They don't "feel" a full size larger. They are a full size larger compared to every other brand of shoe that I own.

I had high hopes for these ... but a little too tight width wise, and some puckering of material at tip of toe. Seems a little pricey based on material.

This is the third pair of John Varvatos slip-on sneakers that I bought and EVERY single pair has fallen apart in some way, shape, or form. They look good. Are pretty comfy, but the soles crack, the label on the heel falls off, they separate. I feel like a huge sucker. Lowest quality shoe at the highest prices I've ever paid. If you are slipping these shoes onto a paraplegic, they're A+++. But, if you intend to use them to walk the Earth - pass on them. Then, come back ad thank me. They quality is absolute garbage. OH! Here's a final kicker - you can call John Varvatos and let them know that their sneakers are junk and they don't really seem to care. They will tell you to try taking them back to where you git them and ask to have them replaced.

The quality of construction of this shoe is amazing. Being new to the John Varvtos line, I did not know what to expect. But these shoes are made of high quality suede and have that look of distinction. I am sure that you will get compliments wearing these shoes. The color would be perfect with jeans or dress casual. The only issue is that they are rather narrow so I had to return them. I believe that they are made in the USA so that surprised me that they were on the tight side.

Perfect fit, true to size. A good quality, leather upgrade to an iconic design. Lots of comfortable support, but heavier than a running shoe. I ordered the lace-less version, which appears to be exactly the same as the laced version, only less expensive. They came with high-quality leather laces anyway, which was fortunate, because they look more finished with laces.

Looks great, comfortable, and have never had so many compliments of “cool shoes!” I didnt buy them on Zappos but came here looking for another colorway. As stated elsewhere, it is NOT leather or even trying to be - it is more of a waxed linen. They aren’t styled to look like a clean dress shoe or something, they are supposed to have an edgy/semi-sloppy look to them. I dont wear laces in them (and mine did not come with them), because I love the look. They DO slip in the heel though, so i did put some heel anti-slip pads which works perfectly for me. And no, you cant see socks through the lace holes, not sure what that reviewer was talking about. I am wearing white socks in the photos

These shoes run huge... for me it ran .5 size smaller than chucks and 1.5 size smaller than Nike,Adidas,Puma. For whatever reason the shoe must be manufactured according to EU standards as opposed to US. I suggest that you order a few sizes (take advantage of the free returns). These shoes are awesome as a go to shoe (mainly for work and casual). They look great with a nice pair of jeans. Enjoy.

this boot looks really well on website and slightly less in real time. Tried it on and felt a bit of the leather rubbing against the top of my toes. I I decided to insert my shoe tree to open it a bit ( it worked) but as i begun to walk in them, it felt as if I was barefoot. I did not expect this. This shoe needs more support for the price. Nice grain of leather but not comfy for walking on hard surface. More suited for grass or carpet. would not suggest these, unless of you are ages 19-26

I really like this shoe. It looks great and fits well, but it is VERY tight to get on due to the unadjustable lacing that has stretch laces. The actual shoe fits well once it is on, but it is hard to slip on and feels tights around the opening of the shoe due to the lacing system. I have worn the shoes for only a couple days, so perhaps they will stretch a bit and be more comfortable as time progresses.

The fit and size that I ordered was slightly larger than I expected, I ordered a size 10. I'm glad they came with laces, you can't walk around with out them or they will come off, better fit after I added them. Overall the shoe is great looking and I do like the distressed look to them which is one of the reasons they caught my eye. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Really disappointed! I wore them only twice and one of the boot has the seam split apart on the outside. I have been buying John Varvatos Chukka Hipster boots for the last ten years and was never disappointed, but this "Portland boots are not high quality made. There is no arch support and the inside sole looks more like card board. I sent them back.

The boots are great. Fit is true, materials are excellent and the look is fab. I have to remove one star because the heel material is super slippery on the office terrazzo and I’ve almost wiped out a number of times on my first full day wearing the boots. I need to find a shoemaker to help mitigate the slipperiness.
