmill next. I am pleased which I honestly did not expect to be. Since this is like my 10 pair of sneakers in various brands that I have tried. I like the fun colors as well. Now I can still be somewhat fashionable without sacrificing comfort.

Wanted to love them. They fit great and even though they were pretty bright, it was fine since the feel was so good. But, when I stood up and started to walk in them, they SQUEAKED! I had purchased them to replace an old pair which also squeaked as I walked but they were old and had bee worn in the rain many times. I sure did t expect a pair of new expensive shoes to make noise out of the box. Alas, they are going back to Zappos.

The fit and feel are nice. Only problem the lugs on the shoe are almost worn down. These shoes are less than 2 month old and my 2 year old newtons are in better shape. I will not purchase again, especially for the price. So disappointing. Newton is not what they use to be. I expect my shoes to last longer than 6 weeks.

This is my first pair of Newtons and I am really happy with them. I ordered an 8.5 and a 9 because I am always between the two. I usually size up with running shoes but actually returned the 9s because the structure of the shoes. "The lugs on the sole compress and rebound...creating a responsive, trampoline like cushioning system..." The lugs do create a unique sensation when wearing the shoes while walking as if the sole of the shoe is missing at the toe end however, you get used to it and you don't feel it while you run. These are running shoes after all and that is what I use them for, running. The price point is pretty high but for me they are an excellent investment. I have flat feet (overpronate) and a knee injury and since running in the Motion 9's which are stability shoes, my knee pain is almost nonexistent. Newtons may not be for everyone but really like them. I might try the Kismet next.

My feet are normally a little wide for shoes, especially running shoes. Nike specifically runs narrow for me. I got Wide in a pair of Brooks GTS20, and I got normal width for these, and it could be the material, but they fit amazingly. One of the most comfortable shoes I've ever work. Because of the bump for forefoot striking, you don't want to wear them for long periods of inactivity.

Fit a little wide for me. Size was otherwise good. Very comfortable and light. Good support. Enjoyable run right out of the box.

I feel bad leaving a low review for this particular style of Newton running shoe because I run in the Newton Kismet 5 and really like that style. This newest Newton shoe, however, has extra cushioning of the shoe.....built by adding layers of extra tread on the bottom of the outside of the sole of the shoe. If you look closely at the photo of the shoe, you can see that on the bottom of the shoe, it is raised about 1/2 an inch, compared to the rest of the shoe....therefore, the bottom of the shoe is not flat. While walking, the shoe feels uneven, like walking over a big rock, in the forefront of the shoe. I wanted to point this out as when I ordered the shoe, I did not notice that in the photo. It was when I wore the shoe I could feel this big difference, then noted the bottom sole of the shoe not being equal. It felt like my foot was rolling over a big rock stuck in the bottom of the shoe. Newton is a great running Company, but this particular shoe is very different and I would like the buyer to be aware of the outer sole bed of the shoe.

Perfect running shoe Newtons never disappoint. True to size. Style is ok not super cool look but if you're serious about a excellent running shoe. Fashion is the least point in this shoe.

Bought this shoe as recommended by my physical therapist. I recently had a knee replacement. Expected to be more cushioned but the strip across the ball of my foot seems to almost propel my gait. I walk all day in my job so will be wearing these shoes.

I've run in the Fate 3 and Distance 8; this is my first pair of Gravity and intended for longer distance training/racing (10k and up). These are GREAT shoes but run a little on the smaller side. My Distance 8's fit true to size but I needed to go up half a size for the Gravity. If you're not used to the lugs, it'll take a few runs for your legs to acclimate but it'll happen. The all-weather version is comfortable but I found when running in 60+ degree weather my feet got fairly warm after about 4 miles. Great for cold weather running. Overall I recommend these shoes.

These shoes fit great -Roomy in toe box which I like. They are also more breathable than any other running shoes I’ve worn. I could feel the air on my feet. When I first started to run in them I loved how the little rubber ledge at the ball of the foot almost propelled me forward but after about a mile and a half it actually started to stress my left foot so badly that I had to stop and walk. I think that rubber is too rigid and it applied a line of force across my forefoot that became unbearable. It was only my left foot and my right foot was fine so maybe this is anatomy dependent. I seem to be the only one who has this issue as I read a lot of reviews about these before finally making the purchase. Too bad because they were great otherwise.
