THE MEANING OF LIFE
Marmot clothing and equipment began in April 1971, when two University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in the Juneau Icefields of Alaska on a school project in Glaciology. While atop those glaciers, it was there amongst the students that the concept of a Marmot club was born. In order to become a Marmot, they had to climb a glacieted peak with another Marmot. In addition, everyone was president.

During that summer and up until 1973, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down clothing in their dorm room. In addition to Eric and Dave, their friend Tom Boyce joined their ranks and opened a rental/retail shop under the name Marmot Mountain Works. Here is where the Marmot company was brought to life in the summer of 1974.

Marmot incorporates quality Gore-Tex® in their products, maintaining the highest quality performance product. As a company, they actually remain to be the oldest customers of Gore-Tex® in the world outdoor market. Marmot endeavors to provide outdoor gear that is authentic, innovative and best in class. In every area of business practice that they engage in, they passionately seek the highest level of quality, performance, service and value.

I love this jacket so much that I ordered two! Both black and I know that's boring, but it goes with everything! I ordered the first from the Marmot website about a year ago and used it all the time. It's so versatile to wear on it's own or as a layering piece also! During the recent holiday season I ordered another one from Zappos because I was noticing a little wear on the sleeves (just from daily use, nothing to do with the quality of the material itself). I did notice a slight color difference with the jacket purchased from Zappos and it looked slightly longer, but it hadn't been washed yet. Otherwise the jackets looked identical. Thanks Zappos for the great customer service!

Very happy with the fit and feel of these capris. I typically go with Columbia for my light weight hiking/boating pants, but gave these a try and ended up loving them. I'm 5'7 and 169 lbs. I ordered a size 12 and the fit was great. I could easily have gone with a size 10 for a slimmer fit, but I'm enjoying the ease and comfort of the larger size. They're mid-rise and fall just short of my belly button.

4th and E Shorts

The Marmot 4th and E shorts were very disappointing. The material felt synthetic and didn't stretch which made the lack of an inseam gusset very noticeable. The hip and thigh pockets were so shallow they are best described as vestigial. Overall, compared to the numerous Marmot shorts styles that I own this was the least comfortable. Fortunately, Zappos return service was as advertised.

I ordered this because it appeared to be a longer version of the Marmot Precip which I had been waiting for Marmot to offer as I love the regular precip jacket but want a longer version with some style or cinching at the waist, something more like a single breasted trench. The material is the same nice lightweight waterproof fabric, but Marmot totally missed the mark on this one. The sleeves are insanely long with no adjustment available. The jacket is only for a woman without any hips or curves - top was big and bottom was tight. There is no two way zipper - without a two way zipper you cannot sit down in this jacket without undoing all the velcro and unzipping the jacket. The closure had an over abundance of velcro every few inches. (I was wearing a brand new Eileen Fisher sweater when I tried it on and the velcro snagged and ruined the sweater.) I also agree with the pocket design criticism offered by others.

I really like the ombre color fade but it was little brighter in real life than on the model (but that could be because I am very fair complexion). The fit was definitely slim and felt like it ran small, I am an athletic build and the medium was not a good fit for me. The fabric was a little too flimsy too so although not clingy in the midsection it laid funny on the body ... going back.

Fantastic small pack. The “photo” of this on a silhouette makes it look enormous. It’s not. I used it every day for a week at Disney and it was perfect. Cool on my back, holds everything I need for the day (spare shirts, sunscreen, a couple diapers, snacks) and water bottle pocket on the side. Roomy but discrete cell phone pouch near the upper handle. Also fits below a stroller or over the handles.

An attractive jacket, and unusual in that the collar lies nicely in lapels when open at the neck. The hood is stowable. It has some waist shape. I have a 40 inch bust and hips and found this was roomy enough to wear another light jacket underneath, but appeared too wide in the hips for me. I would prefer more length.

I have a 40 inch chest and this fit, but would not be able to accommodate a quilted jacket underneath, for example. I would prefer the longer length all round, not just in the back. The fabric and color are nice. The real issue for me is Velcro- lots of it. It is a good idea to have the storm flap over the zip, but the velcro fasteners are a pest; Velcro attaches itself to everything.

Basic Work Glove

These gloves look too nice to be work gloves! Protective leather gloves were recommended for an upcoming hiking trip, but most leather gloves are much too nice--and expensive--to wear for that purpose. These are perfect and priced right. Substantial, but not too thick, the leather is a nice quality and they look durable enough to last well beyond the trip. Even though they are for men, the small was a perfect fit for my girl-sized hands.

These are seriously my go to pants. Please make them in more colors!!! I'm 5'4" with a longer torso and shorter legs. These hit at my ankles like they are supposed to. I don't feel like they are too long or too short. Just perfect!!! I bought the black pair and just an fyi, they are more like a charcoal grey/almost black. If I have a straight black tank on, you can tell they aren't completely black. Whatever though. Still amazing. I came back and bought the blue grey color. If these come out in other colors I will buy them all.

I've only worn this a couple of time so I may update this review later. But my initial thoughts are that I'm very happy with this jacket. I got the black in both medium and large. I'm 5'8" and 150lbs. The medium was a bit too snug in the shoulder area so I kept the large. It's roomy enough to wear over a sweater but has a chic cut and shape. It really keeps the rain out. I don't love the hood and I wish I could remove it but it might come in handy at some point.

First off I'm not a fan of synthetic fabrics but will settle for the right synthetic pants if I must. These capris are made from a flimsy material that I disliked as soon as I took it out of the package. If you buy these I promise no one will ever say, "ooh, where did you get those pants?" Marmot, you're not even trying.

These run large. My usual size 4 was much too big in the waist. I'm 5'4" 120 and exchanged for a size 2. Even that waist is a bit loose. But I really like the style and fabric so a belt will be the remedy..

This is my go-to summer dress. It is incredibly flattering, and great for hot, humid climates. 5'6, 145# I can wear a Medium, but it's not as flattering as a Large. 5'6, 137# = definitely a medium. The sienna red floral has very muted colors but for the pink (which is REALLY pink). The sky rise floral is very bright, but I like that in a summer dress!

This jacket is so chic. Classic without being stuffy and old fashioned. It fits true to size, unless you love wearing sweaters and thick sweatshirts, then go up a size. I’m 5ft 11in, I bought a size small, sleeve length awesome and coverage from front to back, fits perfectly and the hood fits just fine. I needed a rain jacket that was not too sporty and would be able to wear at all kinds of functions, whether a day of errands or a night out to dinner, this is what I was exactly looking for!
